If you don't call a play, the CPU will call one for you. You may have to wait a couple of seconds, but it will eventually call a play for you.

If you want the CPU to call plays for you it helps to play with the play diagrams ON and the play called display ON, so when the CPU calls a play the on floor diagram come up to show you where to go and the name of the play will also be shown.

A nice idea from tfin1212, for archiving your results in this game:

"...What I have done is at the last screen after the National Champoion is decided and the season is complete I make a separate save from my "Dynasty" file that is named "2008 Season Final", "2009Season Final", and so on...so that I have a file I can always load that shows the season's results, awards, records, stats...it serves as my yearbook..."

This is great. Does anyone have a list of the moves and analog controls for the 360 as well?

Anything you can do to have the AI force more turnovers. Even on MOP with sliders maxed in favor of the AI defense, speed, Def Awareness, steal, steal succes, and human ball handling turned down to 30, they still only force a few turnovers per game.

There are no travels, no errant passes and few offensive fouls which always lead to lower turnover totals. I don't think anyone has been able to get realistic turnover numbers, I know you've tried harder than anyone fist.

It's a gripe that's come to bother me quite a bit in this game, on-ball defensive pressure means nothing. You can't get in a guys face and force a bad pass that goes out of bounds.

I'm still waiting for a basketball game to properly incorporate travels, they never happen unless it's user error.

Thats what I figured. I try to alley opp alot of fast breaks and rack up some turnovers that way. A few times yesterday, the AI jumped some passes to the post and stripped the ball a few times inside. I did have a game where I turned it over 10 times, but the problem is if I was completely careful and played every series like my life depended on it, I would probably turn it over 2 times or less per game.

The only thing I could do to combat this was to up the AI ball handling to 100 and Offensive awareness to 100 to make sure the turnovers were relatively balanced.

I play with the broadcast view which I think gives me a few more turnovers. 2 reasons:
                1. I suck.
                2. Often times there is a defender just out of view that jumps in to intercept......I think this helps with the turnovers....or perhaps it is just #1.

                  2. Gets the ball into the scorer's hands more.

Here's the balanced book I created, for those who don't want to go through the playbooks themselves:

                  CPU Balanced

                  BOX- Pick then Post

                  FLEX- PG Choice
                  FLEX- PF Low Post
FLEX- PG-C High Screen and Roll
UCLA HIGH POST- SF Low Post
                  UCLA HIGH POST- SG Iso
                  PRINCETON- C Low Post Feed
                  STACK- Double Cross
                  STACK- Screen Step Out

                  STACK- Michigan

You very well might be able to just use this playbook, or another like it, for the CPU playbook all the time.
                  Many thanks for this discovery.

I had an idea that was somewhat similar to yours that I had been using for the past two-seasons in my legacy. When I went to change the playbook that the CPU used I gave them the 'All Plays' option so that they would have every play in the game at their disposal.

I was happy with the results of giving the CPU access to every play in the game because I had grown tired of seeing the same teams run the same few plays all game, every season (it got too predictable after awhile).

However, I think your idea is better because it weeds out the plays that simply don't work very well in this game. Using your set of plays, the CPU is now only running plays that have a very good chance of being successful and making better use of their personel; which has made the game even more challenging for me.

Since your idea only allows the CPU access to 20 plays, I'm afraid that I might start seeing the same plays being run too often again. And if it does become a problem for me I'll just go back to what I was doing before, but so far so good and I am very pleased with what I'm seeing.

                  Thanks again .

Would you mind putting your Human playbooks online too, or could you just use the CPU playbooks?

You could use the CPU playbooks if you wanted. I basically just chose plays that seemed true to college basketball.

I myself use a playbook with plays I created. I tried to upload it but couldn't, as it would freeze my PS3.

Unfortunately for me, my PS3 also freezes in Legacy mode when trying to load my created plays along with a playbook for the CPU to use. I'm trying to find a way around it. I think the freezing has to do with the playbook with created plays.

RECOMMENDED PLAYS FOR A USER CUSTOM PLAYBOOK

I just went through the playbooks again to try and find good plays for a USER custom playbook (as opposed to a CPU one).

I essentially eliminated ones with poor spacing, ones that don't really work too well, many of the ones that revolve around on ball picks (simply because they are too similar to the "Pick & Roll" quick play), and many of the ones involving isolation (simply because they are too similar to the "Iso" quick play).

I didn't do a ton of testing with these, so there may in fact be some plays not listed that you might actually like. So again, these are just recommended.

I've also listed which position the play is for, with the primary player listed first if more than one player is involved, as well as a brief desciption in some cases. If the primary player is listed as "ALL" then it means there is a lot of passing and movement, with the scorer being dependent on what the defense gives them.

