Sigh. This is almost a game killer for me. The only thing stopping it from completely being so is i had lots of fun with the Live Run, and the one long braid hairstyle is close to my actual dreadlocks. Which is effin awesome BTW.

I'll probably get this on sale if i don't have money to spare after i buy the other game.

You can edit a roster and then import it into franchise

I'm a control freak with sports games, I don't think I could enjoy any type of franchise mode where I can't edit things to my liking. I probably wasn't going to get Live anyway (I always get 2k) but this makes the decision even easier.

For the record I don’t think it’s awesome that you can’t edit rosters in a franchise but I’m a little surprised that so many people edit rosters during a franchise.

I thought the norm was editing a roster before you started a franchise which is possible.

The big thing for me is no roster sharing. That one hurts for me because I’d rather someone else do the work lol.

I change accessories, jersey numbers for people I draft etc. so it is a big deal. I enjoy the gameplay so that alone is worth the purchase for me. I plan on picking up 2k on Black Friday so if the franchise mode is lackluster, I will just use 2k’s for my franchise fix. The One and all of the court battles for my online consumption, get more play than the Park and team up on 2k

Re: No editing in Franchise mode has been reported.

When they finally patched in editing last year, it still wasn't great, and was to me a temporary band aid to the few left who didn't drop the game by then, but I thought that was a sign that they wouldn't make such a huge mistake again. I now question if the devs read these threads, since no roster editing and the various gameplay complaints still appear to be issues for live 19. I still haven't heard any franchise mode improvements, which was the worst part of last year's game for a lot of us, and the game comes out this week.

Then you see comments already from people struggling to find matches, while a 'busy' day for this forum is 50-ish users. I know 2K is a juggernaut, but the live's team self inflicted bad decisions haven't helped things either. This went from a game that I was planning to preorder, to a game that I'll wait for to be no more than $20 on black friday.

I also think ea charging full price for this was another misstep. For me personally, I would struggle to even justify the preorder price for this when I see what little has changed, it's competition is the same price, yet a lot better overall, yet this is a $65 game.

I just don’t get it with EA. They are aware of what a lot if not most of the buying faithful consumer wants and yet it’s like they just ignore us. No way in hell will I pay full price for this game. I’m beyond disappointed because I really thought this would be the year.

Re: No editing in Franchise mode has been reported.

My assumption has always been that EA believes roster sharing leads to gamers skipping releases, hurting sales. Also, many sim gamers release rosters to “fix” issues, and then complain about how the game plays without detailing all the changes made.

Not saying they are right, but it’s understandable.

A long time ago I decided to just play sports games in the alternate universe devs created and to stop obsessing over every detail of realism. If a game is fun, I no longer care. I’ve enjoyed sports gaming a million times more ever since.

And I was right there, pitching a fit, year after year, ruining my own gaming experience. And often, the arguments really aren’t made to improve the game, it’s to highlight something negative about a game that a poster thinks another game does better. So much of it, but not all by any means, is just fanboy posturing.

Eventually, it becomes less about that and more about just finding stuff to complain about, which is the habit we created, year after year. We anticipate things not being right. Guys are adjusting sliders the first day they get a game, anxious to fix the game.

That’s how you get complaints that LT is too overpowered when defending and that using the LT causes them to get caught in a stumble animation, missing the obvious solution, which actually makes for better and more engaging gameplay. Too many of us stopped playing games, and are instead stuck in evaluation mode.

I’m just trying to say that we can stop this madness and start actually enjoying this hobby instead of prepping for war for every release.

Live doesnt need a white knight, it needs a community. It may take a while to build back up but it starts with dialogue. The conversation cant just be "why I switched over from 2K"testimonials...

It should be about things we like, dont like, want in future iterations. It should be about sharing content. If you want to just play, by all means....just play and enjoy the game...but this is a forum- where discussions take place. Let's stop trying to shut that down because it's not exclusively positive.

I started a franchise with the Cavs. Traded for Andrew Wiggins... The game assigned him #4. If he ever comes back to Cleveland, he will be #21 or 22. Not #4. Its an immersion breaker. This is one of the MANY reasons we need editing within franchise. We also need to be able to edit tendencies. You'll see why when you all get plenty of games under your belt.

Are you going to do another state of nba live franchise after release? Looking forward to your thoughts.

I might. I might go ahead and start working on it. Or I might wait til the first month goes by and get word on any patches, etc. Who knows at this point.

I want both games to be great. In fantasy land I buy both.

Ea did a big thing last year opening up their demo for netplay all year. I feel like ea, even tho they are a big evil company too, has listened to a lot of the stuff we wanted. I think 2k does also, but I dunno I'm just growing away from it.

It's funny that some people might think of me as a 2k guy but I'm not. I wanna go head to head online. I feel I'm a pretty relaxed person but I wanna play for keeps in games. I don't want any bs I want to know I won or got beat. That's what I'm liking about live. I'm here to stay esp if they keep giving us discounts.

I like the feel of live. I feel like when I come off a screen goin to the rim that I control my own destiny. My dudes not gonna do a euro and chuck the ball out of bounds, I'm not gonna pull a 1foot jumper, I'm not gonna get blocked by someone's fingertip on a dunk.

It's just faster. Like you pull a j in live and it might be contested. If you pull a contested j in 2k unless you're a pure sharp, you made a mistake, but live let's you pull js and maybe they get contested or maybe they don't, depending on the reaction of the user, and that opens up the game.

I see some problems, and I'm quick to point them out if I think they are easy fixes. Seems like if you are dribbling in the demo and you pull back for a 3, the cpu fouls you a lot, things like that. Or some of the rocket dunks. I don't understand fan boys. I wanna take a game seriously though. It doesn't have to be always real just consistent. I wanna know when I press shoot that my dude is gonna take a sensible easy shot and if someone gets in there to contest or block me, good on em.

I also differ from most in that I can play pure management Sim and pure game play, if that's ever the same game wow, but doubt it ever will be.

EA needs to drop live because they can’t compete against all the features and modes! Who ever is in charge of their sports division needs to be canned!
