Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

UGH!!! Had a 32-3 team heading into the Sweet Sixteen. I was the number 1 overall team in the country, had been in the top 3 all season long.. I beat 15 ranked teams through the season, 8 on the road. (The Big Ten was stacked)..... anyways
Against Pitt in the sweet 16, I struggled all game. I couldn't contain their shooters and they lit me up from deep. I pulled it within 3 with just over a minute left, but they came back down the other way and got a 4 point play!!!!!
That was THE BEST team I had ever coached, and I lost 3 seniors off the team. My Center ended up being defensive player of the year, and I had 2 first team AA and 1 2nd team AA...
Now fastforward to next year. Number 2 recruiting class coming in.
FIrst game against George Mason, my team starts out like crap!!!! I'm number 3 in the country and i'm down 2 at the half. I bench everyone and let my 3 freshman run the show. I think I may have found myself a new point guard. AA freshy.
I ended up winning by 30, after being down 2 at half...
Through 2 easy games my fresh point guard is averaging 12 points and 6 assists... hell of a start.. He's gonna be starting for me now I think... My AA SG is averaging 20.. My center is averaging 14.. and two others averaging 10.. Once I figure out how to play iwth them there is no question this team has potential, but they are rough to play with right now. I'll keep it updated

You guys are going to laugh at me but I am about to start a career legacy on the original ESPN college hoops game for ps2. This game is a classic and seeing as I no longer have an xbox this is my only option. So consider me a coach going back to old times, back in the early 2000's. I plan on playing most of the games every season so I'll keep this updated on here. Not sure yet which team I am going to be I can't remember the options so I will have to go through and check it out.

I finally made the big dance in my third year at Toledo. I entered the tournament with a 22-10 record as an 11 seed taking on Washington. I got down 12-2 before most fans had taken their seats. At halftime I was down 40-31. The lead swelled to 50-34 several minutes into the second half. Then the shots 3's started to fall and with 3 minutes remaining I had my first lead 65-64. I would hang on to win 77-76 and will take on 3 seed Syracuse in the second round which coincidentally is the team I opened the season against in a 65-56 loss.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

A season that looked to be great has turned ugly. I played a good OOC schedule to start the season off and my team played like crazy. I was 13-2, had the #5 offense in FG%, was #1 in 3PT's made and in 3PT %, my defense was keeping teams to under 40% shooting, my freshman PG was just an assist away from averaging a double double on the year, all was good at Gonzaga. I was winning games handily at home and still pretty much winning convincingly on the road.

I get to conference play, and think it shouldn't be tough. No team in my conference is better than me, or better than any of the good teams I played OOC. Well, I was in for a treat. I'm now 15-7 which means I am 2-5 in conference play. I lost on a buzzer beater 3 to the worst team in my conference, got dominated by 20+ at home twice already, and just cannot do anything. My team that was dominating in OOC play is gone.

My offense is shooting almost in the 30% range in conference play and my 3 ball is no longer falling as much. I'm still hitting it decently, but not near as well as I was OOC, I'm on pace to probably have just an average team from 3 if my offense continues to struggle after being the #1 team in 3PT % up to this point still. The thing that has really killed me though is outside of one game, every conference opponent has shot over 50% on my team. My defense that was dominating in the OOC play and was easily one of the best in the nation has disappeared and turned into one of the worst in the entire nation.

I don't understand why my offense has lost it's stride and my defense has literally left me in conference play. If my team had played like they did OOC I could easily be 6-1, if not 7-0 still, but my team has fallen apart. I went from probably getting ranked and getting a great seed to now having to win my conference tournament if I want any chance to make the big dance.

I think this game replicates conference play better than any other game. It's like another season within the season. Especially road conf games. My teams seem to come back to earth during conference play. That's when I find out if my team can really play.

So after 5 years at IPFW and 5 at Southern Illinois the hard work pays off. The 2017-2018 Nat'l Champs SIU. I headed into the tournament at 26-4 and a #9 seed but blew through the opposition.

              #9 SIU (85) vs #8 Idaho (51)
              #9 SIU (94) vs #1 Louisville (81)
              #9 SIU (91) vs #5 Arizona (73) Sweet 16
              #9 SIU (81) vs #3 Maryland (66) Elite 8
              #9 SIU (74) vs #3 kentucky (58)Final Four
              #9 SIU (89) vs #2 Florida (68) National Championship

I had a couple offers to go to Wisconsin, Minnesota and Wake Forest but I have decided to stick around a little longer and see if I can repeat!!!

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

In my first season at Winston-Salem State. I just got around to playing my legacy again about a week ago (a lot of my time has been spent with NCAA Football 12 lately, started a Dynasty with Wake and it's been taking up a lot of my gaming time along with FIFA 12). Played in the Cyclone Challenge, first against Iowa St. I played on Walk-On (Being a Panther/Hawkeye fan, I didn't want to risk being beaten by the Cyclones. Not sure if I could live with myself if I had been.) and won by 10. This gave me confidence (being rather new to the game) so I put it up to starter for the final against Lipscomb and got killed by 21. So we'll see how things go. Walk-On felt way too easy (I had my SG score 40+ in the ISU game, mostly on threes), but Starter was awfully frustrating. Looks like I have a little way to go before I can get to a point where I'm competitive at WSSU.

Started off the season ranked #2 in the polls. Opened the season with a win against Gardner Webb in the OReilly Autoparts Classic. Then squeaked out a win against Tulane 62-60 to advance to the semis of that tournament.

In the semis faced Oregon State. Their SG Dawan Pippen (who I'd recruited and missed out on) lit us up w/ 31 pts on 6-7 from 3pt range. Eventually the game went to double OT where we won 115-106, but we were gassed for the final the next day and lost to Wisconsin 56-53.

