Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

just started a new closed legacy with funckyfresh's roster at UMBC.

sweet uniforms, nice court, but my god this team is so bad at putting the ball in the basket. we manage to keep games close due to slowing the game down and playing good D (only 2 teams have scored >60 points on us in 6 games), but due to this teams' lack of shooting ability it's tough to score enough points to win.

got blown out by oklahoma and george washington, had two tough losses against denver (double ot game, should have won it in regulation) and richmond (was ahead late but they got a key offensive rebound and a putback on a free throw). only win was a dominant 56-38 victory over st. peter's.

i have 4 schollies to use, and two priorities: shooting and size. going after a 6'10" 2* center that put up 14 boards a game in the ABL, another 3 star 6'9" center and a 6'4" SG 3* who can shoot. the early signing week is this week so i hope we get at least one of these guys..

my best players have been freshman SF chase plummer (the only guy on the team who has a decent shot 42% from 3 and nobody else is above 25%) and senior C james frye, who is averaging 12 and 11.

rough start, but the schedule is getting a little lighter coming up -- i'd like to get a .500 record before conference play starts.

I've managed to post a 16-6 record, with three games to go in the regular season. I'm currently tied with Jackson State, who is my only loss since this last update.
Grambling isn't a great team at all, you might look at the record and think that I've done a good job. Fact is, the entire SWAC is pretty weak and being good within this conference isn't all that difficult. I think every SWAC team was a possible choice when I was looking at the teams to choose from for this closed legacy.

That said, unless I get a really intriguing offer after this year, I'll stay at Grambling.
Earlier today I played a game that had one of the best endings I've ever had in this game. It was me hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Second meeting this season, we lost in the first meeting at PB. Revenge was on the brain, I cannot lie. This was a back and forth game, one of those games where one team goes on a run for a little bit and pulls ahaed but then the other gets their own run and fights back.
Fast forward to under two minutes to go in the game, I'm down 49-43. This being a game of runs, I end up scoring 8 points in the matter of 1:10, without giving up anything. 51-49, they go down and get fouled, hit both free throws. Tie ball game, around :30 to go. They steal the ball, thanks to the full court trap they threw on me and get an easy layup. 53-51.
I find my C Frank Snow underneath, but he misses the incredibly easy close shot, it gets rebounded by PB with around 15 seconds to go. BUT by some miracle, Snow steals the ball away and lays it in to tie it up. WHAT.

I didn't see that coming, but hey I'm not complaining. They push the ball down the floor, finding their star player who takes a contested jumper from mid range. Contested, in this case, meaning SWATTED. 6 seconds left and I call a timeout as soon as my guy had the ball. 53-53. I get my best shooters out on the court, hoping for the best. Otherwise, it's OT.

Inbound just before mid-court and they're playing that trap again. My guard gets it, then gets trapped quickly passing out of it right into an opposing player. It bounces off him, into the hands of one of my forwards. 3 seconds. I meant to pass it to a nearby guard to throw up a three(I panicked and didn't use button passing), but instead he guns it down the floor to Snow, who's one on one in the paint. I'm like "SHOOT IT SHOOT IT THERE'S NO TIME SHOOOOOOOT." He gets it off with nearly no time to spare...the lay up...bounces around the rim, and...it rolls out, no good! But wait! Snow was fouled while shooting with 0.2 seconds to go! He's going to the line for two!!!
He made both FTs and the rest was history, a victory in favor of Grambling. I tell ya, those were the most intense free throws I've ever taken in a video game.

55-53 in one of the most unlikely endings I've experienced in 2k8. Passing it to a guy I didn't want to, getting the shot off at almost the last possible second and getting fouled right at the end? Crazy.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Just got this game and I have to say, the best 6 bucks I ever spent.

I started with 09-10 rosters and Monmouth. Ran Colgate out of the gym then faced Seton Hall....and my hopes for a undefeated season were quickly dashed. Got hammered by Notre Dame and then hit a buzzer beater against Wichita State...

Have one guy avg about 21 a game, and a good shooter. Still not sure how all the buttons work and I am running the playground style of offense but so far 3-2....

Fun game, really enjoying it so far...keep the updates coming fellas

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Had to start a new legacy, went with St. Francis (NY). Had 20 wins in my first year winning the NEC reg season championship, but lost in the tourn. final to Saint Francis (PA) and lost in the first round of the NIT.

Two games left in year 2 sitting at 18-8 & 12-3, 0.5 game behind Fairleigh Dickinson who has won 12 games in a row (I won the only meeting). Next game is against third-place Saint Francis (PA)

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Today I started my 4 team legacy with Bucknell, Northern Colorado, Southern Utah & Tennessee State

2010-11 schedules and perfect rosters for all four teams, MOP, 18min halves, funkyfresh roster plus my edits & 500bloc sliders plus my edits

recruiting for 4 teams is really fun... I created myself (2 star SG) and now all 4 teams are trying to recruit me

finished all midnight madness games and so far only one competitive game and that was Bucknell @ Villanova... UPSET CITY! HA HA... had only 3 turnovers, perfect from the charity stripe (14/14), hit 9 threes and took the shot clock under 15 secs on almost every possession I had... Mike Muscala had 20 Pts & 9 Reb, Cameron Ayers 10 Pts and Darryl Shazier 8 Pts & 4 Ast... the final score was 69-60 Bison

the schedule doesn't get easier for Bucknell... next game is a road game and against a big east opponent again this time Marquette Golden Eagles... but before that game Drake will host Southern Utah

thanks man and yes i will be playing every single game (really dont like to sim my games)

if two of my teams meet in NC? ah dont think that will ever happen but if it does i would play one half for Team A and one half for Team B (in open legacy im 99% sure they let you choose sides)... i would do the same if two teams meet in the regular season

I just got this game and I'm really really excited, I played a couple quick games just to get a feel for it. I'm playing on HOP, and I started a Closed Legacy with Citadel of the Southern Conference. I scheduled a tough non-conference schedule to hopefully be able to gather experience and learn from the best. Those games are, Duke, Notre Dame, Michigan and USC, with a couple winnable games against CS Fullerton (my school) and Boston University and 2 tournaments. I don't expect to make the NCAA Tournament but my conference is very winnable, and IMO my best hope is the conference tournament, which I hope is neutral court lol. As soon as I find some HOP sliders I'm good to go.

It feels good to join to the CHoops2K family, the few of you.

I play the full 20 minute halves. I have a hard time playing any shorter amount of time, it just doesn't feel right to me for some reason if it's not at 20.

Same here, man. I just bought the game this past week, but tonight's the first night I'll have access to my PS3. I cannot wait to start up a closed legacy!

Good luck with yours, btw. Have fun!

What's the final scores of your games, I want to play on 20 min. halves but I don't wanna be shooting 58% and scores in the mid 90s.

I use rspencers 20-Minute All-Conference Sliders to avoid absurd shooting percentages and crazy scores.
I get amazingly realistic stats and outcomes with this slider set. I highly recommend it. If you're wondering about All-Conference being too easy, don't be fooled. You WILL be challenged.
