Ehh, that looks good. I am will start my 2k8 dynasty (St.John's, baby) in about a week or two. It keeps the game very fresh for me to only play it during the college season. I am lookinng forward to the ABL games and recruiting.

'Cuse, baby! How do you get those classic teams, anyway? I can't unlock any of 'em.

I need to start up an SU Legacy. They are my favorite team but I actually have only used them in exhibitions in this game for some reason.

I'm pretty sure you don't need to unlock Syracuse '03. Just go to a Quick Game and the classic teams are listed as a conference all the way at the beginning of the alphabet, so hit L1 until you see "Classic Teams" as the conference and there you go. I think there are about 30 classic teams you have to unlock and 30 you have for free.

I then used Windows Movie Maker to capture the video, real easy. A small box pops up on your PC that shows what's going on with your PS3, basically a small viewing of what you'd see on your TV.

The two vids I posted are just saved replays though, the box in WMM on your PC is too small to actually play a game. I need to get more cables and splitters to hook everything up so I can play/watch on my TV and record on my PC simultaneously.

That's what I bought, $52 at Best Buy including tax. Awesome deal, IMO. They have a package (Video Creator Plus) with the same hardware but it also includes their software (which I read online is horrible and WMM is better) and a few other meanginless toys and it's $90. I def recommend what I got though, $40 cheaper and essentially does a better job of capturing video via WMM.

MY cpu isnt fast enough for a good capture card, so im stuck with a PCI express VE from ATI. It can now be found for pennies i bet, as I paid $40 6 years ago. It's basically VHS/TV quality, which in todays time is hard to look at. I use my xbox 360 composite cable (the one that came with the basic xbox 360 years ago) , with the yellow/red/white.. Most of the time I just play off my monitor in HD and later switch out the video cable for the composite cable, when I need to record. It's too hard to record and watch unless you can compress and record 10-15 GBs at a time.

most standard PCI capture cards in the $100 and even then only get HD through the over the air antenna channels. It still uses a basic yellow or S-video for other inputs. so youre almost better sticking with the extremely old cards as they put less strain on your CPU.

you can record "from webcam" with youtube and tie into your capture card and get a straight feed. quality is questionable on that method.

            some other other capture programs:

debut: its free and the viewer alone was the only program that let me view it without lag. so it processes much quicker it seems

virtualdub: works great too. I let that record uncompressed. the video size is just astronomically big, but for small clips it works just fine.. WMM does a mighty fine job with the uncompressed clips.

lastly, Windows Media Encoder: some capture cards dont work with that program but for hte ones that do, it works just as good as anything out there.

youre stuck in the times of old xbox1 with the video quality when you play and record for the most part, so i tend to only due saved replays via that route

Re: This game owns my soul.

I picked up my UConn dynasty again last night after tons of time with Live 10, bad idea.

Year 3 in my dynasty and I'm in a rebuilding year, I had to travel down to #6 Louisville. I'm 3-4 in Big East play, real young team.

UL absolutely put it on me, hit 6 of 7 three's in the first five minutes, pressed and blocked five shots in the paint in the first part of the first half. Needless to say I was down 42-14 at one point. UL was getting into the lane at will and got tons of easy buckets, my team was so rattled. Also didn't help that I had at last 5 turnovers because my brain was mixing up Live's controls with 2K's.

I ended up losing by 19 but it obviously wasn't nearly that close, the game was over five minutes after tip off.

Love that about this game. If you have a young team, it feels like a young inexperienced team thanks to team unity. A great feature in this game. And when these teams go on the road in a hostile environment, you have to play like a god to win. I once had 5 amazing freshman on my team. I called them the 'fab five' and we were ranked No. 4 in the preseason polls but we ended up being a 7 seed since we just couldn't play to our potential.

Also, I'm a big UConn fan, and I was wondering who's on your team now? Is Kemba gone? Playing with any body that is on the team right now?
I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.

Now I've seen some vids, it remind how good rebounding and body contacts were in this game.

I tried to play it about 2 month ago, don't know why but it seemed sluggish to me. Maybe a problem with my disc, or my ps3.

