Listening to feedback is great. However, it's sad that EA needs people to tell them that what they have is not ready.

Seems to me like they're not in the stage of using feedback to make it better, but using feedback to actually tell them what they need to do.
    My Specs:

    CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
    GPU: Monochrome display
    RAM: 48 KB
    OS: Sinclair BASIC

I pretty much have zero faith in EA to come through until I'm personally playing that legit copy of Live myself. It's one of those see it and then believe it type of deals at this point. Same old song and dance over and over again like clockwork. There is no shortage of feedback on what's wrong and right with the NBA Live series. If there's really this much concern about feedback then all they have to do is ask. Again, they didn't, they went silent and wasted yet more time developing without showing ANYTHING to get feedback on what they're doing and what the consumers feel is going right or wrong with their progress. Hell they really don't even have to ask for feedback, just go through the thousands of feedback/wishlist/review threads at bball game forums on the net throughout all of their releases this generation. Hell they can go through the 2K wishlists to get the pulse of the bball community and what they want. They act like they're trying to cure cancer not make a basketball game.

The whole "Moving in the right direction" thing...how many times has this been said? So many times before. It's as if, no matter what they have, it seems like the're moving there.

Really, sometimes I think it can be said about anything, it doesn't even matter. "Oh, EA has new desks at the office. They're definitely moving in the right direction".

Will they ever actually get to where they're supposed to be moving to? Or "It's not the destination, it's the ride", as some car manufacturers would tell you.

Hopefully they get to the promised land at some point. It would be nice to have another PLAYABLE basketball game every year. One can only dream...

This is my problem with all this. We're going around in circles with the same stuff. Delayed indefinitely? Giving them time to polish up the game? Are people so desperate for a second basketball title for the pretend competition that it's supposed to bring that they're memories are erased? This is exactly how the Elite cancellation started.

September 27th or 28th. The exact date of Elite's delay. What was said?

EA Sports President Peter Moore explains in a blog post on the publisher's website says the game "would benefit from more time in development."
"Feedback from consumers is a very important part of the process," reads Moore's post. "NBA Elite had the benefit of play-testing, a demo and a lot of our own research. All that feedback revealed some concerns about gameplay polish."
Feedback was the marching tune back then too and yet we still had a total eclipse of all things Live outside of the E3 fiasco and Leakgate. All that, all that they apparently learned way back when and here we are getting the same song and dance again. It's just mind boggling what we're witnessing right now. If I didn't know better, I'd say the lady that owned the Cleveland Indians in Major League owned EA and was trying to intentionally sabotage the brand so they could sell Live off or something with how crazy this downfall of the brand has been.

The "Advisory Council" has exactly zero input into this title and in fact are nothing more than a PR and marketing tool.

Competition is only competition if both parties have something to offer that the other is lacking, wanting live to be released just for the sake for have 2 basketball game means nothing if live is not bring anything new to the table except online connection. 2k has already taken the one thing that live had over 2k for almost 10 year which is the dribble stick.

The problem is NBA Live is so far behind, the fact that they can't get a decent game up in running, after two years, is troublesome. How would they ever manage to be equal or greater to 2K? It would take a decade of development time.

EA simply has a VERY low budget for NBA Live. And not enough programmers. That's the truth.

If it takes EA bringing in "Ad Council" members to tell them that their animations are piss poor..then it leads me to believe that this game is much, much further behind than they are trying to let on.

Which "Ad Council" member(s) didn't stand up and tell them it would be a horrible idea to release that trailer?

Does EA even have an animations team in place? Who can look at that herky jerky robotic movement and give the green light on it?

Forget 2012. Scrap it. Release the game as it is now as a beta and let some real community members pick it apart and give feedback.

But if thy keep heading down this road hoping to save face by releasing that game in 2012..they're in for a nightmare guaranteed.

To me it is just UNBELIEVABLE and unimaginable that after all these years the game, the engine, whatever you call it, has the same damn issues.

I get the perception that they, for the most part, have no idea what they are doing.

The same rim sound after dunk and the way the ball leaves your hand when dunking or doing a layup are just minor things which have grown way bigger in my head because they haven't been fixed forever.

There is absolutely no use starting the core gameplay conversation with this title on my part.

advisory council yada yada....... they would have made a bigger impact when they walked into the studio, played the game, watched the trailer, and just walked out, told them trip wasn't worth there time, that would have made a statement, game if trash! just saying thats what i would have done! (waiting on the backlash!)

A great idea would be to have the people actually try the game and test the mechanics, BEFORE, the game is released, or, maybe, just maybe, test and look for balancing issues while it's still in development.

I don't know what happened at EA, but the ambition and scope of what they were trying to do for Live was too much for a single development cycle (like they've said). IMO, that's just terrible time management on EA's part and they have no one to blame but themselves. Excuses like "It's challenging" are just not going to cut it. It's your (not you, but the people who actually worked on the game) job.

Now, another concerning thing is, to stop ignoring your consumer. When people were asking for information on the game, EA was being mysteriously quiet (and we saw why with that gameplay footage of Thunder vs Heat). And then EA representatives come on here and are shocked at the venom and general ill-will being displayed towards Live. Well, yes. They are going to be mad. They have every right to be mad. You've ignored them since basically the beginning since Live 13 was announced, didn't show any information, and when the game was finally cancelled (or put on hold indefinitely) you then want feedback.

That's the part that has a lot of people mad. You've ignored previous feedback (Go look at the long wishlist thread in the NBA Live section. If you can't find it, I'm sure a mod or admin will help you look for it in the archives or something) then turn around and want more feedback after not listening the first time. It's lip service at this point and everyone has now recognized it as such.

Announce Live 13, then silence after that. The community has been talking, asking questions, wishlist since 06, surveys. Yet you devs continue to say "you're listening." Will you guys be there long enough to really listen or will you be replaced whenever Live 13 drops and sales arent near Facebreaker numbers?

It seems this is what has been going on at EA when you say you're listening to "us".

To be fair to the Tiburon team I can understand why they would be silent after taking over this project. At least to the mainstream. With that being said, they should've at least reached out to the sim community in particular (OS) and got our feedback. It's not enough to bring in loyal guys that have played Live for "years" - we're passed that. It has to be guys who want it to succeed and compete with other titles and actually KNOW what they're talking about when it comes to basketball and simulation.

As noshun stated, we've been here putting out wishlists, pointing out issues and such. Just frustrating how it seems our ideas are falling on deaf ears or the communication only starts to take place once a title is about to street. How convenient.
