Re: NBA Live 18 Patch 1.08 Available Now, Features Roster Editing

I was able to recreate the 2015-2016 Rockets, Thunder, Warriors, Cavs, Lakers, Celtics, and Knicks with the roster editing and it’s been fun as hell. I put the time in to have almost everyone with the right accessories and lineups/rotations. There’s a bald dude in the CAP that looks similar to Kobe and is good enough for me. (If you check, you’ll see exactly which dude I’m talking about). While editing, I noticed that left knee accessories don’t have the “NONE” option. For players who wear LEFT knee accessories, you are not able to remove them, only change the type of accessory. Compression shirts also can not be removed. Hopefully these minor issues can be fixed. Also I hope they add a roster share system so I can share these teams with all of y’all!

It’s basically like a Madden money play if I don’t have it at 100
I agree with this. Though defense should be represented realistically (blown coverages on occasion, clear path to hoop after these mistakes, etc) I rather prefer tighter defense (I am still able to find a somewhat unguarded player on my team for the open jump shot from time to time, etc) than being able to arrive at the paint unhindered or with little resistance, consistently, especially if the aforementioned desirable cpu behavior can't be replicated in the game properly on that side of the action. At default Superstar, I like that it requires players with good to elite speed in order to blow by the defense, though not regularly. This allows the speed/quickness attribute to stand out for these indiviuals, as needed. I have also found that even if you blow by the first defender, you are not always guaranteed an unfettered path.

Played a very rewarding and physical game today against the Pacers and the cpu shot 13 mid range shots (saved screen Capture)5 min quarters, Superstar level. Most of these shots occurred naturally and included stop and pops, elbow shots, step backs and kick outs from the post after rebounds. Only 1 or 2 of these shots occurred due to the shot clock expiring. I have experienced other games like this, especially post latest patch!

Hey guys just a quick heads up, dont waste your time editing minutes as they DO NOT stick!
If you set lineups they will stick as long as your player is playing proper position. Also Auto-Subs not working either as even if you turn to Off CPU still Subs in players.
Hopefully EA can fix these 2 issues

I don't see any mid range game at all? That is a lot in 5 min quarters. Are you simply on default superstar sliders / no changes / 50 speed?

Yes, you are right, default sliders on Superstar, 80 speed. They made very noticeable changes after the last patch. Prior to the patch, my game speed was around 74 or 75 with and without modified sliders, and I observed that the cpu was more reluctant to engage in the mid range game or kickouts from the post, etc. Once I returned to default 80 game speed and reverted all other slider settings to default, I immediately realized that the devs had optimized the default settings to present more balanced gameplay including the mid range game. This has been especially the case after the latest patch.

Typically I can get the cpu to shoot anywhere from 9 to 12 mid range shots and this varies depending on the team you're playing against. I believe you should see more of a mid range game on All Star, however, I haven't played at that level lately.

I think more than anything it depends on who your playing or to be honest, not really sure how it’s determined, I have drastic swings in AI tendencies. I have games where I get similar results to you but then I have horrible, make me not want to play, games where the cpu does nothing but hammer the paint. I like the diversity but it’s over the top. Played the bulls last night and out of 76 points 58 we’re points in the he paint and they also had 8 free throws.

Re: NBA Live 18 Patch 1.08 Available Now, Features Roster Editing

Hi guys, I usually just follow the Live forum as it is my basketball game of choice but I just wanted to speak about the mid range game in Live. I think the default sliders are the way to go for balanced gameplay as some of the others have stated.

However, I think the slider you should first change is the shot contest impact slider for the cpu. I decreased it to 10 and I believe it gives the cpu less thought about the defense blocking/challenging there shot which lets them play more freely. The cpu will take contested 3's, mid range shots, and also drive to the basket. This does make the scorers and shooters in the game more aggressive but I like it. The cpu does take more mid range with great dribble animations.

I do not use the defensive assist buttons on the perimeter only in the post. I can stop the cpu from driving but it also gives them freedom to make a move that crosses me or blow by me. The cpu will stop and take some mid range shots.

While not the end all or be all, I think this is where you guys should start and make adjustments from there. I play on superstar w/ 80 game speed. I have not made adjustments for correct shooting percentages yet. I am enjoying the balance so far with the drive, mid, and 3 from the cpu. You will have to adjust it to your liking, players like steph will literally come down most plays and shoot a 3 with no hesitation. So adjust it to your liking and start from there!

So is there any type of solution for the CPU driving to the basket 90% of the time? I tried default SS with speed at 80. And it's still happening.

It' kinds ruining what is otherwise a great game of basketball.

I have tried a ton of slider sets and edits....nothing seems to work.

Aside from the odd LMA type midrange J, it is entirely head down and charge the basket or pull up 3s.

                      Very frustrating.

I have been impressed with the DEMO version of NBA LIVE 18 the past couple of days....I'm wondering after reading all these comments about the CPU driving to the basket like a BOSS, if it would be resolved only by going back to the 'original' form of the game....like deleting, re-installling, and then playing without any updates...Of course, rosters won't be updated and the ability to edit goes down the drain....but at this point, I'm enjoying the demo gameplay so much, that gameplay is more important (personally for me) than all the updated rosters and stuff...just a thought...

i did this when the game first came out and I can tell you don’t drop it too low or the cpu rains threes from anywhere as soon as they get it over half court. Lol

The other slider I did that seemed to help was put cpu mid range shooting at 100. I know that sounds a little crazy but I was still getting realistic shooting percentages. It seemed to give the cpu more confidence to shoot mid range but honestly I dunno anymore. The under the hood stuff going on in this game is so different game to game.

Tried modifying this slider as well and did find similar results back then. The game needs work in some areas (though there are more changes to come this year) but the devs IMO have done a good job balancing SIM/action at default settings. Looking forward to future adjustments.

What would be a proper % to drive the basket versus pull up for a jumper. I mean, the NBA has drifted away from the jumper in a big way. I still see jumpers from the CPU. How many would be appropriate?
