Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Played a close game in my Rice dynasty against Texas A&M. I started out losing 23-8 at the beginning of the first half and somehow managed to come back and keep the score with 4 points the rest of the game. I took the lead 43-39 in the second half with 9:03 to go. I was too aggressive with contesting shots which led to more free throw opportunities with less than a minute to go. I ended up losing 63-59!

Most of the teams in Conf USA in this game have winning records (thats usually not a good b'ball conference so that is strange) so my conference play schedule is gonna be exteremly tough. My record is now 2-10..I am wondering if i should just sim, recruit and start my next year.

Has anyone rebounded from this type of record to have a winning season and make the NCAA tourney?

I started off my very first season at UC Riverside 2-9, finished up 16-14 and won the conf tourney to make the NCAAs as a #16 seed. There's hope.

Ahh thank you...I simmed one too many of my games thinking I had some easy ones but when you are a school like Rice, you cant do that. So i will play my games from here on out. may take a while but at least i got a chance to win.

Yeah I had one where I started 1-11 and still made the tourney at 14-14, it was the play-in game, which I simmed and lost haha.

Idaho State. I simmed the nonconference and we got killed, only win was by 1 pt. Then went 13-3, winning conference tourney to barely sneak in.

R2: vs #6 St. Joes. Was down 43-40 at halftime. Then started the 2nd Half on a 25-0 Run, and outscored St Joes 46-19 in the 2nd Half to win 86-62.

Sweet 16: vs #2 Duke. Jumped out to 39-25 lead at halftime. Held off Duke to win 72-64 and advance to Elite 8.

Elite 8: #1 Alabama. Jumped out to 25-4 lead to start the game. Bama came back to make it 39-28 at halftime, and came within 6 at one point in the 2nd half. But we pulled away late to seal it 78-55 and earn my first Final Four appearance.

Nat'l SF: vs #4 Vandy. Vandy jumped on us early 8-0, but we held tight and were able to take the lead into halftime 39-36. After that we stepped it up defensively holding Vandy to 21 2nd half pts to win 67-57.

Nat'l Championship Game: vs #3 Kentucky. Got their star C Radakovic into early foul trouble, which helped us alot. Led at half 33-29. 2nd half was back and forth all throughout. Trading the lead multiple times. Big shot after big shot. Finally we had a key sequence where our star PF Wong got a steal and an and 1 to put us up 6 late. Finally outlasted the UK onslaught in the 2nd half to win it 81-75 and clinch the first National Title in North Texas History.
After winning the NC with UNT, I had a lot of job offers. The ones that stood out were Wisconsin to take over for retiring Bo Ryan, FSU to take over for retiring Leonard Hamilton, and DePaul. I didn't want Wisconsin b/c I'm not a Big Ten guy, didn't want FSU b/c it's not a basketball school, believe it or not I almost chose DePaul b/c I wanted the challenge of building again, especially in the Big East. In the end I decided that the team I was returning to, with all of my guys coming back at UNT, was too much to pass up on, and stayed at North Texas for one more year, for now.

Started playing again last night after another long hiatus. Season 8 of my Legacy now, 5th season at North Texas. Defending National Champs with ALL of my players returning, talk about pressure. Started off the season by winning the 2K Classic, beating Alcorn St., Oklahoma in Norman ("neutral" game) and beat Dayton and South Carolina at the Garden. This propelled us into the top 10 at #7.

Then went on the road to SMU. This was where I picked up at after about a month away from playing. And I was rusty...but no excuses. We lost 75-65, first loss since losing at Western Kentucky last year, 23 game win streak snapped.

So now we stand at 5-1, #10 in the country (#23 in Coaches Poll for some reason, I guess I'm not popular among the coaches). Still a few more non-conference games, like at Texas Tech and home against Baylor. I really wanted to go undefeated considering my entire team is back, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Now refocus the goals - win the conference, win the conference tournament, and take it from there.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

so i've done a lot of simming lately, but i've landed at St. Johns in the basement of the big east... i played 5 years at Long Island, long enough to see my first recrutiing class graduate, made it to the Sweet 16 once and took a job at Gonzaga, i believe Mark Few accepted a job at a big time power school. i never planned to stay at Gonzaga very long because the local and regional talent isn't up to my standards having been at Long Island, and Gonzaga was significantly better than the rest of the conference so it was just going to be like Long Island all over again. i ended up simming 3 years there, recruited some good players but as i said i jetted for St. Johns because A) i wanted that Big East competition and B) they're a New York school so i can work with the same AAU and High School coaches that i worked with at Long Island (bit of imagination there, but how cool would it be if the game could quantify that some way?) they had 3 3*'s already signed, and i ended up signing a 4* 7' Center outta Ohio who i was heavily recruiting while in Spokane. one of the 3*'s i already cut because he was a SG and i had a walk-on SG who is even better lol lucky me. another of the freshman is going to be a lifetime backup C but he should do that job nicely. i am sitting at 3-3 in my first season there, notable win over Gonzaga, notable got-my-***-kicked against Duke, my freshman Center has been DOMINANT he's a 79 overall and i've been using him mostly on PLAYER LOCK.. i'm averaging about 22 and 12 with him so far even against far better front lines. i also have a nice scorer at SF who can stroke it and can get very streaky and light up 10-15 points in a row for me at times

i'm hoping my dynamic duo of my Center and SF can lead me to a middle of the pack finish in the Big East for this years goal

as for my long-term goals i want to turn St. Johns into a yearly contender, and win a championship or 2 there. then i want to take my coaching career back to my home state of Illinois and see what i can do with Chicago recruits in my back yard

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Finished the first year of my dynasty with Rice. Ended a 5-24 season with a blowout loss to Southern Miss in the Conf USA tourney, 75-35. Signed a 3* SF at the beginning of offseason recruiting, but I'm really in need of a PF or a C since two of my PF's graduated and we didnt have the much luck this season in defending in the paint (my team is only rated a 67 in defense anyway).

I had three job offers--Coastal Carolina, Stephen F. Austin, and Univ. of Tenn-Martin...I dont see how i got them since I had such a horrible record but i decided to turn them all down and stay another year with Rice.

Hopefully I can at least get to ten wins next season. I am not that great with the shot stick so i really need to practice with that before I start another season. My team is rated a 75 in shooting so i shouldnt be missing ten consecutive shots or more like I did in the conference tourney.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Just won my first national championship with Fresno State. Recruited lots of local talent in California. My first year there I won the NIT Championship. Then I went 2 years without making any kind of post season play. I get my first All-American recruit and he leads my team through most of the season only to get hurt right before the conference tourny. My SR pg, who holds the team together, leads me to the final 4 which i end up blowing out a 1 seed. Then my Freshman Pg comes back and leads me to a championship over UNC.

I almost repeated the next year but I got knocked out in the final 4. I did all of this through hoopcast. I took a job at FSU immediately after leaving behind undoubtedly my best team ever with about 4 or 5 future draft picks.

About to play Georgetown In the Conference Championship. They are a bubble team and we should snag a at large bid at 29-4. Teams are closely matched as far as DEF, OFF, and OVR with a +/-2 difference. We'll see who wants it more.
