Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Just won my first regular season game...after winning the NIT...with Nicholls

I've beaten UTEP, Oral Roberts, tOSU, Washington, and Florida. My closes game was 8 to tOSU. I throttled Florida by 22.

I think I may need to adjust sliders a bit.

Didn't like playinhg 8-second or less basketball...jacking up 3's all over the place. Just not my style.

Started a new legacy with Maine. I still like to get out and run on the fast break (playing a lot of 3-2 zone), but when I can't get on the break I like to work the ball inside. I'm trying to run the triangle offense...we'll see how it works.

Also started using rspencers sliders. What a difference. Plays a much better game than before.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

In my 5th season of my legacy, coaching at Alcorn State. I reached the NITs my 1st season and my 4th season and have won the conference twice (in the regular season I mean). Was offered the job at Buffalo after my 4th season (which is attractive to me because I'm from the area in real life) but I turned it down because I was able to win the conference and the only guys that graduated were two guys that averaged about 5 minutes per game between them, so I decided to come back and make a serious run at an NCAA Tournament bid. The past two seasons, I've scheduled tough non-conference games. I went 0-13 in non-conference play in my 4th season, but this year, I pulled off wins over Michigan, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Rutgers (with losses to #9 Xavier, #9 Villanova, and #2 Texas). Ran through the conference schedule but finished 2nd in the conference (3 teams had 20+ wins). And now, I'm in the SWAC Championship game against the #1 team, Prarie View. I'm going to play that one tomorrow, but I'm pretty pumped that I might finally get into the big dance. I'm not really sure if I'm going to leave after this season or if I'm going to stick around, but I'll be losing my school's leading career scorer along with two 70+ overall bigs, so if I get a good offer from a mid-major team, I might take it this time around.

Missed the Final 4 again in the Elite 8. Lost to #1 seeded PITT by 4 by giving up 6 or 8 pts in the final 3 mins of the game. Now after being with siena for 4 years now and with the #1 recruiting class with the best PG and 4 4 star perimeter players, I can see a Final 4 spot in a year or two.

I started a legacy with Central Michigan. My record is 7-5. My biggest win was Iowa and Pittsburgh. I recruited 3 2* a center 7'1 and a 6'3 sg and a 6'1 pg. I got 4 seniors in my starting lineup so next year will a rebuilding year .

Just finished the SWAC Title game. I was down 11 with 2 minutes left and made a run, forced a couple of turnovers with my 2-3 zone and got it down to 1 point with about 40 seconds left. They hit free throws to make it a 3 point game and i got the ball at half court with 4 seconds left. Inbounded to my best 3 point shooter and he nailed a 3 with 1.1 left to send it to OT where I won 85-82. This game was a slopfest from start to finish. 26 turnovers for Prairie View and 20 turnovers for me, but my 3 point shooter finished with 30 points to send me to the Big Dance for the first time.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

haven't posted on here awhile, but i had a Northern Colorado thing going, i jetted out of there after year 2 with virtually no accomplishments, took a job at Tennessee State in the OVC, kind of a lateral move but i was really struggling with northern colorado. I inherited a real nice JR point guard and real nice SR small forward, simulated the first season however so i could get some recruits in, actually had a real nice recruiting class, 4* pg out of Illinois (he's 5'8, so i think he was under-recruited) also a real nice 4* sg who is 6'6, i have no idea how i got him... also signed a 3* small forward at 6'7.

i've played 4 games, gave myself a real tough schedule, opened up with a 7 point loss to memphis in the 2k sports classic, (i'm going to schedule this one every year, its played in Memphis' building it would be a nice little rivalry between memphis and tennessee state) i just finished playing Michigan and i stuck it to them won by about 13 .

my 2 wing players are both lights-out from the mid-range i run a 2 point guard lineup with my senior (has a 92 layup rating!!! 6'1 built like a running back) and my 5'8 guy handles the ball he has 82 handling and 82 passing. i bring the small forward off the bench with the 6'6 SG starting at SF. my bigs do their jobs rebound the ball well and run the floor well cleanin up messes and i can go to them in the post on occasion....

i have a real nice squad, my 4th overall season, 2nd with tennessee state and i think i can make a run at the tournament (tennessee tech and tennessee martin are both about as good as me in conf.) but i love the way my team plays.

Got into the tourny as the #13 seed facing #4 Villanova. Pulled off an 82-80 upset before getting thrashed by #5 South Carolina in the 2nd round (like 70 something to 39). Best job offer I got was from Canisius, so I decided to return to Alcorn State again instead of leaving for Canisius or Toledo. Lost two of my big contributers from last year, and lost a guy that was going to fill in for them as he decided to leave the team, but I'm going into the season as an 80 overall which should work pretty nicely in the SWAC.

Edit: After one or two more seasons at Alcorn State, I left to take the job at Hawaii. First season we made it to the 2nd round of the Big Dance and I landed 2 5 star recruits (a 7'1" C and a 6'5" PG).

As I started my 2nd season at Hawaii, the freshman C came in at a 75 overall with A potential, 6'5" PG just a 61 overall but A+ potential. I threw my C into the starting lineup right away and redshirted the PG.

