It seems both companies have decided to put the better create options in myplayer/the one game modes. It's just so frustrating that a simple feature that has been in most sports games is now either lacking, or not in the game at all with no explanation why. We aren't asking for some unreasonable, expansive free roam mode, just a decent cap editor with options, ability to change player accessories and trade players.

Some here have stated it's because of the new engine/focusing on gameplay, but supposedly the next live game will get the same engine that madden 18 has now, so what will the excuse be then if live 19 doesn't have roster editing? Some of the things I'm reading here are the same excuses I read about past live games. The fact that we haven't had roster editing since live 10(ironically, I still own that game, not a coincidence either) is ridiculous.

you guys have to see the writing on the wall.

for one live doesnt want you touching the rosters. between synergy updates, and if they could get everyone scanned properly. there would be no need for you to touch a single player. but we know that it doesnt work as advertised. not the point. thats what it was supposed to do. create the most accurate players thru statistics and scanning.

2k is not doing the stats via some other service but the look is for the same reason. 2k doesnt care about the default created player heads. they want you to scan your head in their game. even though we again know that the phone scanning isnt that hot at this moment in time.

There's no way anyone is going to allow live to have a super large dev team and financial resources when they havent made the company any real doe since like live 10. people did like the mobile game(maybe some of that money is what got us live 18.)

But if you thought it was going to have a tight franchise mode. shame on you. you knew better but you were wanted to reserve hope. if you thought you were getting roster editing without hearing a thing. You should've known better.

Roster editing should not make or break your buying decision. the game is about playing basketball not editing rosters. editing rosters as fun as it could be is a 2ndary thing to the actual game itself. sorry to say that but its true.

So what makes you think it would be a good idea for a now super small team trying to rebuild their core gameplay to compete with a juggernaut in 2k, to over extent themselves into roster editing or a deep franchise mode?
Who are you to tell me or anyone else what to do with our money? And you act like roster editing is some major thing to ask for when it isn't. It's been a staple of sports games for as long as I can remember, which includes live. Some people, not only here, but in general want to defend this game so bad that they are quick to call you a fanboy of the other game, act like you're some entitled gamer to DARE ask for basic features in a sports game, or even tell YOU what to do with YOUR money, as your concerns don't matter, only there's.

And live 10 had both synergy and roster editing, so yeah I get it perfectly fine...

slow down. Notice i never once called you a fanboy. and I'm not one.

If the main reason you buy basketball games is to edit rosters(and that may be the #1 thing on your list) then DONT buy the game. because the #1 thing you love isnt in the game. i said this in another thread.

BUT if its not the #1 thing you want to do. if the #1 thing you want to do is play basketball on your console and you actually enjoy live's basketball mechanics. then buy the game.

Do you see what i'm saying?
Put it this way. if Live's game play was excellent but all they had was an offline franchise mode. No "THE ONE" or my player feature. I wouldnt buy the game. You know why? because as of right now. I'm no longer a franchise guy. I'm a Mycareer guy. if the game doesnt have that feature...I'm out. no matter how great the actual gameplay and addtl mode(s) maybe.

I hope you understand what i'm saying here.

And you are correct live 10 did have both roster editing and synergy. but wasnt that the first synergy? and that was the last time they had a Legit Development Team, with real money to back them up. There's a reason people still think Live 10 was their most polished and complete game to date.

My point is simple. from a business standpoint. we're even lucky nba live is still....Alive. It's someones pet project at this point since it was not making the company actual real money the past 4 or so installments. There's no way on earth a business decision would be made to deploy all hands on deck like its a normal dev team when the franchise isnt bringing in the money like that. now sure they needed to give the live team more help than they have in the past or they might as well flush it. So I think they did just that. They gave them a bit more help, a little bit more resources. NOT a Lot of help and a LOT of resources. This means what we call NORMAL or BASIC additions like...roster editing. Wont make the game on release and maybe not at all if its not a thing you can patch. This also means since people actually finally like the game play. They may be better served focusing on that one thing since its THEE most crucial aspect of any basketball game to MOST people.

MOST people dont care about roster editing. even though they would love to download your nicely created rosters. Most people no longer care that much about franchise mode(sounds crazy. but things change.)

The #1 thing then becomes basketball...how does it play? Bad... so so...pretty good...good....very good... great...perfect.

So your team focuses in on tweaking that to get it to very good to great. once thats done. The same smaller team making a few more bucks will get a little more help next time and a bit larger budget. Now all of a sudden you can edit rosters(maybe..or synergy works so darn well add in the animations of everyone is so on point you wont need to touch a thing even if you wanted to), and franchise mode is looking real nice, or some type of connected season setup.

This is what you're going to see assuming what I think its going to happen with this live. I've heard more positive talk about this live from 2k lovers than I have ever heard. people actually like this game. and that means someone will buy it. which is a good thing for all of us. This nba live 18 isnt the year to look for per se for you... its going to be 19 and 20.

I would go out on a limb and say live 20(if still around) will be on par with 2k, even if 2k comes up with some other stuff. while also having their own identity. before i could not say that.

If I'm not mistaken I believe you can't edit fighters in EA UFC games as well. It's not like when THQ made UFC games where you had a lot of editing options.

It's so stupid not to be able to edit at least the accessories like shoes, arm sleeves...etc. NBA Live 10 was awesome with that feature. I remember there being 100's of shoes in that game to choose from. It's a shame because Live 18 is really a good game.

I feel like talking about shoes and sleeves kind of misses the point. The game literally has an expiration date. You won't be able to keep the rosters up to date after the end of next season. If you happen to not particularly like the changes in Live 19, or you just feel like 18 is a perfect game, you'll pretty much be SOL.

This may have been brought up already, but I'm disappointed in this. I'm a Bucks fan and I can't use Jabari Parker. I understand he's injured to start the year, but I should still be given the option to place him on my active roster and use him. Idc about accessory details too much, but let me play with my favorite player.

In the franchise settings there is a option to have pre existing injuries off to have all players healed to start the franchise. You could use him that way in the franchise mode.
