I get what you're saying, MJ has nothing to do with how the game will actually play, and that the gameplay and whatever fixes they implement will ultimately determine if this game is the GOAT.

BUT..for some people it will be the GOAT just because MJ is on the cover. Yes it that serious, for some people. We don't know how long he is going to be working with 2K, we don't know if he'll be in the game for this one year or for the next 10 years, all we know is that he is in the game now.

For some people, that elevates the game to GOAT status by itself. They don't even need to hear anything else because they're going to buy it regardless, just because of MJ. Being able to play with the Bulls, their rivals, and MJ, with all his moves and whatnot will put this game on another level, for some people.

I agree with what you're saying though. For most of us, it still comes down to the game itself and if the feature-set, presentation, and gameplay are GOAT worthy.

Although I am pretty sure most will be satisfied this year.

You left out the fact that 2k has a pretty good record (with Mr Wang's help) of releasing a pretty darn good product, so yes the addition of MJ would take that fact alone and say yeah, this one is hard to beat

MJ being on the cover is so annoying, all we do now is argue about if it is important or not.

I still think it isn't to the level headed NBA video gamer. Doesn't change the actual software very much at all.

I don't care to play with Jordan, he is retired. I can make him as a CAP if I really want to. Use that space to make sure the framerate doesn't hitch when you go past halfcourt.

2k Did a great marketing Move by paying Jordan to be on the cover, For me it does little because he used tobeat my hawks, but They will have make sure it's the best basketball to date... If the developer insight is all what they say the game is going to be and they rededicate the servers we could have one of the best B-ball titles to date.. I'm always going to support both companies in someway though EA (Fight Night, MMA) and 2kgames (everything) except Bioshock

So since Jordan won't matter and using legends and all that is so confusing to consumers I gotta wonder....why such inclusion of him in Elite? So as mentioned when Moore first opened his mouth to utter this nonsense, sounds to me like sour grapes not getting Jordan on an EA Sports cover.

yeah its a weird decision to base the be a legend mode around Jordan (unloackables, 23 levels etc) when the other team has his likeness on lockdown.

Nba elite 11: "Where you can look at MJ's shoes but can't actually play as him"

I've already pre-ordered both nba games as i do every year so it has no impact on my buying decision but it does seems strange.

You can make him but most people who buy 2K aren't gonna make a CAP of MJ. If he's available to play out of the box people will use him.

Maybe I'm just different ,but I can care less about who's on a cover or Jordan having his own mode or whatever. I care more about the actual product. It's nice to have options but 2K is getting a little bit stale. While EA seems to be going all out. I wont be surprise if Elite matches or even surpasses NBA 2K this year. I hope so to because if so where in for a great year of basketball games.

Through my experience as a coach of kids ranging from 1st grade (summer camps) to middle school and high school I have to say Michael Jordan's name is still super fresh, admired and revered. I was just as surprised to hear kindergarteners mentioning another dated entertainer, Michael Jackson, all the time in conversations in 2008. You'd think these guys would move on from what we were talking about in kindergarten but I guess there's certain people that just carve out a lasting legacy.

Throughout this 2K Jordan thing, I've heard a whole lot of hype coming from the teens I coach about the prosect of using MJ. Further, I acknowledge this is all but a small sample, but my two brothers (14 and 12) absolutely cannot wait to bust out with Michael Jordan this year. It's an instant buy for these guys. After finishing out the Challenge, they're throwing him on the Pistons. On top of everything else, my youngest bro is fiending to get Vinnie Johnson out there to kill it off the bench for his Bad Boys.

Again, I know my experience with kids is just a small sample size, but I think sometimes we sell the young guys short in assuming all they care about is LeBron James and Kobe Bryant.
