Re: Your favirite NBA Live this generation

I only played Live 19 this gen, there were some things that I liked and disliked, I hated the shot meter because of it shooting Fadeaways in the post as a big man was almost impossible online in a Live Run, but I liked the perimeter defense more as it felt much more rewarding than in 2k20 because 2k20s been plagued with a blow by animation.

Just playing an overplay defense and beating your guy to a spot was so satisfying, I remember shutting down a guy in a Live Run just by playing an overplay defense.

Re: Your favirite NBA Live this generation

OK guys, so I've finally downloaded ShareFactory and put together a few plays from my recent games in Live 18. I will upload to YouTube when I get the chance and post it here or in a more appropriate thread. At some point I'd like to post some unedited gameplay, but we'll see if this is do-able.

Last night I did my final edits on the Sacramento Kings then played a home game with my Pistons and had a blast. Tonight I played a road game vs the Kings to further test my edits and really liked it. So much that I played 2 games in a row. And keep in mind that I always play 12 min quarters.

Every game was different, each game felt unique. Live 18 is truly a great game.
      My Specs:

      ZX Spectrum
      CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
      GPU: Monochrome display
      RAM: 48 KB
      OS: Sinclair BASIC

Re: Your favirite NBA Live this generation

I really wish Live 18 had roster sharing. I don't think i have the time or patience to edit the rosters myself. Thinking about re-purchasing Live 18 or Live 19 for the ps4...just haven't decided yet. Leaning towards Live 18 bc I think it's a little better gameplay wise against the CPU and plus I think it has slightly better graphics. Live 19 has more updated rosters (less editing would be involved) and more animations is a plus....but I do remember the gameplay against the CPU frustrating me to the point where I wasn't having as much fun.
        Looking forward to your vids!

My rosters are based off of the June 2018 official rosters, I did not move any players, I play the 2018 season. I don't mind playing old seasons, it can be fun.

Re: Your favirite NBA Live this generation

Alright, finally uploaded my first PlayStation video to YouTube! This is a short video with interesting Live 18 plays, not much of a highlight reel, but plays that I found interesting. Mostly plays by the CPU or my AI-controlled teammate. Speed may be slower at times as this was recorded in Replay mode and I tend to slow it down a bit to be able to notice every detail. Hopefully this link works.

0:05 - That's the only play by a player I was controlling. Stanley Johnson with a little double clutch layup.
0:15 - great ball movement by the CPU-controlled Sacramento Kings.
0:44 - great interior defense by the CPU. The block at the end looked great.
1:02 - AI-controlled Griffin with a nice block. Nothing exaggerated, just a realistic block.
1:12 - This one is interesting. I was trying to get to the basket and collided with the help D. We've all seen this animation. But it's the first time I'm seeing the CPU block the ball on the same play. It was pretty rare.
1:25 - CPU-controlled Crawford with his signature dribble and a nice midrange Jumper.
1:37 - AI-controlled Drummond causing Whiteside to lose the ball while he was trying to spin to the basket, and look at Whiteside slipping and falling down. First time I see it.

I've recorded a bunch of short plays by my guys but mostly CPU and AI controlled teammates from my game vs the Grizzlies last night. I will try to upload and you will see some of the best transition offense ever by the CPU, as well as lots of other goodies.

Yes. When you bump up court vision for all players, you start seeing nice possessions. In my roster file, no players has CV under 70. The top stars and PGs have it in the 80s and 90s. And I see great ball movement from the CPU a lot!

I recorded the CPU Grizzlies last night, and they got guys running in transition on the wings getting to their spot at the corners, shooting 3s or midrange before by defense was able to react. It was beautiful and happened several times.

Re: Your favirite NBA Live this generation

By the way, when I play Live 18, the only time I call a play is if I have someone like Kennard on the court. I would call a quick come-off-screen play for him 2 or 3 times at most. Other than that, in 48 minutes I call no plays at all. No need to. The off ball movement is superb with my edits. 80% of the time I can create a good look if I'm patient and move the ball around. I have never had so much fun in any other game moving the ball around until I find a good shot. The CPU does the same more often than not. The spacing in this game is fantastic! And it's just like JVG keep saying: "Read the defense, they will tell you what to do".

I will try to record some raw gameplay at some point to show you what I am talking about.

Re: Your favirite NBA Live this generation

Went back and re-edited the Wizards in Live 18, then played a 12 min qtr game vs them, like I do with every team. I actually recorded some raw gameplay and some interesting plays, maybe I will upload it.

At the start I was playing solid, moving the ball around, making 3s and midrange, leading by 10 at the end of the 1st. Then in the second they started a comeback and improved their defense. As the game went on, suddenly I no longer able to find the open man so easily because they started playing the passing lanes, and stole the ball several times. And Wall started to show his greatness, crossovers and stepbacks, 3s, midrange, layups and dunks, assists, he was everywhere. Beal started to make 3s and get to the basket and my defense was having a hard time dealing with this duo. Also Morris was tough to stop inside and the other guys contributed as well.

The Wizards completely turned the game around and I was playing catch-up. But it was too much to deal with and they got the W.

Anyway, the CPU usually takes between 11-20 midrange shots a game. I even had a game where they shot 22 midrange J's. This game is balanced and realistic, and it's really meant for 12 min quarters.
                        My Specs:

                        ZX Spectrum

Re: Your favirite NBA Live this generation

I've completed 3 games vs the Wizards to test the edits I've made to them, and did a few more tweaks after the 1st and 2nd games. In the third game they destroyed me with amazing defense, something I did not expect. My Pistons shot 35% and lost 118-95.

To celebrate all these 12min-qtr games, I've created a 14-minute video. I could easily create a 30+min video, but I didn't want to go with the YouTube verification, so I ended up deleting a lot of raw gameplay I had recorded, but still included some in the final cut.

I even included some misses by the CPU if it came after a great ball movement because of how beautiful it was. Also included great defensive possessions as well as blocks - even a block by Drummond with 2 hands! As well as nice rebounds, awesome fast breaks, John Wall 1on1 highlights...and lots and lots of goodies!

Finished working on the video at 2am, so I was too tired to wait for it to upload. I will upload tonight.

I was looking for any piece of info about Live 21 and didn't find anything. But instead I came across the official Live 13 cancellation statement.

After a lot of consideration, we have made the decision to not launch NBA LIVE 13. I'd like to give you a bit of perspective.

I remember watching the gameplay video 8 years ago very clearly. Time went by fast! It was a Horrible game, as horrible as Live 07. They did the right thing. Even as mediocre as Live 14 was, it was 100 times better - and still not that good.

But they really improved each game, every year it got better. Taking a year off before 18 was what made 18 so good. Too bad that 19 didn't improve much, and to me it even regressed in some areas.

I was hoping they would take a year off and come back strong with a shiny next gen game. I have no doubt that they can create amazing graphics - 18 looks amazing! If only they put as much effort in their basketball franchise as other developers put in their AAA games.

Highlights from my game vs the Spurs coming tonight. Spurs played a perfect game for 3 quarters. Really, they played like Pop's team, the perfect team game. At some point they were up by 18. I improved my defense in the 3rd and 4th and bit by bit came back until I took the lead with a few minutes left, and just stole the W. Good game! Both Kawhi and Blake were unstoppable.