Re: This game owns my soul.

I'm getting worse at this rather than better. This is easily the most frustrating video game experience I've ever had. It's pretty clear this has to do with me and not the game itself. I almost snapped a controller in two each of the last three nights, I have huge bruisy lumps on the sides of my head from punching myself in frustration multiple times, and I keep thinking that the best thing I can do now is snap the game disc in half so that I can't succumb to the temptation to try playing again. I think it's time to admit I totally suck at this and am hopeless, and move on to some other game that's more enjoyable for me.

Seems like a great game, though. It's kind of impressive that the game is so good that I can say that, despite being absolutely enraged by it.

Re: This game owns my soul.

                        ehh:

Most of my problems are just like other ones that people note, just magnified. My guys blow tons of layups and gimme shots (easily over 50% missed), my interior guys get swatted at a frustrating rate, I have a very hard time getting decent enough ball movement to either free up guys for open looks or create penetration lanes (which leads to either bad percentage shots or turnovers due to forced passes and strips), inconsistent performance in beating the after-basket press, and generally sloppy and too loose defense.

The lowlight of all this came last night in a holiday tournament consolation game against NJIT - I'm starting my legacy with LIU. They took a 20-0 lead (or something like that) right off the bat. Basically, after it got to around 12-0 I started doing all kinds of crazy stuff out of frustration, so maybe the rest of the drubbing I took was simply due to half-assed play on my part. My team was rimming out layups, missing both ends of free throws (I'm usually pretty good at them, at least), airballing treys and clanging mid-range jumpers, and I could not get any of my interior guys to consistently attack the basket when they had the ball (for whatever reason, several times they'd go into a jump shot or crazy over-the-head shot with their back to the basket, instead of going right at the hoop for a lay-in). I also kept giving up steals by trying to force penetration; that's clearly on me, but I was trying to see if anything at all would work to get some points on the board. Of course, NJIT was getting freebie layups (no misses, naturally) on the break off my bad shots and turnovers, killing me inside with all kinds of open cutters, and draining treys at will. I just couldn't take the frustration any more after it got to about 26-4 and had to shut if off, which is something I hate doing. I probably should have just simmed to the end and then shut down, but I was probably about 5 seconds away from a stroke and had to get away from the game ASAP. It was brutal, probably the worst beatdown I've ever taken in a video game, at least from the CPU. The worst part is that NJIT was 0-14 coming into the game and I was 5-7 (4-6 in games I played). NJIT was the nominal home team for the game, but it was being played at UCF. Anyways, if I'm going to get the stuffing beat out of me by a patsy like that (with all the other frustrations I've consistently had in my other games), I can't see the game being very enjoyable for me to play.

I've spent the last 3 months playing the new Madden, which is a tremendous game in its own right. But here I am getting the itch to play this 2 or 3 year old game again. It is very rare that I walk away from a game twice and still continue to keep coming back to it for long stretches. I'm gonna try to get another month of madden in before I put it on the shelf but not sure if I'm going to make it.

glad to see this thread is up again. I am starting to wind down my madden playing and have fired up some NBA 2k8, CH 2k8 will be next.

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

And just like that, this game brings me back in.

Upset with 2k10 post patch, the ncaa 10 demo, and live seemingly doing nothing for me, I went back for a game this evening.

WHAT A THRILLER. I faced Syracuse with Texas. I was up early but I couldnt stop Devendorf cutting to the basket and scoring. My man to man defense was eaten up. This game just exudes fun and realistic basketball. It's becoming my go to BACKUP. when it really should be just the front runner game that I always play. Drive and kick game was money for me with the 2-3 zone. but soon Syracuse stopped that.

Some Stats (using AAs AA sliders): provided in the photo.

Just what a fun fun game here. I am AMAZED once again.

Maybe the highlight series of the game right here. Nice in the paint rebounding animations.
-shot. miss. off. board. shot.. miss. off board. tipped to original shot maker. finally a foul.

My only problem going back to 2K8 at this point is that the defensive rotations are really bad in comparison to Live 10. The rotations are way, way too fast. Game is still fun though.