After a win in our home opener against #13 Northwestern 74-57 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. This is where things got worse. Lost at home to an unranked Kentucky team 71-61, then lost on the road to a 5-3 VCU team 63-59. In both games we were killed by offensive rebs and 2nd chance points. After a sloppy win over lowly UNC Wilmington, suffered another loss on the road to unranked Cal (7-3). Fell to 5-4 and out of the top 25 completely for the first time in over 2 years.

After this game I changed my starting lineup. I had been going with a 2 PG backcourt but obviously things just weren't meshing. That and I benched my SF Montrimas who's shot has been off all year. The next game was against #16 and unbeaten West VA, and we used strong play in the paint to cruise in the 2nd half (outscored them 55-31) and win 95-73.

I still wasn't happy with the interior defense, teams are just scoring at will on the inside against us, which is frustrating as hell. That and bad defensive rebounding, along with horrible shooting are why we're 6-4 right now. The bright side is that this lineup seems to fit better, at least after 1 game, and the ACC schedule is still 2 weeks away. We have 3 more OOC games before we open the ACC season at home vs #1 Georgia Tech.
We (Wake Forest) won our last 3 OOC games to finish the non conference schedule at 9-4. We then lost our conference opener at home to #1 Georgia Tech, they're only rated 96 OVR, no biggie. They were killing us but our team showed good heart and hung around and lost 82-70. One of those 'moral victories'.

From there we won our next 4 conference games (vs VT, vs UNC, at MD, vs UVA) the MD and UVA games were close ones but we pulled them out 64-61 and 86-76 (OT) respectively. Our next game was a loss at Duke. We led by double digits twice, once in the 1st half and Duke cut it to 37-33 at half, then we extended it again before they ran past us to win 76-69 at Cameron.

Won our next 2 games against FSU and on the road against unranked Clemson, needed a last second double clutch layup by my SR PG Altron White and their last second 3 fell off and we won 59-58 to improve to 6-3 in the ACC.

Then we had to go down to play #1 GT again, and they slammed us 84-60 at their place. Came back and won the next game at home against top 10 NC St but then lost on the road to UNC.

Won our next 4 games (at VT, vs Duke, at BC, at NC St) to get to 11-4 and our last game was at home against #2 Miami. We shot like pure crap (6-26 3pt) and could never get any momentum despite being at home on Senior Night and lost 69-61. Miami finished tied w/ Georgia Tech for best record in the ACC at 12-4, Wake Forest finishes alone in 3rd at 11-5 and 20-9 overall.

Now we look to the ACC tourney and bracketology has us as a #2 seed right now. If we make a run to the ACC tourney title we could steal a #1 seed, but that's not our main goal obviously. We play UVA in the QF with a possible game with V Tech (who beat Miami) in the Semis.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I decided to take over the helm at Morehead State from the Ohio Valley Conference. I knew it would be tough to compete against the likes of Murray State and Austin Peay. My starting 5 is fairly young with 2 (FR), 1 (JR) & 2 (SR). My starting SF named Ty Proffitt can be compared to a Steve Novak of the New York Knicks. If open he can pop the 3's all day long.

I just wrapped up the regular season and completed the OVC tournament. I finished up the regular season with a 27-2 record only losing to Baylor and Eastern Kentucky team who shot the lights out on me. My signature win came at Louisville as I beat the Cardinals by 8.

It took me about half to season before I started to get mentioned in the polls. Currently im at #15 in the Media Poll, while the Coaches poll shows no love for the Eagles. Before the OVC tournament I was a projected #3 seed in the South. After defeating #21 Austin Peay for the 3rd time I locked up the #2 seed in the Midwest Regional, where I will lock horns with #15 Montana in an opening round game in Denver at the Pepsi Center. If I can make it out alive, I take on either #7 UCONN or #10 Oregon. Both teams should offer a challenge for my Eagles team.

I found it very fun and yet frustrating coaching at Morehead State, I was pleased to have my attendence go from the low 20% to now having a full house for home games. This is most likely a one and done year at Morehead as I look to move onto a bigger school. I will keep you posted on the outcome of the NCAA Tournament.

Well my tournament run with the Eagles has ended. I took down the #15 seed Montana by 8 points, but ran into a buzzsaw in #7 UCONN lost by double digits as they were on fire the whole game. It was a block fest down low, and their team speed was too much for me to compete against. It will be a new look team in season 2. Will post when season is close to being done.

Two and done, you'll have to stay one more year--jobs are not available for you to take after only a single season. So you'll have a chance to build on your first year success.

From the sounds of it, he may not be looking forward to building on that success.

So I just got home for Spring Break, and I'm considering giving this game a go again. Do you guys recommend doing CPU-CPU games or actually playing them? I don't really know which option I'd prefer. Never done CPU-CPU before, but after playing so much 2k11 and 2k12, I don't know if I'd be able to enjoy the 2k8 gameplay quite as much.

Well we lost to UVA in the 1st game of the conference tourney 82-74. Playing on MOP you have those games where the CPU makes everything, and this was one of those. They shot 60+% in the first half, 57% for the game, even after we were down 19 we came back and cut it to 2 in the 2nd half but could never get out in front.

We finished 20-10 overall but still got a #2 seed in the NCAAs and will face Jacksonville St with the winner of 7 Stanford/10 Miss St. awaiting us. Now the work for defending our national title begins I guess. Not really confident about the way my team is playing TBH, don't see us making the Final Four this year.

My team's finally starting to play like a top 5 team and preseason number 2. I absolutely blew the doors of UNC.. holding them to 37 points.
Excited about how much my team can grow
