Re: Did they adjust gameplay again with latest update?

    Guys,

You all make valid points however let's all exercise some patience please. I know they are working on addressing these issues as they attempt to strike a good balance in regards to the gameplay. I have been forwarding various issues and exploits I've observed within the game and I can confirm today that they have already addressed or plan to address them in due time. These are the first things I check when I fire up the game and I am pleased with the adjustments that have been made so far. I'm also assuming that some of these adjustment may be affecting other aspects of the game such as shooting for the user, so they just need time to create that equilibrium we all hope for! I do feel confident that they will continue to work on our various concerns!

Having said the above, mid to long range points for human controlled teams seem more difficult to accomplish at present. Again I believe adjustments to other aspects of the game has created this but I could be wrong. Hopefully they will be able to find some type of happy medium soon!

I hear you. This has been a source of consternation unfortunately. Hopefully they are planning to have someone from the gameplay department on the board soon to provide some details. For now its been WTF and Fernando (did I miss anyone? ) providing updates. Personally, I can only speak about the recent verified improvements in regards to gameplay.

Re: Did they adjust gameplay again with latest update?

So I made a thread about getting back into Live and it's had it's up points.

You mentioned passing things onto EA. I would pass this post on:

The biggest thing I'm worried about is that all they are going to do is balance the gameplay. They released a game that they knew was inferior. So inferior they really admitted it the second it came out and offered free ultimate team points.

For them to just make more shots go in or slightly improve defense is not enough.

Here are the biggest flaws I've seen the past few games:

1: Rebounding animations are absolutely terrible. They are the worst. Everyone goes straight up.

2: Post animations look very terrible.

3: There is no mid range game. Unless you dribble past someone and get an open shot, no big guy can make a mid range shot. Guys who are fairly open constantly miss.

4: Since no mid range shots go in, it's either 3's or post game. 3's used to be all everyone did and now that they adgjusted gameplay people only play in the post.

5: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, are literally unstoppable in the post. Everyone is really unstoppable. On 2K there are several different ways to get in front of and stop players but one of the biggest problems is "unstoppable animations".

6: Late Game A.I. Enough said.

7: Synergy data is broken from what I read.

8: All tips go straight to the point guard.

9: The transparency that was there with Live 14 has been gone. I don't care that we aren't updated on operation sports, but we should at least hear a podcast update, youtube update, or something.

Just please. To be honest we already get way less roster updates, accessory updates and more than 2K. Yes. Live came out with a patch faster than 2K. So I understand not doing as much.

But please..... don't just come out with another gameplay tweak. Honestly if you have sliders at live headquarters I'm sure a few tweaks in those could satisfy us at least for now.

But please don't forget to address the big stuff. Don't wait until Live 16.

Also Live 15 was marketed terribly. If you go another year like this Live is definitely going to be gone. I like Live 15. I would absolutely love it if most of these things were patched.

Just please make big changes to the game this year.

I don't just want another update that really just adjusts sliders for gameplay. We can't ignore the huge problems.

Why do rebounding animations look completely different on your gameplay video?

I am on Xbox One and that looks completely different than what I play day to day. The way to ball is shot and goes off the rim looks completely different, definitely have the patch here too

Re: Did they adjust gameplay again with latest update?

gonna post another dynasty mode video soon, and it illustrates the schizophrenia of this game. As good as the flow was in the 1st season video, you are going to see a lot of the things that can go wrong with the CPU in the 2nd

Constant fallaway shots from the post with Gasol and Randolph going clank, Mike Conley just standing there, dribbling in place because he cannot recognize that I am playing him to drive to his weak hand. He went 0-7 from the field because of this as he had to resort to either hoisting a long range J against the shot clock, or he forced into the lane to get blocked or miss a contact layup.

You can only play the CPU straight up, or with the on the fly D-Pad adjustments and assigning double teams. They do not know how to adapt to the coaching menu adjustments outside of being played normal, tight or loose and doubles. The moment you try to do anything remotely exotic to them..they have a compelte meltdown, and the game goes to pot.

Re: Did they adjust gameplay again with latest update?

Man I was playing Live late last night against the Nuggets and they had Kenneth Faried running the point. He was bringing the ball down the court every possession. He was doing crossovers and driving to the hole like he was Allen Iverson. Sad thing was, they still had their guards in the game and Kenneth was at his normal position but he just took over the role of the PG.

