Welp, beat Mizzou by two points in a defensive struggle. Really tough win.

Then, beat 3 seed Duke by 5 in another tough game.

So, I'm off to my first Sweet 16!

Season #4 - Finished at 26-4 and heading into tournament as a #10 seed against #7 Pitt to start..Let's see how it goes for the Matadons!!!

Well up 65-62 with :30 to go and their center hits a layup and gets fouled and hits the free throw and ties it. IPFW comes down and misses and fouls at the other end with :12 to go. Pitt misses the free throws and my center scores with :02 left and we win 67-65.. i am currently playing Oregon #2 and they are running me out of the gym down by 18 at the half. So again I can't get that deep run in the tourney.

Went up against 10 seed LSU in the Sweet 16.

A little background from my little CH2k8 universe:

Last year LSU was an 11 seed. They had a 9-7 conference record, finishing 4th in the SEC. Their highest rated player was 86ovr. However, they stomped through their regional, crushing everyone by around 20 points until the final four. After a tough final four game, they beat Texas by 30 points for the national championship.

They returned 2 starters, but I wasn't going to look past them.

I was up 2 at half and pulled away in the second half, securing my spot in the Elite 8.

It was an interesting game, because all of LSU's talent was in their big men. All season long I had dominated down low. This tourney, I had had to worry about superior guards. Anyway, my big men played well and my Center, Smithson had 18 points.

I face 1 seed Texas in the Elite 8, ranked 97 over. LOL. Time to sell my team on David vs Goliath?

So here is my lineup to start season #5:

            pg/sg Phillip Mascoll 6'3 210 SR 73 rating
sg Jalen Ragland 6'6 191 SR 74 rating
sf Marko Buckman 6'6 213 SO 75 rating
pf Vince Ryan 6'9 244 SO 74 rating
            c Terrance Callahan 6'10 254 SR 78 rating

sg Brannon Clemmons 6'4 199 FR 72 rating
            sf/pf Cassiano North 6'8 229 SR 70 rating
            sf/pf Pervis Hacomb 6'6 226 JR 72 rating
            c Stephane Riley 6'10 245 JR 69 rating
PF Matthew Jackson 610 236 FR 67 rating
pg Gabriel Foster 6'2 196 FR 75 rating

            Offense 84
            Defense 79
            Overall 80

Defense could be the downfall with this team. They gave up 95 the first game to #15 West Virginia.. We will see how the season goes but I am getting frustrated and may look to another opportunity even though I'm starting to get some 4* recruits they are just not talented enough here at this little school.

Lost in the Elite 8 to Texas by 4 in a surprisingly close game.

Oh well, quite a season for Kent State -- 30-6, Conference Champs, Elite 8 finish.

UNC smoked Texas in the Final Four and then took the title game over Indiana.

I didn't get any power conference offers, although I was in the top five of St. John's and Auburn. I probably would have passed on those offers anyway, as I really want to play with my recruits and my stud transfer from Texas.

In my 2nd season with Detroit, started the season 8-8 and a very disappointing 1-4 in conference play. But somehow we went on the road and beat conference contender Youngstown State, and since haven't lost. Now we sit at 15-8 and 8-4 in the conference, alone in first place. UW-Milwaukee has 8 conf wins but 6 losses, and Youngstown has a 7-4 record, but we just swept the season series with them.

I figured this team would be an improvement over last years 11 win team (and we got hot late in the season and rattled off 4 or 5 W's to get there), but I never would have expected to be leading the conference in early February. The goal for this season was to finish above .500, and it appears we are going to pull that off with several win-able games left.

IPFW finishes with another strong regular season at 22-5 and 17-1 in the Summit. Heading into the conference tourney against Oakland which we just defeated at the end of the season. The only concern now is that we have some injuries and hoping to get to full strength by the Tournament.

Well I won the conference tourney again and got in the big dance. I went as a #13 seed and won the 1st 2 games and hung around against #1Florida but they beat me by 10. I decided to take another job at Southern Illinois who look to have a decent team but I need a big man since their tallest guy is 6'9. Looking forward to the new beginning!! Stay tuned!!

