Remember this thread? Lots of good discussion. I linked Page 6 b/c it is where we started talking about strategy. That discussion lasts for many pages. I imagine this stuff is still applicable to 2k8.

when dealing with recruits I am looking for help. first year in closed legacy. I figure I am not getting 4 or 5 star recruits. I would love to give scholarships to all 3 stars. If I want to sign players during early season recruiting do I have to stick to 2 Star players. I know you can get lucky and get a 3 star but what are some of the strategies guys use. also. is it worth recruiting a 1 or 2 star player. or do you go by the stars or the player ratings. i know ratings are based on your coach scouting but are the stars based on your coach scouting. I guess the question comes up because I had a 2 star point guard that was interested in me. he was in the ABL so I kept track of him. he was 2 star and had about b ratings in everything. one rating was B+ one was a B- but mostly B's. any way during the ABL tourney (I think its called ABL) but he averaged about 11 points and 5 Assist. not bad for a pg for a lower tier school. i didn't offer him a scholarship or anything and he was last on my target list because he was a 2 star and I was scared he would come in rated like a 55. would you guys have picked him up based on his letter ratings or his ABL statistics or because he was a 2 star or just left him alone. I wonder if I should be signing 2 star players which I never have in before even in previous years.

I typically go for two star players in the first year of a career legacy. Unlike some I'm completely against trying to go get international guys to make your team better quick because it's easy. I had 3 scholorships to offer, and I went after two 2* players that I knew I had a very good chance at getting, and one 3* player with hopes of getting someone that could step up for me the upcoming year.

I remember this thread very well. It was the best discussion of both general basketball and specific 2k6 strategy found in any of these threads.

First year you should feel fortunate to get that 2 star that is B rated.
He probably would be in the 70's his second year if not first.
I dont worry about stats in ABL, just toss them out. Pick a few players that have you in their top 5 or who dont yet have 5 schools after them. Play as many games as you can in ABL with their team. You should have a complete rating chart with potential and tendencies included. Nothing left to chance. Ignore the stars. If they have good ratings for their position they are good to go, go for them. They are good players. Remember you are a scrub team and even if he was a 50 something freshman he could nearly start for you m progression makes him very solid with playing time. Dont plan on starting freshman but give them plenty of reps and they will turn out nicely as sophmores.

Also I beleive that the Ratings are not dependant on your coaches scouting ability. His scouting rating merely decides how much information you get from each scouting event/trip/tape. So a low scouting rating means he might get 5 categories from an ABL game but a high scouting rating means he would get say 15 for example. I dont think the ratings are incorrect, once you uncover them they are correct.

Off Awareness from 40 to 45
Drive from 75 to 100
3pt shooting from 50 to 45
Help Defense is 100
Help Recovery is 100
Team Unity 100

I love the settings so far. both games i played I was on the edge of my seat. I lost both games 57 to 52 and 62 to 52 somewhere in that neighborhood. both games was competitive. my team seem to respond right. stats seemed to be in order although I didn't go thru with a magnified glass. but the games were fun. all other settings were the exact same as OSUPipers 2.5 settings which I liked the best. all settings were rounded up to the nearest number.

If you want to draw fouls and attack the middle use the pick and roll, post up and isolation when you see the proper spacing develope. This keeps you in the game! Until I started using these plays I would sometimes get frustrated with my player's decisions but now I can "yell at them" and get them going

All I have changed is:

max fouls
15 minute half
mop level

I see fast breaks and sometimes a guy will crossover and go to the lane for a dunk. Once my pg after calling iso "broke his defenders ankle" only to be fouled hard by the next defender but my pg threw up one of those reverse shots and went to the line. It was great!

If you can get a FAST pg he will help you get the fast break going.

I haven't played LG 08 but there's absolutely no way to coach mode 08 on NG. I played through 6 seasons of a Utah State dynasty as the QB only before trading it in toward NBA 2k8...which I'm about to play now. I'll probably be trading NBA 2K8 and CH 2K7 in at the end of the week toward CH 2K8.

Is this 360? Do you mind posting the settings file on 2kShare?

Or anyone else that has settings they are happy with. I would like to download some of these sliders and test them out and yes I am very lazy I could look in this thread, go to the link for OSUPiper's previous 2.5 settings, then plug them into the game while making the changes from cad4life, but then what good is having 2kShare if I have to do it all manually?

If you can't post it on 2kShare, I would love to see the entire settings posted instead of partly here and partly in another thread, if you don't mind.
