Ha, your SN caught my eye in the NBA2K forum. I know some of you old CH'ers are on NBA2K now, Sapida, etc.

NBA2K11 looks like it's going to be amazing, but for now THIS game is still the best, most complete 2K basketball game ever made. It's certainly stood the test of time too.

Yeah, after playing NBA 2K10 for the past few months, CH2K8 really is a breath of fresh air. Just so much more responsive and the AI is GREAT in this game.

I started a closed legacy with St. Francis (NY-based) Terriers. Lost my first game in OT after blowing a 19-point halftime lead! I have no outside shooting and couldn't buy a basket in the 2nd half, while the CPU caught fire.

Game was a blast to play even though I lost. I am looking forward to 2K11 with Jordan, but this game is definitely getting a lot of burn the next couple of months. I think it will always stand the test of time.

AA, I think you've earned like 6 games worth of royalties from myself because i'm still using your initial slider set. And really, it's been my go to bball game for the past few years. As those other games got resold, I played nothing more than Ch2k8. A true $$$ saver

          Tonights matchup:
          07-08 Exhibition
          Alambama (user) @ Stanford (cpu)
Early on the CPU was going inside constantly to the Lopez twins. They were getting the job done for the most part. As soon as they were subbed out, the CPU switched their focus and went more with perimeter shots and passes. The adaptive AI is something else.

Long story short, It's a close one as usual. Both teams are rated about the same with Stanford taking the edge. Tie game with 10 seconds left. I get fouled and missed both FTs (real ft % on). Game goes into OT. I hold a 1 pt. lead with 30 seconds left. CPU winds the clock all the way down and misses the last second shot.. I win.

Most entertaining game since.. basically my last great CH2k8 game.

Just flat out fun. responsive controls, and CPU AI on both sides that dont make me cringe.. Do I need a nba2k11??

So many responsive blocks and a true nack for protecting the paint. I love the contextual fouls that happen that force FTs instead of a MONSTER dunk.

          Final Score 80-79. PIP 22 to 32. 17 FTA to 19.

I cant get enough. I recorded and saved some plays that propped my interest but I bet you all have seen everything by now.

This whole month of September coming up should be CH2k8 Appreciation month.

Ruben, did you or anyone else happen to repost your 07-08 roster file on 2K Share? I saw one OS 07-08 set, but it didn't look like yours.

I love real ft% on. Is it cheating if you intenionally want to miss a free throw? It was a gamble down by 2 by hitting the first FT. Turned it off got the rebound tied it up and ended up wining to go to the championship game.

This is definitely one of the bright spots of this game. As long as you don't cheese with the "L-stick ball-side and B" dribble move then getting to the rim and into the paint is not easy. You have to work to get in there and player's offensive/dribble ratings play a huge role in this. I know to not even try to get to the hoop with my spot up shooters unless it's a wide open lane. It'll be a turnover one way or another more often than not.

I'm expecting those replays to but uploaded shortly Rub, watching 2K8 mixes never gets old. I'm down with September as a tribute month, I'll save a ton of replays and get some more vids up too.

Re: This game owns my soul.

Djwlfpack, I'll post up the 0708 BASE roster with all the added court edits in a couple minutes... As you may know it has (EVERY SINGLE classic team named), all coaches, and much more. It just doesnt have those select few schools court edits who have too long of a name. So basically, the commentators will announce them properly. I even think I left Michigan and MSU alone as there are a few student section issues.

ehh, you told me about configuration C control setup months back. That has been a game changer for me.

Last night, in what I like to call random vs. random, I pair up two random teams that are close in rating and just go at it. Last night's matchup was RIDER (me) vs. Sam Houston State (CPU). Upon entering the game, I realized my team has Jason Thompson, nba draft pick for the Kings. His rating in this game triumphed over every one else. I thought, hey, what a perfect time to attempt some pick and roll "cheese". The CPU was playing some zone, and the doubles never really came. After the first half, I had 23 pts. with Thompson. 9 baskets were scored via pick and roll. Out of a 15 minute half, Thompson got tired rather quickly mainly because I was using him so much. He sat a good 4 minutes. During that span, I had NOTHING. Cpu kept it close.

Second half, I try to do the same but this time there are more deflections and straight up steals by the CPU as I attempt to go inside on every possession. Game is very close as time winds down. It's a 4 pt. game with a minute left. CPU tightens up.. I lose by 7 as I foul to force FTs. Thompson ended with about 40 pts. and 15 boards but a LOSS for his team.

