Just as gin said there are many questions that cant be answered yet about the Lakers so how can you be so sure that the future is soooo much brighter for the Lakers.
1 ring. Ok , I respect your opinion. But in reality, Shaq, I think is aging dont you agree? And what happens when you age towards the mid, upper 30's? But put all that aside. Diesel is asking for a 90 mil contract extension I believe. Thats nearly over half or more of the cap size. He's eating up space for potential free agency that could make the team stronger and have another run for the championship. Heat's future?
As for the Lakers, they are no where near title contenders, yet alone playoff contenders as this season proves it. But they have expiring contracts which frees up cap space, possible luring in free agency. With that, the Lakers can hope they draft a potential decent player from the draft since they do have a high pick. Lakers' future?

I think we all know why.
Ok lemme let this sink in....
A very selfish ballhoggin' Kobe at 28 years old.....or a 23 year old Dwyane Wade, who makes teammates better and is liked by all?
I'm going with the Heat's future on that one.Comment

So you rather take a 90 mil contract extension of a man whose aging and only becoming less of a force that he was then taking a 24 mi contract?
Your saying 90 mil > 24 mil?
Wow. Why don't you ask the people around here with some knowledge towards the game of basketball of which one of the contracts is the cap killer.
Here. Go in here and gain some knowledge pimp.

Re: How do you feel about Shaq not making it to the finals?
90 million is the total amount of a 3 year deal Kobe's deal may pay him 24 mil in the last season I believe. Shaq is asking for an avg salary of 30 mil, Kobe's will esculate up there in the next few seasons. Shaq is still the most dominating force in the league bar none. If he and Wade were healthy, they would be in the finals with less talent than the Pistons, this is taking nothing away from the Pistons because injuries are a part of the game. The Sports Preacher

I have no problem with Shaq not making the finals though. I do beleive that Shaq's presence in MIA makes them an instant title contender which did came true for this season. It took DET 7 games to put down the fire Shaq started in MIA but fueled by Wade.Comment

You wanna tell me how thats gonna affect the future of both teams salary/cap/management/coaching/organization-wise?

I honestly don't believe Shaq will play all three years. Especially if they win the title next year.
And what really does Miami have to improve on? They have Wade and Shaq. Haslem, E. Jones, D. Jones, Butler, Doleac, Dooling are the role players. That's all they need. And if the high school kid Dorrell Wright comes out next season to contribute, that's even better.
Who are the Lakers going to grab that equals to Shaq? Nobody.
