I agree they can get better but dont expect anything big until PS3. Nba Live has two more years on the PS2 and in those two years I dont see much happening graphics wise maybe a little touch up here and there. IMO the graphics this year arent that bad I can deal, I mean its clear where EA speant most of their time this year >>GamePlay<< which is the most important thing to me, hey maybe next year we'll see new graphics who knows but as long as they keep making the gameplay better I dont really care.

Re: Time for LIVE to step up the graphics
Are we talking about graphics during gameplay?
Because if we're talking about graphics during cutscenes, I'll give ESPN 2K4 the nod over ID and Live.
But during gameplay?
For argument's sake, I'll say that EA's graphics are... "subpar". (LOL).
Let's just say that Graphics are the absolute worst part of NBA Live '04. Okay.
How does the absolute worst part of Live '04 (subpar graphics) compare to the absolute worst part of NBA 2K4 (poor overall gameplay) and ID2004 (a combination of poor graphics and subpar gameplay)?
It's up to you to decide which one is a "game-killer", no?
I, for one, would go with the game that lacks in one area, but excels all-around. But, that's just me.
BTW, this is flaming because it seems better suited for the Wishlist forum.Comment

Re: Time for LIVE to step up the graphics
Personally, I do not see anything wrong with the graphics. No, they are not ESPN. They are definitely next gen graphics though. If anyone can honestly say an NBA Live game on the PS1 looks similar to this, they need to have their vision checked. I understand we want more when a competitor or another company is able to produce the eye candy for one game. I think we have really high expectations for games when they are released. Granted I would love for every artist to make every game as beautiful as possible, I understand that is not going to happen at this point. Console graphics have come a long way and I do not feel the sports games graphics are so poor to call them 32bit, PS1 graphics. Pull out your PS1 and put live in the deck. You will definitely appreciate 2004 a lot more.
There will come a time when developers and artists will totally utilize the power of existing consoles and the graphics will be on par with gameplay. For now, let's enjoy what we have. Live 2004 is by no means an ugly game.Comment

the graphics are fine for now.... just get the tats and bands right..... focus on getting the bugs out first and for most..... the graphics arent ugly..... most people who say that never even had the game in their home and if so they had a crappy tv...... in my opinion.... graphics can wait... make minor updates.... focus strongly on making everything right in the gameplay dep.... add a street mode tooComment

Re: Time for LIVE to step up the graphics
Live 2004 graphics are extremely bad. The game reminds me of those childish characters in these adventure games for little kids. It makes the game feel very childish like I'm too old to be playing it cuz it has these cute little Toy Story playermodels. I'm sure if you have the game you have seen the small Vince Carter pic on the CD. That is how Live should look in terms of playermodels.

Re: Time for LIVE to step up the graphics
I agree that they should be improved and i expected much better since they touted all new graphics this year "down to the meshholes in the jerseys". This years graphics seem too similar to last years and the textures are not well done. Body models are fine in my opinion and animation is the best in a sports game probably. However the lack of polished textures leaves alot to be desired especially since Visual concepts are titans in the graphics department.Comment
