when changing and altering sliders do you guys make it a rule to keep human and cpu sliders the exact change. so a change in one would automatically trigger and change in the other.

Re: ***OS's Official College Hoops 2k8 Coach Mode Central***
With this game I tend to think of it more of a home/away sort of thing rather than a human/cpu thing, especially now with the "6th man" feature. The "6th man" feature should tend to even out any special advantages, if any, the human controlled team may have when the cpu coached team is at home.
I don't know if that answers your question or not.
I guess the answer for me would be yes, especially since we are just coaching the game and the console is controlling the players. If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in english, thank a soldier.Comment

I keep them exactly the same. I have no idea what the effect would be of having them separate. So far I have had good luck doing this.Comment

Re: ***OS's Official College Hoops 2k8 Coach Mode Central***
I know we are using different generation systems but someone tell me if this is a problem and possible solutions. I have no problems with shot selections or any other game play issues everything seems to be perfect on the surface. my observation is I am shooting a 3pt% of .426 and my opponents against me is shooting .290. my .426 is good for 5th in the country. here is my significant 3point shooters using Texas State
white 7 for 10 .700
holder 38 for 69 .550
bush 11 for 28 .392
jefferson 8 for 24 .333
agwumaro 6 for 19 .315
the bottom 3 I don't really have a problem with. my numbers seem to be skewed by Holder. he is an 85 for a B with 3 pointers and seems to take most of my 3 pointers. I don't think white has enough shots for me to care at this point but Holder seems to be the person out of whack. I tried lowering the 3pt success and it doesn't really seem to affect my team because he is usually the one shooting but it does affect the cpu team. i just lower it by one and they can't seem to hit a 3 pointer. now it may not be an issue because it seems only one person on my team has great 3 point numbers but then again it may be a problem. I am guessing if I didn't have him for one the numbers wouldn't be skewed like that. I was just looking for some insight. this seems to be the only thing I can see as a problem. of course my opponent .290% puts me at about 5th in the nation also. I do play tight defense on the pg and sg. may have an affect. I could raise the 3 point % and maybe the cpu numbers will go up but I am worried that may make my numbers go up also and I dont want my 3point % going up. any suggestions or comments would be very helpful. thanksComment

Re: ***OS's Official College Hoops 2k8 Coach Mode Central***
also other observations. I play straight man to man with no one being doubled team. most of the cpu 3pointers are contested and I get quite a few wide open looks. maybe a lot to do with shot selection. I will be quiet now and wait on opinions.Comment

Also, if you play a tight defense, it would probably lower the chance of a successful outside shot but it also raises the probability of the player driving to the hoop.Last edited by doncoryell; 12-30-2007, 11:20 AM.If you can read this, thank a teacher. Re: ***OS's Official College Hoops 2k8 Coach Mode Central***
As for the tight D issue, the "fair" way to play (that is, the basic principle I use when setting sliders) is that every strategy must have some balance, a risk-reward relationship. By playing tight D, what do you give up? If you do not foul any more in tight D or lose STAMINA more quickly, my solution is you are not allowed to play tight D. Another solution is for every man playing tight D you have to switch someone else to loose D to create a tradeoff. I know this sucks and hampers Coach Mode, but it will make the stats even out in some way and you will have a more challenging game.
If as donc suggests, tight D makes you subject to dribble-drives by opposing guards, then take a look and see if that REALLY happens in your games. If not, up the drive tendency and see if it starts happening.
Secondly, shot tendencies may be off for your game. Lowering 3 tendency and 3pFG% sliders might even the field a bit. Consider, opposing teams are taking 3s with a guy in their face already, so this will not greatly affect them. In comparison, a lower 3FG% for your team might bring things more in line.
Sliders should be set so that teams play to set up the hightest % shots they can get. It will not happen every time b/c the defense is trying to deny that shot. It becomes game theory, like a chess match. But if the CPU is launching shots that should not be the first option (ie - guarded 3s), then tweak the sliders until the CPU finds a way to consistently beat what you are doing (when the CPU SHOULD beat you of course, not every time). Do this, and you will have great sliders.Comment

Re: ***OS's Official College Hoops 2k8 Coach Mode Central***
That may not be happening, though. I did suggest that the defense would be more subjectable to more drives by the guards, or forwards for that matter, but that would be up to the player's individual shooting tendencies, NOT the shooting tendency sliders. cad should not try to force the issue of shot selection by changing the shooting tendency sliders. If you can read this, thank a teacher. Re: ***OS's Official College Hoops 2k8 Coach Mode Central***
cad, Texas State is currently shooting .356 (90-253) from 3pt range and their opponents are shooting .289 (66-228) from beyond the arc. That is through 11 games. I really don't see anything that much wrong. Your team's 3pt% is not really that far off and the opponent's 3pt% is dead-on.
Holder may just be getting a lot of wide open looks and the defender may be playing him very loose, which both increase the probability of the shot being successful. If he happens to get hot and get into a mental "zone", his confidence level during that time is probably increasing. I know that mine would!
If the teams are putting up too many shots from 3pt land, then you may want to test (outside of your legacy) the number of 3pt shots by lowering the 3pt shooting slider. Look at the 3pta/fga ratio of the teams first and compare it to what has transpired on the court. Don't change the 3pt range (percentage) slider because the opponent's 3pt% is dead-on. However, by changing the tendency slider it may also affect the 3pt% as well.
From my stand point, after taking a look at what has already transpired on the court, you really don't need to change anything. Your team's 3pt% is not really that far off, although it imay be a little high for your thinking.
I also strongly suggest not touching the player's individual attributes at all!Last edited by doncoryell; 12-30-2007, 11:57 AM.If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in english, thank a soldier.Comment

All my tendancies are at 0 and I am loving it. we are talking about on average 8 to 10 3pointers a game. and it really don't seem to be affecting the games too much. I guess its only a difference of hitting 1 or 2 3pointers a game. I really have to its a more natural flow with the tendancies at 0 but again we are on different generations. I also looked at the field goal percentage and my team was doing about .437 and the oppossing team was about .440. Again thanks for the help I knew I could count on you guys to put it in perspective.Comment

Even though I'm still on 2K7 I must say that the 2-3 is the hardest defensive in this game. No matter what, your guys always opt for the 3pter and teams can hang around with you.F-L-O-R-I-D-A! S-T-A-T-E! Florida State! Florida State! Florida State! Wooooo!Comment

Re: ***OS's Official College Hoops 2k8 Coach Mode Central***
Ok, so are the ones that are figuring the best way to play this only playing on the ps2? Does anyone have the 360 version figured out? And if so, can we get a post that shows what the "current" or most recent settings and or sliders are? Just one post to clarify? And if this is only for ps2, do the settings translate to the next gen?
I am going to be starting a coaching legacy soon so I want to test them out but I truly am confused as to which systems everyone in this thread are using.#WeAreUKComment

Great Cad, thank you very much. Do you have these posted on 2kShare? I will probably get to try them this evening or tonight sometime and once I have a game or two I will let you know how it worked out for me. Thanks again.#WeAreUKComment
