Great review. Just wanted to let u know after a few tests I have found that the "User On-Ball Defense Assist" Slider (i think thats what its called) could help. I found that if u raise this slider, the CPU WILL INDEED take more mid range jumpers and do less of the pro hop move. I THINK that I have mine at 85 (im at work so I'm just thinking off the top of my head....) but I'm 99.9% sure that is what I have it set at. The CPU will still attempt to drive to the hoop, but not as much as they settle for outside shots.
    Hope that helps.

    Cool. Will try it

Like I said, if Carter, Finley, Stackhouse, T-Mac come at me with the pro hop...I love it.

It's only when you see Mark Jackson, Eric Snow, KVH etc doing it, you start to think hmmmm

So you don't see Live this year having the player traits? I've read things in this forum saying Antoine Walker shoots his shot and runs like real life, Marbury doing his exact chess pass, Van Exel, Payton and Webber (among others) are noticable simply by the way they run?

I must admit, the videos of these exact players do not show any of that, so maybe it's just the whole feel of the game that gets your mind thinking you're actually seeing all that stuff or it really happens?

I'd like your view on this please monkey. Thanks! =)

Sorry, I should have clarified this better. I should have said 'mannerisms', ie 2K4 has free throw routines etc.

Players do play reaistically...like Webber moves around a lot better than a less agile PF. Antoine shoots threes etc (although, I have traded him to Dallas and cut down his primacy rating + increased his post game a bit, thinking that will be his role) Can't say I've seen him do that 'wiggle' or anything after a shot though?

I put on pareds sliders...then made a few adjustments. I was getting too many fouls. I love the fact I am at the free throw line a lot, but I noticed opposition players going to the bench after 2 fouls too quickly because of it. One game, Duncan and Nestrorovic were both sitting with 2 after about 4 minutes.

I also put 3 point shooting back to default. Utah shot 1 of 17 against me and Detroit also were like 1 from 10...so i raised it.

I know this means Sac etc wil shoot the lights out...but it will challenge me to bring the D

Brand loyalty is for kids. If I'm loyal to a brand, it may be a high-ticket item like a brand of car or high-end electronics, not some $50 videogame. I'm gonna search for what I'm looking for most in a videogame, and for me, it's gameplay.

Can a game make me want to play 82 games and have every single game play differently? That's the key.

I haven't play a Live b-ball v/game since Live '01 simply because there were better products available. No loyalties, just truth.

But this 10-Man Mo-Cap is what really sold me this time around. Too many times have I played b-ball v/games and watch as 9 players are just immobile, standing there on the court watching. The technology was too good for that to be happening year-after-year.

I don't have an X-Box so I can't comment on Inside Drive. But it seems that they really set a precedent on how games should be played and the Live developers followed suit.

I'll give NBA 2K4 some runs on a 2-player game when my brother gets it for his X-Box. But, I'm satisfied with what Live has brought to the table this year and I'm enjoying this game to the fullest.

I definitely respect the opinions of the hardcore gamers here on OS who are giving their honest opinions of all 3 games. All the trolls and bashers ( we all know who they are on both sides) can go elsewhere with that.

But with improvements from all 3 game developers, next year should be sick!

                        Pretty good review.

I have played ESPN B-ball and it does some things well and all, but I am really miffed at some of the things I am seeing be posted about Live. Live is a very good game this year and I am like if people Love ESPN, I can't see how they can't like Live. Live plays just as good and has better player animations. I bash EA alot for what i see as complacency but they did a great job with Live this year.

                              Completely agree

I can't believe how many idiots post stuff like "Live sux and is arcade, I played a game and now it's going back!" or "you can freestyle to the hoop non stop"...

All of that is crap. With sliders, the game can be a hard sim and anyone who says they are freestyling to the hoop non stop like 2003 is full of BS.

This game has really improved...probably the biggest single season improvement I've ever seen in any sports game.

Like Bigeast says, the ten man mo cap is out of this world...it adds so much.

For 2005, I hope they just try and refine the game...as that's all it needs. The ten man mo cap can get bunched up, and I get the slow down sporadically (but i can live with it). Just fix those small things and it will be great.
