Wow... catch a game some time.
True, the Pistons were close, but the addition of Larry Brown (as well as Rasheed) put them over the top. He severely outcoached Phil Jackson in the 2004 Finals and he outcoached SVG down the stretch of Game 7 in the ECF. He made a huge difference.

The Lakers were a good team when Phil Jackson arrived in 99-00.

Indiana will be much better next year and I still expect Miami to be a contender. Flip Saunders only got Minny past the 1st Round once. Good luck to yall.

Larry might not even be back next year for ANY team. Isn't his health a major concern right now?

            Agreed

Rick Carlisle had 2 seasons with this same team, and won 50 games before Larry 'Stab Me In The Back' Brown. I think if Flip came in he'd ride this team deep into the playoffs each year just as Larry did. He had no team in MIN. Flip finally will have a team in which people can play with each other, unlinke MIN where Garnett just could get those clowns to play with him.

And Clay can you post a link or pic of Larry's wife...soon to be yours

This is bitter sweet. In a way I am glad to see him go because he lost his players this year and I am not sure he was going to get them back. Being a fan and reading the local papers you really understand how the players started to distance themselves from LB.

On the other hand they are not going to find a better coach. It looks like Flip is going to try to follow Larry but I do not want him as the coach. The only problem is he is probably the best\only candidate out there. I just wish this would have been resolved while McMillan was still available. At least he has recently got more out of a team than anyone ever expected where on the other side Flip's T-Wolves teams can only be remembered as disapointments

When this happened with Prick the Pistons upgraded, now that LB is out whoever comes in will be a downgrade.

Oh well, the Pistons will still remain one of the best teams in the NBA and now Darko and the other young guys may get some minutes. With the rest of the team coming back, and with all the experience they have I do not see any drop off in year 1 of Flip

I'm not jackin' Brown because I do believe he is a great coach... but to compare him to Phil or The Hedgehog is not quite a compliment. Phil Jackson is the most overrated coach in history. And the Hedgehog....well...come on.

I firmly believe that all you need in here is a coach to hand out the minutes. This is a self-policing team (insert Brawl jokes). They need a coach to do two things....reel in Chauncey when he needs it...and make Sheed hit the blocks... Period.

I don't see how Indiana or Miami are better next year. OK, Indiana MAY be better if Artest can stay in the league... but Miami is the same team with an older Shaq. That's not better.

Actually, the "health concern" is that his bladder got jacked from the surgery. That is pretty common after hip surgeries.

LBrown is a solid coach, no doubt his coaching & leadership & X's & O's were a reason for DET's current Finals run, but it comes down to the players on the court.

I definitely feel LBrown was what helped put DET over the top, but they should be able to contend with their core of talent.