Jinxed myself....lost my next 2 games to the worst 2 teams in the conference, and it was bad. Couldn't buy a basket for anything.....worst 2 games we've played all year

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

In year 6 with Gonzaga after a very successful 4 year stint at Campbell. I play every game BTW.

Made the tournament all four years at Campbell; 1 First Round exit, 1 Cinderella run to the Elite Eight, and two Sweet Sixteen appearances. Dominated my conference (the weak A-Sun). The only real competition was Belmont, who definitely gave me some good games over the years.

Left Campbell after my fourth year (agonized over this decision for awhile considering I did not want to leave the one-time Freshman who were going to be Seniors that had carried me to a bunch of tournament victories) and headed to Gonzaga after Mark Few left to take a more prestigious job.

Went 25-7 in my first year and was eliminated in the Second round. Inherited a beast of a player by the name of O.J. Al-Sayyaad who is 7'0'' 260+. Was a former two star recruit, but I beasted with him and he carried my team for most of the season, averaging 20+ points and 10+ rebounds a game. Rightfully earned the nickname Super Sayyaad (pronounced say-YAHD), especially after a 32-point 21-rebound game against defending National Champion Arizona in non-conference play.

Sayyaad is a Senior this year and is still "Super", but I scheduled a tough non-conference slate for my team and they've taken their licks. Sitting at 12-7 right now, 4-1 in the WCC. My last two results are why I love this game so much. I got blown out 100-77 in my game against St. Marys, couldn't stop a nose bleed, got absolutely demolished. Very next game, absolutely shut down Santa Clara 82-51 as my defense stifled everything they tried to throw at me.

                      This game owns my soul.

Finished up year 4 at WIU with a first round exit in the tourney as a 15 seed to Arizona St.

I decided to stick around for what will be my 5th and likely final year at WIU. I am returning all of my starters, 3 of which are seniors. My whole team is between 66-69 overall except for my SG senior who is a 78 overall. First game of the year at LA Tech, he goes 3-18 from the field, some of which were really easy baskets. We lose 75-73. I have high hopes for this team, but if my star player can't perform, its going to be a long season.

Well my star player performed to the tune of 29 points...and we still lost to a sub-par Portland State team. My bigs were in foul trouble all game and we got abused in the paint. 0-2.

Still, how can one not love this game? I lost a game and I don't feel like the CPU cheated me. It just makes me more motivated to try to win.

It's amazing how fast time flies-fired this game up for the first time in two years and continued my Michigan Legacy. Still in Year 1, and using rosters I got from here a couple of years ago for the 2009-2010 season. Custom playbooks for the CPU make one hell of a difference-had to comeback against Harvard for a 47-41 victory. I'd play another game if I wasn't so damn tired already!

Also, not really related to the videogame at this point but noticed I was guarding a kid on the Crimson named 'Lin' during the game, and it just hit me that's the same guy lighting it up of late for the Knicks now. Glad these rosters are pretty accurate.

Started off the season by winning the NIT Season Tip-Off, including a win over top 10 Arizona that helped propel me to the #1 ranking for the first time in my career. Then proceeded to lose my first game at the #1 rank at Michigan.

Came back with a few more wins out of conference but lost in the Hawaiian Island Challenge to unranked Tulsa. Tulsa ended up winning their conference, so in retrospect it wasn't that bad of a loss.

Started off 5-0 in the ACC w/ wins at VTech, vs UVA MIA (ranked), at FSU, vs GTech (ranked). Then hit a 4 game losing skid w/ losses at Maryland and Clemson who were both top 5, then lost at home to VTech and on the road to unranked Duke. Came back w/ a home win against #1 NC St and a couple more against unranked FSU and UNC. Lost at GT but won against MD MIA and BC to finish 11-5 in the ACC and 2nd behind NC St.

