Re: Your favirite NBA Live this generation

Hey guys, I've been itching to go back into playing Live again and I'm glad I found this thread.

I'd like to know, can we edit player gear/accessories in franchise mode in 18 and/or 19?

    Many thanks!

19 is broken with the lob pass cheese. Im surprised no one brings it up. When a defender is fronting the post player, the lob pass becomes this rocket lob pass that makes the post player catching it in the paint. Because the pass is so quick and the defender jumped to try and stop the pass, it is an easy 2.

No slider can fix it. I repurchased it and turned everything on the defensive side to 100. Defensive centers might knock down that pass down once every 10 times. Please note that this only applies to centers and pf. You rarely get that animation with the other positions unless the play was designed for it.

18 didnt have that problem. I just feel like 18 you can beat your man off the dribble better after some resistance and depending on the sliders, the help defense can get there but not always. I would like to get better 18 sliders but i havent picked up a game since a game i won froze on me at the end.

NBA Live '18 hands down. It brought back fresh Live excitement for me and had me looking forward to more from Live thereafter.

In Live 18 and 19 you can edit accessories/gear as well as player attributes. No tendency edits, though.

Once you drop the vertical and dunk ratings in Live 18, you will start seeing lots of nice animations with collisions and different layup animations and it all looks much more realistic.

Last night I was playing with the Pistons vs the Heat. Whiteside got the ball in the low post, and while he was trying to spin to the rim, ai-controlled Drummond reached around and stole the ball from behind, and Whiteside lost his balance and slipped and fell. Kind of like the slip you see after a player scores and tries to run back, but he actually fell down. I don't think I've seen it before. I actually recorded the replay, will see if I can upload it.

Absolutely loved NBA Live 18, my favourite bball game this gen period. 19 added some nice things but i just didn't have as much fun, gameplay wise, as i did with 18.

Live nailed career mode though, best of both worlds with NBA which i rarely played and Street which i mostly played. Quick games to 21, fun gameplay, always improving my player and not mtx in career.

I'm really hoping for some kind of comeback from Live on next gen.

18 was solid, still have it on my PS4. A friend of mine plays NBA 2K so he got 2K18 and encouraged me to do the same so I bought 2K18 and immediately regretted it and returned it and got Live 18 for $19 (whereas 2K18 was $79).

I don't play NBA games that often but I went through 95 then 09 (still have it), 14, 15 then 18. 14 was the worst but that was the first game I picked up when I bought the PS4 and there weren't many things to play on it the year the PS4 launched.

Live 18 had some of the best rebounding animations of any game. My least favorite one is the one the player jumps crazy high and grabs the ball with one hand. But with tweaks to players' ratings I hardly see it anymore.

Players jumping actually pursuing the ball in the air is just fantastic and realistic. I even see lots of "lower" rebounds where players just slightly jump and get the ball under rim height. I can't tell you how many times I've paused the game to check a rebound replay.

With the next gen vibe today, I went back and checked Live 18's Photographic thread and it blew my mind. That was PS4.5 quality. It's almost next gen lighting, textures, colors, player models (except for those guys with the extra wide shoulders), sweat, tattoos. Best looking basketball game ever up to 2020.

I don't know what it was about 18, but I still think its the best looking basketball game this current gen. Something happened with nba live 19...i just never got the same feel. I just got nba 2k21 for ps4, and its a great looking game in motion because of animations, but when looking at it compared to live, I don't know if my eyes are playing tricks on me or what, but I think they just nailed the look and feel of an nba bball game with nba live 18. I should mention i am talking strictly from a broadcast view perspective.

Agreed. I don't like 19 as much as I like 18. I keep coming back to this game almost every night.

I only recently started taking advantage of the right stick shooting. And while I think it's not as responsive as in the other game, I discovered that when I use it, I see animations I've never seen before. Both when attacking the basket and from the low post. It adds some more variety to the game.

They need to go ahead and announce the cancelation so people can move on.

They nailed the lighting and colors (paint on the floor, uniforms) in 18. I thought 19 looked good, too, but there was a difference in the lighting. 2K has felt washed out and darker to me almost this entire generation.

I don't think they want to bring this up, so they just keep low profile. It's pretty obvious at this point anyway.
