They don't sweat in the demo but I love how the courts looks. The reflections of the lights off the courts looks realistic.Comment

How I feel (Will even type this up on a real keyboard not a phone, ha.)
In some ways, I do dislike the fact that Live's demo doesn't have net play, especially to showcase their new mode. I feel they think they proved enough last year, but I don't think they did.
It feels mostly the same to me, with some minor adjustments. I really like how you can add people on your squad, and I hope you can add those people in your squad for 5 v 5 online if you don't have a full team. I like that you can add female players. It was funny watching Diana Taurasi (sp?) straight rip Curry and some other female, Candace Parker maybe, smashed one of his lay ups. I think it adds new flavor, and flavor is good.
I said before that I felt 2k went out of its way to punish you for not making the correct input (like they make you miss easy shots if you don't shoot them right), well Live is the opposite. It seems to have a little too much leeway for just pressing shoot, in what constitutes a make.
I played a bit of 1 on 1 scrimmage Curry vs Kyrie and that's where the game really shined to me. Button mashing on D does not really work in Live. Curry became easy to contain after awhile (cuz he's AI), but I really felt in control of Kyrie and got some really nice moves that didn't look like trash. Some did, but some didn't. By trash I mean, yea the Live animations are kinda wonky, but trash like 'there's no way he should have made that shot' kind of trash.
It seems like there is gonna be a lot of fun to be had online this year, and I hope enough people play. I hope it keeps records for Squads or courts or whatever.
Inside play as a big is still weird. I find that 'press square to score' mechanic kind of underwhelming. I still hate auto-rebounding. I still like that you have to be in position to block a shot, you don't just come from behind and strip someone doing a reverse.
We're not really gonna know what it plays like 5 v 5, 5 minute quarters, but I'm willing to purchase the game in good faith.
I like that in Live if I know what you're gonna do, I can stop you. If you try to get over eager with jumping or trying to steal, you're dead in the water. Live is a game of positioning and precise button presses atm. It's bare bones as well, but hopefully they can just keep adding a little more.
Dudes say you don't get a lot of space for Js, that might be true, but you can hit those Js. You can even hit 'guarded' Js, but a lot of contested looking Js don't come up guarded, you just can't green them for various reasons. I was cooking Curry with some Kyrie like moves.
I might even have to make a wing in the real game because perimeter is so fun to play and big seems kind of meh.

I was actually going to say the same thing.
But the game is much improved. Movement is much better. The shots are smooth. But the dribbling and paint interactions leave a lot to be desired.
One thing I didn't like about 18 that it still the same this year is how on ball defense is represented. It's to contact based. In real life if you're making contact with the defender, unless you cut them off and the contact is to your Center Mass, then you're probably not playing good defense.Last edited by 2_headedmonster; 08-24-2018, 05:40 PM.Comment

I think that review is quite generous...About 3 hours of playing, very pleased and I'm sold for the full game. 5 on 5 play now NBA is smooth and feels great on the court, graphics are crisp, courts are shiny and bright and better than the courts from the other game. I like the feel, feels like a souped up version of 18 which I did enjoy. I really have no complaints about the game besides the horrible presentation thanks to shoddy commentary.
AS mentioned by many of you, What on earth is going on with the commentary? It sounds like they recorded themselves on a cheap microphone, I can't figure it out, but it sounds cheap or something and their lines are dull and very "uninformative" . I hope they can update it as the season progresses and patches come. The soundtracks is awful. I will just leave it at that.
Enjoying the One as I did last year. Online is smooth and fast an seems to be some good players online that like playing a team game and AMEN, I don't see any Virtual currency offerings. I will buy this game at launch. I hope franchise won't disappoint me a lot. I hope it will keep me busy this winter when it gets cold outside.
Graphics 9.5 Great looking player models, accurate uniforms and spot on courts that look amazing.
Gameplay 8.5 Tight, not perfect, but with a few hitches and hiccups here and there, but much better than 18 which I enjoyed. Looking forward to see if the legacy issues from the previous Live games have been addressed.
Presentation/Sound: 6.0 The music is worse than vomit. I mute in the menus it's so bad. I wish we had more variety. Commentary is downright atrocious. Sounds like commentary from an old 90's basketball video game. Good crowd reaction, nice sound effects. I wish there was more stat screens in real time.
Longevity: Undetermined how long I will keep coming back, but the ONE seems like it will keep me entertained. Tons of unlockables and NO VC, kudos for EA for doing that and that will give them a big advantage for the other guys who are fed up with that on the other game.
Final Call: NBA Live definitely is back and it's finally great we have 2 great basketball games to own this year.

Seems there are no specific team styles again.
Played GSW twice and after every defensive board Draymond Green simply passed it to the PG to carry the ball / Boston did the same.
Draymond should be running the offene as a point forward some of the time.
Last year's NBA part of LIVE got boring VERY quickly as teams were all generic.
Same again. It is a damm shame they have done nothing to fix the NBA part / franchise / team styles / player specific traits.Comment

As a user defender I had the opposite experience. I failed to contest many midrange shots because of lack of anticipation and my momentum driving me back. Was expecting the drive and they’d pull up on me suddenly.Comment
