You are not doing anything wrong. The CPU refuses to shoot mid-range J's. An inherent flaw in Live. One of the only flaws, however, IMO, it's a gamekiller. Perhaps ID will do this better.

Oh give me a break! While they ARE lacking, the CPU WILL shoot MRJ's on the All Star level with Human Def. ***. turned up.

Read the sliders thread, lots of useful info in there!

Oh, and to anyone else, I'm glad my sliders have helped create a more enjoyable game experience for you. Thanks for all the pos. feedback!

Hey, if I can't break into the gaming industry, I'll do the next best thing, ya know?

Re: The \'evolution\' of LIVE 04

I gotta say thanks! I tried them today and enjoyed the game a lot! Add the changing team styles/plays for the cpu and I had a great few games! I got mid-range J's too. Not a lot, and sometimes they were just inside the 3 line but it was ok. Changing the cpu double teaming to off for the average players makes the spacing much better too.

I still find the pro-hop too easy to get by the man and score and while I don't have to use it, if I need a score I usually found myself doing it

      Thanks again!!!

One way to mitigate the pro-hop problem is to increase cpu dunk/layup blocking (Mine is set to 97) and set cpu on-ball defense to at least 48. This essentially allows the cpu to be more effective at combating the pro-hop. Try this and let me know what you think. I now use the pro-hop with extreme caution!

BTW, I'm playing the PC game, although it shouldn't make much of a difference in regards to the effectiveness of the aforementioned sliders.

Re: The \'evolution\' of LIVE 04

Well, I'm starting to think that the pro hop was actually implemented proprerly, because it only seems to work when it should. You've got your man beat by a half-step or more(you've got him on your hip) and you use the jump stop to separate from your defender and drive to create contact. Or, you've got space, but the help defender has slid over, and you use the jump stop to split the help defender and get to the hole. These are the two situations where I would use the jump stop in real life, so it seems just about right.

BTW, it doesn't work if you DON'T have your man beat off the dribble. You will just jumpm stop in place, and if you try to shoot a layup or dunk, you'll get charged with an offensive foul. What I have found, though, is that strong players that can really jump and dunk (Vince Carter) are damn near unstoppable with the jump stop/dunk combo. It seems unfair, until you realize how hard it is to stop Carter from getting to the hole in real life if he REALLY wants to get there.

Also, I've got my CPU on-ball physical defense set to around 95-100. That's why I feel it only works when it should. I can't jump stop past a defender that has good position and is moving his feet. It's only when I've gotten that half step off of a hesitation move, crossover, or quick first step out of the triple threat position.

Pared, stop please! I have tried every slider combo possible. The cpu does not shoot mod-range jumpers. They shoot 3's and shots inside the paint and every so often you get a shot just inside the arc. But besides that, there are no mid-range j's. I put the human defense assist slider up to 90 and they still wouldn't shoot the mid-range j, they just took more 3's cuz they couldn't get around the defender. Unfortunately, I think ID does this best and warrants a purchase because of it.

I don't understand why this is such a big deal. I don't know how many times I've watched an NBA game and screamed at the tv: YOU'D MAKE IT IF YOU'D JUST STEP IN A COUPLE OF STEPS!!!

NBA players do two things: Attack the paint, and camp out behind the three point line. In some cases, they penetrate and pull up in the foul line area. Do you know what a 15 foot jumper is?? A mid-range shot!!! And the CPU takes plenty of these on me...dribble drive, pull up jumper. The game is simply programmed to reflect the NBA. NBA players shoot threes and attack the basket. That's the number one complaint of scouts these days, that the midrange pull-up jumper is a lost art. I just don't see why everyone is complaining about this.
