I use to really, really love 2K. All the way back to Dreamcast, and Allen Iverson. When it came to 360 it was pretty incredible. What happened IMO though, was a lack of innovation. More of an effort to perfect an engine that has been used for years and years.
I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

Whats really annoying is the people who try to use MJ being on the cover of 2k as a crutch to try to voice their displeasure of the series...lol....

The same people loving Jordans implementation into the game, are the same ones in the Insights threads reading\questioning\debating gameplay issues. It hasmt just been a lovefest. All I know is 2k has made a push this year to correct alot that has been hurting the series the last couple of years...whether people choose to actually read the info they put out on it is up to them...

MJ will matter. Especially once you hit the used market. That extra $10 for online play for a used EA game and Durant or similarly priced game with online and MJ on the cover.

This will just dig a deeper hole for them in basketball gaming.

The idea is fundementally sound in a genre that you have overwhelming market share (Madden/NCAA). But when you are trailing(NBA2k) you better charge $10 AND have MJ on the cover.

Agreed man, people are ignoring the things they've said about gameplay improvements so far they've all been complaining about.

and Inside Drive which is where all of the AI tendencies started

That said, Mr Moore is only human. He's been wrong before and he's wrong THIS time. Nothing wrong with that, it happens.

Seriously, at any age, if you dont know who Michael Jordan is, you have no buisiness buying a NBA basketball game.

I find it funny that anyone would say kids today dont know who the greatest basketball player(by a huge margin) is. Any kid wanting a NBA basketball game know who he is.

Really? Who has done it better? Compared to what? Its argueably the top sports game of the year, every year. Its really between 2k basketball and the show. How do you fault a game who always on top? A game that is #1 in basketball game sales, and yet isnt the giant known as EA?

Sorry, but while I can agree they may hold back on there yearly releases, they still have done a better job then there competition. I actually think its there competetition that has shown them to only make minimal improvements until you need to.

I really think 2k's gonna drop a killer game this year. They didnt just get Jordan for nothing. They have plans Im sure. Plans probably put in motion for along time.

Because they have chosen not to address fundamental gameplay issues every year, instead adding more content. More content is good but it's important to improve on your weaknesses.

Um, the last time EA's basketball title only need to make minimal improvements was on the last generation of consoles. Back then they were still making positive improvements each year. Then they unnecessarily rebuilt the gameplay engine in 06 for the next gen and failed terribly. Every year since they've been trying to dig their way out of the hole.

We all had the same feeling last year for their 10th year anniversary, but that didn't really happen. Nevertheless, 2K10 is still a good game, it just wasn't tested thoroughly enough. Only time will tell for 2K11.

MJ definitely does matter, maybe not for us on this forum but definitely for the casual consumer. I have a friend who bought 2k10 just for Kobe on the cover. He's been a Live guy for years but know he's contemplating sticking with 2k cause he likes the game. He never would have bought it if Kobe wasn't on the cover. The mothers and fathers who buy games for their kids might see MJ on the cover and that will make the choice for them. Not knowing which game is better or not.

Also kids who play, watch, basketball know who Michael Jordan is. Maybe they don't know everything about him but they know something even if it's only about his shoes. MJ has managed to stay relevant and that's why get's on the cover.

First of all if "where you are" is Washington DC like it says on your profile there, then I find it extremely hard to believe that Michael Jordan's name doesn't pop up there considering he's both played for and run the franchise there. That's first and foremost.

Secondly that 'never seen the guy play' rhetoric is cliched and wrong now (for the most part). This is the age of the internet, video on demand and information at the push of a button. ESPNClassic, NBA TV, YouTube pick a format Jordan is shown on there quite regularly. Air Jordan's still sell like Michael is winning MVPs right now, you don't think people at least google the name of the guy who's shoes they're dropping 200 something dollars on when they buy them? There are a lot of moms who have kids when they're in they're early-mid twenties who have been buying they're kids Jordan's since they were babies (if someone can find the stats on Baby Jordan's sales that'd be great) Jordan is ingrained in everyone's consciousness at this point. It's not like Wilt where there is no film of him to go check out and learn about him.

I don't know if you've got some personal beef with MJ or what it is, but your gross understating of the Jordan legacy in this thread is pretty ridiculous at this point.

It's more a 2K thing lol. Either way I agree Jordans are one of the most popular brands of shoes out. I showed my co-worker's son the teaser MJ video and the first thing out of his mouth was "He has those Jordan [whatever the hell the number was - I don't even know]'s on. That looks smooth... definitely getting that". I'm in the DC area too and no, he wasn't saying it just because of the shoes. He knew who Jordan is.
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period