Had Thompson had a little more stamina to stay in the game longer, I think I would've rolled these guys.. Then again, the second half effectiveness of a simple pick and roll just wasn't there... I was actually afraid to try it on a few occassions in fear of a TO.. First half, it seemed all but money in the bank.

SOme of ya'll should try that out. Take Rider and J Thompson and try to dominate.. At one moment, I thought this game has been exploited with cheese, but then it all changed a few moments later.

                  Ridiculous

That pick n roll issue carries over the NBA2k10 as well. Whenever I NEED to score, I run a pick n roll, preferably with Jason Maxiell (I'm always the Pistons).

On CH2k8 I need to tweak the sliders just to make the picks effective, without knocking defenders down all the time. I'd say work with that a bit to find a setting you like best.

Actually what I meant to imply was that I thought there was a "cheese" sort of issue with pick n roll. But it soon became ineffective through the course of the game. The game self corrected any issues I had

A few games worth of replays I happened to save/footage I recorded. forgive me for the some of the ghost quality. my recording device is aging terribly.

                      Rundown:
1/ User Runner in the lane (no canned animation that took me into a layup). Just quick responsive controls
2/Catching the CPU off guard with the quick inbounds pass and three.. who says theres little to no court balance
3/'86 Duke Johnny Dawkins with the pump fake and ability to get off the quick shot right after
4/CPU zone being abused just alittle. Finding an open man. CPU recovery isn't THAT bad here
                      5/Another User drive and dish
6/CPU Jason Williams half spin and drive. Contact, no foul
7/User Layup with contact.. no foul all around. Shot right off the glass.
8/CPu Jason Williams layup drive, blocked by a user cpu teammate
9/Freezing the CPU zone with a pass to the perimeter. Cpu teammate on right is so happy
10/USER layup drive with contact. FOUL called CPU white guy helped out as he went right to the paint as the guy with the ball drove. What other game has that intelligence right now?
11/Nice CPU passing and drive, but a teammate of mine sets his feet for the charge. Watch the ref
12/A little drive and dish with two players.
13/USER drives, CPU helps out and a foul is called
14/CPU still in a zone. My player sets a screen then stands at the three pt. line for the open shot. Miss but he was open
15/User spin move but the paint is just too hotly contested. Miss
16/CPU with his own spin move. Contact is made as I go for the charge. No whistle
17/Nice CPU passing as Battier catchs a 22 footer and buries it.
18/CPU Jason Williams puts on a dribbling showcase
19/USER steal at midcourt. I think it was my center who caught it and dribbled all the way down. CPU catchup AI, never present here
20/User feeds the paint then passes out to the open three point shooter
21/Kind of fuzzy here. but CPU Jason Williams puts on another passing exhibition as Duke passes around to the open man.
22/USER does a nice behind the back to catch the defender off guard
23/Active USER teammates with the block
                      24/Another BLOCK by User
25/CPU gets caught with a BEFORE THE SHOT Blocking FOUL. My USER player still tries a dunk he misses
26/User forces a CPU turnover as the CPU player tries to save it.. Responsive controls gives me the ability for all this to happen to openly.
27/Maybe my favorite play. USER CPU teammate with the helpside BLOCK! #34 creates the contact and #1 steps in to help
28/One instance that I saved of the CPU working the ball around. Lopez twins were beasts inside on the rebounds. One brother quickly passes to the other without hesitation. AND1 layup!
29/CPU with a backdoor attempt. I end up fouling them as TWO blockers are there.. Show me that in NBA2k9 or 2k10. That wouldve been a superstar dunk. I Love FOULS!
30/One of the Lopez twins quickly catches a pass and turns to the basket. USER creates enough contact to force a foul
31/A rarity. Your typical toilet bowl shot
32/Two obscure teams going at it. Here its CPU RYAN BRIGHT catching an alley oop in the somewhat open court (before the D set itself up)... Youtube him, He can dunk like that in real life
33/ Quick clip of a User Jason Thompson Block
                      34/ User steal from behind

Apologies for the wall of text. well worth the read and watch as Ill continue to do this sort of thing

I never came close to winning NPOY in my UConn dynasty despite winning multiple national titles.

I think I only won one conference player of the year and that was with Thabeet, who is unfairly good in the game because 2K put such a huge value on height in the game. He's like Shaq and Hakeem rolled into one - and 7'3.

I have put off buying this game for too long, so I called my wife and she picked it up at gamestop. 5 bucks, so that is pretty cool.

I have alot of reading to do before I play it tonight to find out all the details about sliders and such.

I hope I find it as good as everyone here does. I am on PS3.
