Re: Who Has Your Team Worked Out? (Draft)

Just wanted to post that when I said Kwame Brown would be at least as good as Okafor, it was in no way an putdown to Okafor, just how good I think Brown can really be...

Speaking of Bob's Cats, do you think they might take G. Green if he drops to them at the 5? His stock seems to be dropping since his d is a question and he only wants to do solo workouts. Its pretty much a given Portland won't be taking him at the 3....

he WILL be at least as good as an Okafor if he is moved somewhere where is is 1 or 2nd option.
I dont think see. If he is, he's taking entirely too long. Okafor is much better

He is also a top-notch defender at the forward position, he can frustrate the best of them (He has locked down JO, Okafor and Duncan among others)
I dont know about this. Okafor averaged 15 poings and 9 rebounds against Washington last year.

I really don't have much to say as far as how the Cats feel about Gerald Green. His workout was today, so I guess we'll say later. Bickerstaff said that Martell Webster was worthy of a 5 pick though, who knows if that's a hint to whether we'll grab him or not.

I know Okafor played well against the wizards, but i'm talking about head to head vs. Kwame. Okafor was successful against the other players (Etan Thomas & Haywood).

Fair enough to say that Okafor is much better, as of now what im saying is mostly speculation. I just think that if Kwame was drafted into the position that Okafor was in that the team is going to go with him (which was what Wiz were doing before MJ f'ed it up) then he would have at least comparable success. Kwame is an ignored player on the wizards, I hope he signs with Cleveland in the offseason...

Who is Martell Webster? Can you give me a rundown on him?

Most of Houston workouts are private, but I know they have worked out Gerald Green and Hakim Warrick.

The Raptors are bringing in Andrew Bynum as well as probably the 4th best PG in the draft, Roko-Leni Ukic. I believe they will bring in Wayne Simien for another workout. Anyway, most GM's are in Italy for some tournaments featuring some of the best international prospects.

He's a pretty big 2-guard at about 6'7", 230 pounds with a lot of lift on his jumpshot. He runs the floor well, but more of a jump shooter from mid and long range than a finisher at the rim. Picture Glen Rice

He seems like he could be a Bruce Bowen type of player, Supposedly he has a great work ethic and could be a great guy coming off a team's bench.

The Bobcats concur. Coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff said if they want Webster, they'll have to grab him with the fifth overall pick, because he'll almost certainly be gone before they pick again at No 13.

Last year Bickerstaff seemed more reluctant to draft a high school player. Perhaps that's because he was so enamored with Emeka Okafor. Now, Bickerstaff says he wouldn't hesitate to draft the right high school player.
I dont see why CHA even considers him at #5. He hasn't shown anything besides a greeat jumpshot IMO. He's quite a ways from being a contributor in the NBA as well.

Trevisto, Italy. Its basically the European verision of the Chicago Pre-Draft Camp.

                  Since when?

Unless with the new CBA the cap is raised to 50 million, DEN wont have enouhg money to go after Hughes.

Well you have to remember, he's still a HS and I guess they say he only has a little more to improve on. They are saying he could be a dominate offensive player et al Glen Rice. He already has an NBA body so it's little things he needs to improve on.

If he is part of the defensive player Bowen is, he still has more potential to be better than Bowen. Basden has only been playing basketball since HS or something like that, so he has a lot of upside. In my mind, he'll be a better offensive player than Bowen will ever be. He can play defense, share the ball, and finish at the rim.

They have the 5th lowest payroll in the league.

Yeah he can. His shot isn't wonderful, but he can hit it if he's open. He shot 39% from long range last season.

We finally worked out Gerald Green, and Bickerstaff was again impressed. However, he really wouldn't say who was better between Green or Webster, but he did say that Green is also worthy of a number 5 pick.

Scouts said he struggled with his shot during the pre-draft camp. That's his major weakness. I'd hold off the Bruce Bowen comparisons. Just because his D was stout in college, won't necessarily translate to his D being stout in the pro's. And Bowen makes his living on being a realiable 3 pt shooter(from the wings but mostly from the corner).