                          Here they are:

                          BOX
                          1. PF Pop Clear (SG, PF) - A simple high post on ball screen for the SG, where he can shoot the J, drive, drive and dish, or pass to the PF.
                          2. PG Dive & Curl (PG) - A simple cut to the hoop by the PG.
                          3. SF Popout (SF)
                          4. SF Post High (SF)
                          5. SF Triple Screen (SF) - SF receives ball at about the high post.
                          6. Pick then Post (PG, C) - C picks on ball for PG, then posts up.
                          7. Cal-Wheat (ALL)
                          8. Quick Hit (SG, PG) - For a quick 3.
                          9. PF Dbl Screen (SF, SG, C) - SF gets on ball screen, can pass to SG outside the arc, and then C posts up.
                          10. Minutemen (ALL)

                          MOTION

                          1. Screen Motion (ALL)
                          2. SG Spot Up (SG) - Ball goes first to the PF in the high post, then to the SG on the baseline, and then PF sets an on ball pick.
                          3. PG Loop (PG) - PG ends up receiving ball down low with many options.
                          4. SF 3pt Wing (SF)
                          5. Baseline Stack (ALL)
                          6. SG Stagger (SG) - SG comes off screen, then gets on ball screen.
                          7. 4 Motion (ALL) - PG can feed C in post at the end.
                          8. dribble motion (ALL) - SF can feed C in post at end.
                          9. switchback (ALL) - SF can feed C in post at end.
                          10. 24-Motion (PF, SG, C) - PF comes off screen and goes towards high post, SG can feed C in post at end.

                          4-OUT
                          1. 4 Motion (ALL) - PG can feed C in post at the end.
                          2. dribble motion (ALL) - SF can feed C in post at end.
                          3. switchback (ALL) - SF can feed C in post at end.
                          4. 24-Motion (PF, SG, C) - PF comes off screen and goes towards high post, SG can feed C in post at end.
                          5. Quick Hit (SG, PG) - For a quick 3.
                          6. PF Dbl Screen (SF, SG, C) - SF gets on ball screen, can pass to SG outside the arc, and then C posts up.

                          4. Minutemen (ALL)

Some of you may already know about these, but I just discovered them myself. There are a certain number of plays that exist under ALL PLAYS, but NOT under any of the specific playbooks (like BOX, MOTION, etc.).

You can add them to custom playbooks by scrolling to ALL PLAYS, and then scrolling to the specific set named BASELINE or TRIANGLE.

There is also one play NOT in the MOTION playbook, but is in the MOTION 4 set in ALL PLAYS.

The ones I found worthy of use I have put in bold red, and consider these plays to be an amendment to the plays I recommended in my previous post.

                            BASELINE 1
                            SG Backdoor
                            PF Screen Post
PF Decision (PF, PG) - PF gets ball in post, then PG cuts to basket.
                            Wing Pick & Roll
                            SF-C Pick & Roll
PG-SF Pick & Roll (PG, SF) - SF sets pick at top of key.
PG Postup (PG) - PG gets ball at high post.
                            SG Wing Screen

                            BASELINE 2

                            Draw and Kick
Screen Low (C) - PG screens for C, C then posts up.
                            SF Pitch

                            TRIANGLE 1
Triangle Post Option (PF, C, SF) - PF gets ball at FT line, with passing options.
PF High Iso (PF) - PF gets ball at FT line, players clear out.

                            TRIANGLE 2
                            SG Post High (SG)

                            TRIANGLE 3

                            C Low Block (C)
C Playmaker (C, PG) - C gets ball at high post, PG cuts to hoop.
                            Wing Exchange

                            TRIANGLE 4

                            PF Low Post (PF)
                            SF Screen Iso
Mary (PF, SG, SF) - SF cuts to hoop, SG looks to feed PF in low post.

                            TRIANGLE 5
                            PG Corner 3 (PG)
                            C Quick Post
C-SG Flash (C,SG) - C posts up, SG comes off screen for kick out.

                            TRIANGLE 6
                            3pt Reversal (SG)
                            SG Triangle Post (SG)
                            SF Create

                            TRIANGLE 7
                            SG Corner 3 (SG)

                            TRIANGLE 8
                            PF Double Screen
SG Corner Pick (SF, SG) - SG sets pick for SF, then fades.
                            Bigs Screen Roll

And the one motion play not in the motion playbook:

                            MOTION 4
Hawk (SG, SF, PF) - SG gets ball outside arc, SF posts up, and PF comes to high post.
                            All ties severed...

^ I should add... I've been testing these against man and the 2-3, and have pretty much overlooked other defenses simply because you don't see them very much. Though I think a lot of them still apply against other defenses.

Also, I couldn't find a way around the freeze problem I was having. So if you have a PS3 and want to create some plays, and then use a custom playbook for the CPU too and use them both for games in Legacy Mode, you may want to think otherwise. I was able to use created plays in Legacy games, just not while also using a custom playbook for the CPU (which is why I scoured the playbooks for good plays to use).

                                PLAYS TEMPLATE FOR QUICK REFERENCE

I have sorted through all the plays in the game and chosen ones I like for each position. Considering players change during a legacy I thought it would be good to put together this quick reference template as a way to organize my chosen plays.

The way to use it is to write down all your favorite plays, grouped by the position for whom the play is for, along with the set that play is in so you can find it easily, as well a brief description of the play so you can recall the play if you don't remember it by name or set.

Once that is done you can easily put together a playbook based on the players you have. For example my team this year has a great PF and a very good SG, so I went to the section where all the plays for PFs and SGs are and chose some plays for my playbook this year. Next year after these guys graduate I can easily change my playbook based upon who my best players are.