Got Duke in the first game of the ACC tourney and they made it hard on us again. They had a late comeback and took it to OT where we won 79-72. At this point we're in contention for a #1 seed in the NCAAs. We then beat top 10 GTech to get to the finals and knocked off a tough UNC team 76-71 to win the ACC tourney for the first time in my career (and first time for Wake since 1996). My 7'C Robby Conroy was a beast in this game - 20 pts, 10 rebs, 9-9 FG

We earned the #1 overall seed in the NCAAs and faced PIG winner Sam Houston St. We didn't shoot well but were able to overcome b/c of my big 7' C Robby Conroy and won 69-56. But my PG Altron White rolled his ankle and was hurt (able to play) which affected us the next game.

Round 2 vs 8 Northwestern was tough. They slowed us down and we still couldn't make shot. It was tight all throughout but we won 63-55 to advance to the Sweet 16.

Sweet 16 vs 5 Villanova we stepped it up. Still couldn't make shots but played well defensively and won 65-51.

Elite 8 vs 7 Iowa (who was underseeded since they won Big Ten reg season and conf titles) was the toughest game yet. They had us down 9 late in the 2nd half but we hung tough and again my big man Conroy pulled us through and we won 73-70. Blocked the last second hail mary full court shot.

Final Four vs Maryland - we were tied at 27 at the half but were dominating them on the glass. 2nd half we made a few more of our shots and remained solid defensively to win 62-53 and advance to the first national championship game in Wake Forest history.

Nat'l Championship vs NC State - right off the bat my Sr SG Jean Urbina hit 3 3s in the first half and we took a 42-29 lead into halftime. We kept our lead and kept our composure in then 2nd half. Even when my starting PG White got hurt again, his backup Ferdinand Wisniewski stepped in and dropped 19 pts on 6-7 FG 2-3 3pt. And the final is...WAKE 75, NC ST 60

Wake Forest is your 2020 NCAA Champions! Finished up with a 33-7 record overall. 2nd National Championship of my career, and first in Wake Forest history.

My overall record now in 13 seasons of coaching (UC Riverside, North Texas, Wake Forest) is 346-107 (.764 win pct) with 2 national championships, 5 Final Four appearances, 8 Sweet 16s. And I won my first ever National Coach of the Year award. Needless to say, one of the best seasons of my career.
Well it's been a rough road for the defending champs Wake Forest to start the 2020-2021 season. Despite returning 4 starters from last year, things just have not clicked at all. Started off the season ranked #2 in the polls. Opened the season with a win against Gardner Webb in the OReilly Autoparts Classic. Then squeaked out a win against Tulane 62-60 to advance to the semis of that tournament.

In the semis faced Oregon State. Their SG Dawan Pippen (who I'd recruited and missed out on) lit us up w/ 31 pts on 6-7 from 3pt range. Eventually the game went to double OT where we won 115-106, but we were gassed for the final the next day and lost to Wisconsin 56-53.

After a win in our home opener against #13 Northwestern 74-57 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. This is where things got worse. Lost at home to an unranked Kentucky team 71-61, then lost on the road to a 5-3 VCU team 63-59. In both games we were killed by offensive rebs and 2nd chance points. After a sloppy win over lowly UNC Wilmington, suffered another loss on the road to unranked Cal (7-3). Fell to 5-4 and out of the top 25 completely for the first time in over 2 years.

After this game I changed my starting lineup. I had been going with a 2 PG backcourt but obviously things just weren't meshing. That and I benched my SF Montrimas who's shot has been off all year. The next game was against #16 and unbeaten West VA, and we used strong play in the paint to cruise in the 2nd half (outscored them 55-31) and win 95-73.

I still wasn't happy with the interior defense, teams are just scoring at will on the inside against us, which is frustrating as hell. That and bad defensive rebounding, along with horrible shooting are why we're 6-4 right now. The bright side is that this lineup seems to fit better, at least after 1 game, and the ACC schedule is still 2 weeks away. We have 3 more OOC games before we open the ACC season at home vs #1 Georgia Tech.