All I could do is laugh every possession when I saw him bringing the ball up the court. His ball handling skills was out of this world though, it was like he was possessed by Allen Iverson. Another weird thing was the scoring drought that went on every quarter for 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

1st quarter it was the CPU who couldn't score for that length of time.
2nd quarter it was the USER.
3rd quarter it was the CPU.
4th quarter it was both sides.

Each quarter it was a scoring drought for 6 minutes and 40 seconds. It was weird seeing both sides missing lay ups over and over again. Missing free throws over and over again. And don't even get me started how damn high they had Ty Lawson and some other players jumping in the game.

Wonder if the roster changes caused some screwiness?

I remember the Mavs being just plain weird when they first got Rondo, until they updated the lineups.

Rondo was running SG and coming off of screens....

Re: Did they adjust gameplay again with latest update?

They tweaked something tonight because now star players are being subbed out way too often per a quarter. Playing as the Thunder vs Bulls:

                            Durant
                            Westbrook
                            Rose
                            Butler

Are constantly being subbed out and the back up players getting the majority of the minutes. I also noticing the CPU is driving and kicking a lot more. They also kicking it out of the post more and attempting mid range jumpers. Grant it they missed every mid range jumper they took, but it is nice seeing them attempting it at least.
USER still misses mid range and long range shots. Durant is 0 for 10 mid range.

Another thing I noticed is the CPU bites HARD on fakes and cross overs now. Been several times in this current game I faked a defender out in the post and just rolled to the basket, not mad at that at all considering Gasol was the defender. Noah didn't bite as much.

On crossovers I crossed Kirk over several times, along with Snell. Got Rose crossed over a few times. But it is weird seeing the back ups getting the bulk of the minutes instead of the star players. Every time I will sub Durant and Westbrook in, next dead ball they would sub them back out, even though they were FULL OF ENERGY.

Re: Did they adjust gameplay again with latest update?

Wasn't sure where to post an impression of the game since it's been out for several months. This thread looked to be discussing how the game has been playing recently, so I thought I'd chime in here.

I picked up the game yesterday, just to give it a fair shake and see if it'll be a game that stays in my rotation, or winds up getting flipped down the road for something else.

After playing for a few hours last night, here's what stood out:

                              (+ = pro; - = con)

                              - Jump shooting. This seems very difficult. Seems like unless you're wide open, there's very little chance of a jumper going in, which is disappointing because very rarely are you left completely unguarded in the NBA. I'm using ratings-based shooting only, figuring that may help correct the contested shot averages, but it has not so far so I may switch back to using the meter.

+ Controls. I've always felt EA has done a good job of making this game accessible to anyone. Now, some may view that as a deterrent to sim basketball but I think it adds to the fun factor of the game.

+ Lighting, shoes and player likeness. Both are very well-done by EA. The game looks great on my TV and when you focus in on a player in a replay, you can really see the level of detail in the shoes, which is a nice touch. Player faces and bodies for the most part look good, but there are some ones that were clearly not scanned that stand out like a sore thumb.

+ Presentation. The ESPN implementation is pretty well-done and the commentary isn't revolutionary, but it's far from terrible. The stat overlays and score bug are authentic and look good.

                              - CPU shot selection. Again, small sample size but so far it seems the CPU either hoists up 3-pointers, takes shots in the post with a C or PF, or drives to the lane for a layup or dunk. I haven't seen many mid-range jumpers taken yet.

                              - CPU offensive execution. This will probably be helped when I bump up the CPU difficulty (was playing on PRO last night). The CPU did pass the ball around, but there was no real sense of urgency in terms of getting up a shot up, meaning they were just passing the ball to pass the ball, not to run a play or set something up.

+ HUM play execution. Your AI teammates will do a good job of running the play that is called. The selection of plays is limited, but that's not a terrible thing imo.

That's all I have for now. I'll be playing some more over the next few days and should have more impressions.

Good impression DJ. I think Superstar showcases the best variety in shot and play style for the cpu. I have had success in forcing the cpu to take open shots from mid range. Normally about 35-40% of their points are in the paint. Not bad at all.

                                Good luck.
