The great thing about recruiting is that it doesn't really take long to master. It may seem overwhelming at first but once you figure out what you're doing it's simple and rewarding! Something that always helps me is finding the municipal recruits, then local, then regional... If nobody fits your criteria then search the national recruits at the bottom of the interest level ladder. Scrolling through the dudes that have NO interest in any team can actually really help your team as you can jump in and be the only team they look at after a few in home visits. Just make sure you don't target someone that already has offers from other programs.

Maybe my recruiting style is just terrible but I dont really think restrictions or house rules were needed. What am I doing wrong?Comment

Thanks for the reply,
Do you attend and play all the prep games before your season starts to recruit? Or do you sim those and just start recruiting from the menus after this part of the game is simmed?
I just need to really give the game a good solid 3 hours walkthrough with the recruiting and coaching menus. I was eager to jump in and play. I may just start over with Irvine (only 2 games in) and really get familiar with all the menus. But that intial tourny looks long and I wonder if it really is worth the time or just let the CPU sim that.
Thanks for the advice!Comment

if you're trying to learn the game you might think about taking the ABL as an opportunity to get some games under your belt without hurting your legacy W-L record. for me, i usually don't play the ABL games, i always tell myself i'm going to play them all, but after playing 2-3 games i just say **** it and sim it... it won't kill you not to play them, but playing each one to it's entirety will give you somethin like 25 extra recruiting points for the season and you get a good feel for the players you will be after (stats don't tell the whole story!)Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I've never actually played any ABL games. I sim it every time... I didn't know you gained extra recruiting points lol. Maybe I'll take one of the ideas I've seen on here to just set the half minutes to 2 or 3 and play it out for once.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I will do that.
Do some of you guys right down the names of these players? Or just segregate them by interest first and foremost.Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
see i don't like playing shorter halves cause that messes up the stats for the guys, like if i'm late in the season and i need to find find a specialist i'll sort possible recruits by ABL stats and try and find that tall SG who i can use as a SF so i can drain 3's better
its a minor thing, but it affects me sometimes.
todem- you can put guys on your target list during the ABL portion of the scheduleComment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I definitely never did either in all my years with UConn. I'd constantly lose out on the All Americans to the UNC, UCLA, Duke and Kansas' of the world (very realistic and a great touch). Combine that with how well 2K8 had busts and diamonds in the rough down pat and my program never got unrealistically stacked."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: This game owns my soul.
That and, if you are playing your games, height. If you get a 6'4 or 6'5 3 star PG, dude is gonna end up being like 6'7 and be beasting everything. Same for other over sized players. I don't know why 2k seems to think every player grows 2 or 3 inches during their senior year.

Re: This game owns my soul.
Year two of my new St. Francis (PA) legacy (using 09-10 rosters) and i get a first round game against #4 seed West Virginia. I scout their roster and they have Devin Ebanks (lottery), Truck Bryant (second round), Kevin Jones (first round), and Gerald Humphrey (top Pick, former #3 prospect) in their starting lineup and I'm thinking i will be decimated.
I start the game and my team is ice cold...the halftime score is 57-20...i start up the second half and my star recruit Chip Bryant goes off!...my team suddenly learns defense and with .2 seconds left down 77-80 Chip hits a full court short to send the game to overtime!!! Then Ebanks took over and scored 8 unanswered points and i could only muster up 4 points while finally shutting them down again.
I fall 84-88 but had never been happier about a loss while still being so down about it. I came in thinking blowout and after the first half i was sure i was right. Then when chip took over the excitement grew with each and every bucket and with every missed shot by W. Virginia. Then to tie it in such dramatic fashion only to blow it and lose in overtime. It was the most exciting game I've had in quite a while and you can be sure I'll be scheduling West Virginia next year for some payback!GT dericksun

Re: This game owns my soul.
Add me to the list of guys who's been inspired by reading this thread. In my 8th year of my Legacy, year 5 at North Texas and we're defending the NC. I'd gotten a bit bored w/ the conf schedule, been away for a few months now, but I'll try to get back into it later today hopefully.Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I just played my rematch with West Virginia and crushed them. Ebanks, Bryant, and Humphrey all went to the draft and Jones was injured for the game and didn't play. I returned almost my whole team minus my senior shooting guard who had been my sixth man last season. Halftime score was 41-25 and i slowly pulled away more from there to the final score of 87-62.
West Virginia was trying to break in a mostly freshman starting five and they had all kinds of turnovers and bad plays. I have to be honest and say the rematch didn't go as well as i had hoped. i was hoping for another dramatic game and instead i steamrolled them. Chip Bryant scored 37 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 6 assists for me...here's the kicker about him...it came down to me and West Virginia recruiting him and second to last week of off season recruiting they dropped his scholarship and he instantly signed with me. He's still the only 3 star I've signed to my team so far.GT dericksun
