What I immediately get is this from the people who love it and keep singing its praises:

Live 14 brings you back to the days of Atari, Sega, NES, etc. Back when consoles had no power and no capabilities.

When you had fun playing Double Dribble even though visually it looked like crap.

And all because you were using your imagination picturing in your head what it's really supposed to look like.

That's what Live 14 is. In your head, not on the screen, you want it to be good.

      But in reality, it isn't.

There is some good in there. Maybe in 3 or so years, they'll have grasped what a next gen game is supposed to look like, move like and play like.

But for now, this is just Live 10 on steroids.

I respect SOG for his basketball knowledge and insight. But the overall team at EA either doesn't have enough manpower or doesn't have the resources or doesn't have the understanding of how to program realistic player movement.

The Synergy is hit or miss. I saw good things from the CPU AI (going constantly to Aldridge in the post, Isoing Melo, etc). And I saw terrible things (Tyson Chandler in the post, no 2-man games, etc.).

For all that it seems to do well like banging in the post, there is nothing more than a left or right hook shot or some quirky hop step/spin move in the paint which no big man can possibly do.

But if you tell yourself in your head, "It's okay", you'll just overlook it and convince yourself that it is acceptable.

It is not acceptable though. Not at full price anyway.

For all the control that you are "giving us", you are sacrificing realistic movements in the process. If Deron Williams can have one-to-one dribble size ups and then fling off a non-signature jumpers, all you'll do is say, "It's okay". Again, it's not.

Saw some good in there. The base is solid. The music is ridiculous. And the presentation has potential.

But that game can only be good in your head. Right now, it's not good on the screen.

And even if some people tried to make it good, they can't because there's no damn sliders. Oh, and they can't edit any player ratings.

      Poor job, good effort.

Forget updating the content every day. They need to try tackling a Wishlist item everyday just to get this game up to par of what a next gen title should be.

For the sake of the industry I hope they get there one day.
from the gameplay ive watched it looks a lot better than what youre making it sound. sure its not a graphical mammoth but it looks well enough for now. i would rather have a realistic playing game that looks ok than a great looking game that doesnt play realistically. they definitely need to improve on visuals/player movement in the future but for now the game looks solid enough.

The floor spacing is excellent, look at it! So much space to rome, love that about this series. 2k players are too big for the court and that has always bothered me. Everything is all bunched up.

And the sounds of the stadiums, they sound like NBA arena's.

Re: Scott O'Gallagher live stream at 10

After watching the stream I can say this game looks VERY barebones. They have got a lot of work ahead of them but I'll say that the foundation they have set could be nice.

I enjoy the dribble moves and the way the players move in that aspect. Everything else needs to attention the dribbling got. The physics and defenders just look bad overall.

Animations aren't everything but they REALLY hurt this game. Especially with how limited they are.

It has nothing to do with being a 2k fan when people are disgusted with this effortless and despicable game.

A lot of us that are upset are fans of basketball games, not just 2k, not just EA, etc.

When Sony released those last 3, NBA The Inside games on PS3, we tore them new **** muscles.....And guess what they got the message, but instead of improving to the Show standards! They decided to bail...

People use 2k as a crutch on why real fans of the Live series are sickened at the efforts shown in Live 14, after a 4 year waiting period. Live Fanboys use 2k in sentences to stray away the topic to a rant fest.

Instead of us staying on topic and really just focus on the core fact that this game looks hideous, moves hideous, commentary is gapped with silence and also hideous.

The only thing sexy about this game, is the menus and half-time stuff. The core gameplay, animations and graphics are straight outdated and pure garbage. We were expecting more!

And if you want to keeping bringing the competition into the topic, point out something that is fact about them.

            1. EA completely eliminated showing any type of gameplay before release, after the last competition trailer was released.

            2. The Only reason EA even wants to do a twitch or show gameplay now, is because the game was sold worldwide on the 15th and YouTube is full of videos now with footage.

This game is a enhanced version of that Live 13 leaked footage that got shown last year. The controls are worse, the graphics are worse than Live 06, 07, 08, 09, and 10.

Post game animations are identical to Live 08, and 09. Player models are the size they were in Live 08! Body types from Live 09.

Skin textures of Live 10, courts of Live 07. They took different elements of all the different games released for 360 and later PS3 and mixed them.

In doing so, we only have one online player mode.

We can't edit rosters, create a player has less features of editing, even less than Live 10.

See how I am keeping the topic purely on the game that this thread was created. We all should try that.....has nothing to do with the competition. Me and a lot of others like BiggD, Tomba, WTF, 23, etc are all fans of this series. And we wanted it to succeed and do a heck of a lot better than the crap product that is released.

With the technology that EA holds at their HQ, this is insulting to all basketball gamers. No reason that since 2006 they can't release a quality product, especially going into a new generation with newer technology.

Some of us so called 2k guys are also Live series guys we buy both, because we respect that game of basketball. And sometimes rotating the series titles, keeps our gaming season fresh.

Don't get into that hype that they only worked on the game for 1 year crap, and it's a 3 year cycle....yeah it's been a 3 year cycle since 2006, it's been more than enough time and 3 development teams later and we still get the short end of the stick, by continuing to support mediocre products.

I think I speak for a lot of us, when I say my buck stops here, improve or quit...simple enough....

I need Live series to get back on track, stop being so PR'd and lazy and really push the limits to these new consoles....

After watching Kyrie and KD put in work just now how can anyone say the game is bad. They've got a lot of things right with the game, especially from a simulation standpoint. It just plays like real basketball. The animations might not all be there, but the game looks fun and legit. I can imagine how the online will play with two users who have both Stick skill and Basketball I.Q. It will be a battle to the finish.

I like the direction EA is heading in and the future is looking good for them.

Hmmm...interesting responses here...I actually went into the live stream with very little interest at all in this game. I came away from it looking forward to downloading the demo tomorrow.

I will have plenty of "pretty" games to play on my PS4 so what I want from this game is something fresh and responsive. I LOVE the other game but there are times I get frustrated with the lack of responsiveness when attempting dribble moves and at times when I release right stick on shots the ball doesn't release from the shooter's hand right away. If Live can do those things better then it will definitely get some time from me.

Happy to have some competition again that's for sure...

Game is definitely not worth $60

Not gonna lie, some parts do look fun. I'm sure it would be fun to play against another real person. Dribbling looks good also.

But besides that, most of the gameplay itself looks robotic and unrealistic. Almost worse than some of the gameplay we had on the 360/PS3 LIVEs. Unlike what others keep saying, Synergy will not fix that.

Player models look bad too. But there are some promising foundations in this game. It'll be interesting to see what stuff they improve on next year.

                            Responsiveness...

                            Hmm...

After you download the demo and play it, please post your comments about responsiveness. I'm very curious as to what you think about that.

So yeah as a Live Fan = I speak truth and don't kiss *** to a company with a mediocre and **** product, that should be passed these stages after freak'n 8th year and another generation later....so yeah...it bothers me that much....

I can imagine how the online will play with two users who have both Stick skill and Basketball I.Q. It will be a battle to the finish.

I like the direction EA is heading in and the future is looking good for them.
You can really say that after watching everybody on the Thunder just stand there and watch Durant and Westbrook Iso out on the perimeter and jack up threes that whole game? They drove a couple times but that stream was full of Iso plays and over dribbling.