Once again using my strategy of playing a lot of power conference teams in my non-conference schedule, Hawaii went 1-2 against top 25 teams with a win over then #13 Washington. I won the conference in the regular season and won the conference tournament as well, earning a #12 seed in the big dance matched up against Texas (they are a 99 overall, I'm a 92).

huge win for my kent st golden flashes. 16-11 (12-4) 2nd seed in mac had to face buffalo who had served me up two losses in regular season. they lead much of game but my 2 freshaman came thru in the end. and pulled it out 71-69 to advance to semis of mac tourny...gotta win to get in

stated my VMI legacy today. I am 4-1, with my only loss to VCU by 4. I beat Georgia with a huge first half, but my 2nd half was garbage and almost blew it. Also i was in the O'Reilly Parts tourny. Beat ULM in the first and beat Chicago St in the finals (they beat Michigan State by 17...). So Now I play Central Michigan in the semis and then ill play the championship or 3rd place game the day after, and then Ohio State the day after that... Not really what i expected but it happens and well see what we can do. Overall Ive been solid; havent put up real VMI numbers of over 100 ppg, but im scoring. got 3 guys averaging around 15 and a few others a little below 10.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

i'm at 6-6 now with my tennessee state squad, i had my star freshman SG Josip Vargas injured for a few games and that was tough, battled through that, i have had some terribly inconsistant three point shooting and i've been having a lot of trouble with 2-3 zones. i'm 3-1 in conference though, and i'm rated better than everyone except the other 2 tennessee schools we're about even.

i really do like my guys, but for whatever reason i've had to come back in a lot, probably all of the games i've played and sometimes against teams that are significantly worse than myself, i'm 6-6 now but if i keep going down 10-15 points and having to battle back its going to be very stressful... oh well... i got 3 really nice freshman and a nice junior power forward so while i'm looking to make a run this year, i still have next year to look forward to

I usually play 2-3 Zone, but I knew that wasn't going to cut it due to the shooters every good team seems to have, so played a bit more man and it worked beautifully. We controlled the tempo and were able to pull the upset 58-46.

Next up we had to go on the road @Maryland and @UNC. Against Maryland we started slow but held the composure to take a 4 point lead into halftime. The lead grew to 8 when we went up 48-40 on an and 1. But MD would come back to make it close at the end. It turned into a FT contest, and for some reason my team sucks at free throws. Missed the front end of a 1 and 1, but got the O reb to go up 3 with less than 20 sec left. Then I decided to foul rather than let them make a 3 and tie it, and they made both of their FTs. So I was at the line again, and missed the front end of a 1 and 1 to give them 1 last shot. They brought it up with 6 sec, had a seemingly open shot, but somehow I got enough pressure to force the miss as time expired. WAKE 64, #4 MD 63.

Next up was UNC, the team I turned down to come to Wake. They had beaten Duke earlier this week, so a win would mean the #1 ranking. Went up 5 at halftime, but they went on a 7-0 run to take the early 2nd half lead. But we stuck with it. My freshman big man Raius Matela was a beast on the boards. 10 second chance points was the difference, and kept us in the game. But UNC was just too deep, too much talent, and pulled away late to win 82-70 and claim the top spot.

So now I reside at 15-3, 2-2 in the ACC w/ games vs #15 FSU and @ Va Tech next week. Not too bad for a team that only won 6 games last year, and went 2-14 in conference.

And the ACC is still a juggernaut. 6 of the top 7 in the media poll are from the ACC, and Ga Tech and FSU are also ranked in the top 20.
Just finished week 3 of the ACC schedule. First up was a home game against #15 Florida State. We dominated from start to finish and won convincingly 78-66. We're now 3-2 vs ranked opponents this year.

Next up was a game at unranked Va Tech. They pretty much dominated from the start. A big factor was my big man Matela being hurt with a sore knee, that really affected my rebounding game. At halftime they led 39-28, and stretched the lead to as much as 16 in the 2nd half. I even smashed a controller due to the frustration of them seemingly scoring at will. But then the comeback kicked in. Was able to switch the full court press into full effect, and it worked to force a few turnovers.

We comeback to tie it at 72, but they scored three straight baskets to take the lead 78-72. It seemed bleak. But we dug in again, got bakc within 2 when an errant pass led to an easy fast break layup for me to tie the game at 78. Their next trip down they couldn't score, and I had the ball for the last possession of the game. I let my PF Courtnei Oliver drive to the hoop...and he was fouled. 2 Free throws. I've already noted how I've struggled w/ FTs this year, so this was not automatic. But Courtnei stepped up and made both FTs to give us the 2 pt lead w/ 3.5 sec left. They had one last shot. A full court pass and a mid range jumper...no good! Wake completes the comeback! Wake 80, VT 78.

Now Wake stands solidly at 17-3, and 4-2 in the mighty ACC.

And we're ranked! #21 in the nation now. So exciting.

Next week it's 2 home games against #10 Miami and a rematch w/ #3 Maryland.
