Re: This game owns my soul.
Just had 2 pretty good games in my Gtown legacy. 1st was at home vs Fairfield. They hung around because Monroe was in foul trouble & Freeman pulled his hammy but once Monroe came back in we pulled away. It was around a 6 pt game and suddenly we put the clamps on and next think you know we're up 19 and coasting to a 14pt win. Monroe finished with 14-10-5blks.
Next up was a trip to Seattle to play Washington. Apparently we weren't ready at all because in the 1st half we shot 18% and had our starting center, Vaughn in foul trouble with 3 and his backup (Sims) also with 3. With our only other big Benimon out with a strained achilles I had to go offense-defense and play a lot of 2-3 zone. We were down 14 at the half but clawed our back into the game behind Monroe. Freeman was still struggling with his hammy and was just 1-8 for the game so it was up to the other guards to carry the load. Clark had 10, Sanford off the bench with 9, and Wright with 10 but it wasn't enough to down the Huskies who used some clutch free throws at the end to win by 4. We ended up shooting 42% from the field which isn't bad considering what we shot in the 1st half but we're sitting at 3-3 right now.
It was so much fun playing the 2-3 zone, subbing, and playing cautious with my bigs. The CPU went straight out my bigs too trying to draw fouls.Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
To add to the stories...I start up an Open Legacy with UVa because I used to be a hardcore UVa basketball fan before I came here to JMU...simmed the first 2 games, easy wins...then I go to #12 Arizona...I take one look at their lineup and shudder...Chase Buddinger, Jordan Hill, Bayless...my confidence is gone, I know these players are studs in the NBA. And it shows...12-4 Arizona run to start the game. I take a TO, calm down, and begin to battle. It then turns into 18-16 Arizona, and they have to call a TO.
Halftime...30-29 Arizona...my best player, Singletary, has 4 points...but the rest of the team has been pulling their weight. Bayless is the player of the half.
the second half was back and forth, epic...I was up 62-61 with about 20 seconds ot go, and the guy goes to foul me, and they don't call it, and I lose the ball! and it puts it in! and I go on to lose x.x so frustrating.Comment

of course I play against Syracuse and its 41-25 me...go figure lol
83-63 final...and that was with my scrubs in throughout the 2nd half. shot 47% but held Syracuse to 41% and 0-16 from beyond the arc lolLast edited by ClingingMars; 02-15-2010, 09:47 PM.Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
This game continues to amaze, I play a Duke team that's having a down year (unranked with a 7-5 record) at Cameron, and battle the ENTIRE GAME, and manage to win by 5 in OT.Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I hadn’t played a basketball game in 4 years, wasting most of those years on EA’s NCAA Football Series. In early December, I was bored with NCAA so I decided to pickup a new copy of 2K8 at GameStop for $10.00. I figured if it wasn’t any good, I wasn't out anything. It sat on my shelf for a week or so, then I popped 2K8 in the week before Christmas and I haven’t stopped playing since. This series has to be the “best kept secret” in the sports genre. 2K8 is simply amazing, the legacy has so much depth and the whole game just pulled me in. This is only the second sports game I have ever played that has actually drawn me in as part of the experience, and when you consider my gaming roots date back to Nintendo that is quite an accomplishment. Wish I had found this title sooner, but better late than never.Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
This game is far and away the greatest sports title I have ever played, and I've played a lot of them from ps1 to ps2 to x360...
just left Hawaii after 12 seasons, dominating the WAC year-in and year-out by the time I left, but I got the Gonzaga job that I really really wanted... team was rated 86 overall at the start of my first season with the Zags, and I lost my first game of the year to an 84 Baylor team in a 2K coaches classic tourney game...
then, to my dismay, I lost to a 68 ovr PRARIE VIEW A&M!!! Yeah, I was still trying to get used to my team and playing a little bit more uptempo style, but this is on All-Conf and I was seriously trying not to lose! it was a close game all the way until about 3 minutes left i made some really bad turnovers and wound up losing by ten!
went to bed super-pissed, woke up, long day of work the next day, get home, CH2k8 time, and lo and behold I DESTROY #17 USC (89 ovr) at home, beat them by about 20 and it was never within single-digits... started coming off some screens with my star PG and it felt sooooo good
this game just never gets old... btw this is the same closed legacy I started as Central Arkansas coach in December 2007...Those who stay will be champions 〽️Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
Yes this game does own my soul. At first I did nto know about it I though it was going to be alot like NBA2K8 and though it was a waste of money.
The sad part is insted of this game, I was going to pick up NBA LIVE 08 yeah i know terrible think at the time.
Good the person I was going to buy it from, Lost the game!!
So I decied to buy this I loved college B-Ball and I wanted a game just to play until the season ended. To my suprise This game was really nothing like NBA 2K8... I could not make a shot inside, My team's passes were going out of bounce it got real frusterating at 1st. But after a while I became to love and know this game very well. I have had Legacy after Legacy, they just become so deep. and I know Im not the only one, But everyone remeber there favorate star recuit... I know mine was

Re: This game owns my soul.
i remember one time last year i took a loss that was pretty acceptable because the game was just so good. I was texas playing against oklahoma. I just scored and the score was like 77-77 with 5 seconds left. Oklahoma gets the ball across with like 2 seconds left and calls a timeout. They run an inbounds play Tony Crockett catches the ball a little outside NBA range pulls a 3 and makes it..I was in awe..That has got to be my best or one of the best i have ever played regardless of sport or game title..Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
Yea this game officially owns my soul, but anyway POST PATCH this game is the best sports game ever!!!! legacy and gameplay isn't perfect but besides not having realistic TO's and realistic tournament seeding the game is a must have....
IMO, legacy is the best part of this game in, OPEN legacy u can edit the game how u want it to be represented.....
The coaching caruasell is top notch...Recruiting is great and they improved the overall recruits with better names that fit the player's race, I've even seen brothers play on the same team! May have been my imagination but this event happened number of times...Same race, last name, and hometown! I even had twins I kid u not, both players committed to South Florida, they were from Mexico...I've even had a white guy named Hurly play at Duke as a PG he was from New York tho but its close enuff to NJ....
I didn't even mention that the CPU controlled coaches improve in ratings based off their season like the user's do!Last edited by Jukeman; 03-17-2010, 03:19 PM.Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
As much as I like this game, it's getting harder and harder to go back to it after playing NBA Live 10 and NCAA Basketball 10.
NCAA definitely has issues but it also does a lot of good things. The motion offense is amazing and the floor spacing is really good. The presentation is solid as well.
I'm sure I'll go back to 2K8 at some point (I always do, lol) but right now, it's tough for me to find room for this game in my rotation.Currently Playing:
