It's obvious the success of CFB gave them the confidence to bring back CBB.

I also wonder if NBA Live will return. Hard to imagine that they would build a basketball engine from scratch just for CBB. I wouldn't be surprised if the games gets delayed. Unless they were working on the Live series, I don't know how realistic it is to build a basketball engine from scratch within 3 years

I also wonder if 2k tries to jump in the CBB market as well.

I hope so. Id love to see 2k jump pack in the business of College Hoops. I still play that title to this very day.

with that said, if EA can build on their last basketball game, I'll still be happy. Only thing I didn't like about the last EA college basketball game is that the teams weren't dynamic enough. For me it had very little replay-ability because of this.

Other than that, the presentation was great, the atmosphere was great as well as the player movement/animations on the court.

Being an EA game, it's going to be Frostbite Engine. you are correct that it would be easier/cost effective to put out 2 games with a base code, like CFB/Madden.

          2028 release
          More like 2029
College football had a one year delay
          But this is major

Especially if Scott O'Gallagher is under the helm
He's becoming EA' s Mike Wang in his prime
          2k is in hot water

It would make sense to bring back Live. I don't think the EA NBA license has expired. It would make sense to bring back Live and CBB at the same. I'm not sure if CBB will sell like CFB. There was doubt how well CFB would sell. But, CBB is more niche than CFB is. Having Live back would ease off the CBB pressure

Seems like the same timeline, CFB was announced in 2021 and released in 2024.

Depending how well it does, maybe you'll see College Baseball, but soonest I'd expect that would be in 2032.

Mike Straw did post in December that both EA and 2k was negotiating about a CBB game return. So, hopefully 2k jumps back into the CBB market as well.

I can imagine that. It does seem like EA Sports is trying to expand their portfolio. But, I'm really not sure what the interest is for College Baseball. College Football had obvious demand, and College Basketball was still revered. But, I'm not sure about College Baseball. I mentioned that I think Live should come back alongside it. That is because it'll be cost effective for those games to share the engine.

I'm just not that sure what the interest is for College Baseball. I'm not even sure how well MLB the Show sells

If they do, with 2k already having a basketball game, maybe we would get a college game sooner than 2028?

I think it takes a minimum of 3 years. Plus they're gonna have men's and women's schools. There are 355 men's schools and 344 women's schools, so thats 699 schools. With what? An average of 15 players? So that's over 10K players in the game.

You would think that right. But, I could see a scenario where it'll still be 3 years for 2K, but 4 for EA. The stadiums alone took a very long time for EA and that was with having the Madden engine. But, I can see EA needing another year because they have to build an engine from scratch. 2k might just need 3 years

We do have to consider that there is 364 Division 1 teams in CBB, while there was just 136(134 at the time) College Football teams. That's a ton of arenas they have to scan

I didn’t know there were that many Divisions 1 CBB teams. EA will definitely try to represent all the teams well like they did in CFB 25. Imagining making a March Madness run with Princeton right now lol 🔥

2028/2029. that's a long wait. but it still good to see a college game on the market. this also means it will probably developed for the next gen consoles, PS6 and what ever Xbox will call their next console.
