If LB isn't 100% on-board, why would you keep him? Why do you want someone who doesn't want you???Listen to The Remodeling Clay Podcast!

Re: Brown is out
Perhaps this will get Darko onto the floor, which could make the Pistons even better (but who knows). Even if Brown returned this year the Heat are going to make it difficult for anybody else to win the east.Texas Tech, Red Sox, FC Dallas and Reading supporterComment

Re: Brown is out
I don't see how Indiana or Miami are better next year. OK, Indiana MAY be better if Artest can stay in the league... but Miami is the same team with an older Shaq. That's not better.Originally posted by EWRMETSMaybe the best post in OS's history. If you don't think Tony Romo is a Hall of Famer, you support al Qaeda.Comment

Re: Brown is out
We'll see how well Miami is next year. A lot has to do with how Shaq plays. He obviosuly put a lot of work last offseason to be ready for this season but as seen in LA, he doesn't always continue that same dedication in the years following. They will also lse Dooling it seems, though they added a solid backup at PF in Simien.
I'm just gald that I can stop turning on Sportscenter and see the basketball talk all about Larry Brown. Hopefully there is a clause that wont allow LB to coach next season and we can talk about summer league, free agents and trade talks instead of LB.Comment

Originally posted by ginTrue. If LB wasn't 100% on board, then you had to let him go. I'm not sure Flip is the right man for the job though. I'd wait and see what Riley decides to do in Miami before hiring Saunders. If Riley lets SVG go and decides to coach, I'd rather have SVG than Flip.Listen to The Remodeling Clay Podcast!

Re: Brown is out
Originally posted by Clay_OSStan Van Gundy would NEVER get a gig in Detroit after taking a shot at the fans during the ECF. Never... they wouldn't let him sell hotdogs at the Palace (also because he would eat half of them).
If I were a Pistons fan, I wouldn't mind SVG being Head Coach. Imagine SVG getting the boot in Miami and then going up to Det to coach the Pistons and playing Miami in the ECF.

Re: Brown is out
I think that Flip Saunders would be a good replacement for Larry Brown. It's really a continuation of LB in many ways as there's only slight differences in their coaching styles. The only reason why Flip was fired from Minny was because he got caught up in a bad situation with a bunch of digruntled overpaid bums.
The Pistons will make the ECF for sure and possibly the Finals.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Brown is out
The Pistons are THAT good where they dont need Brown but I just hope they can get to the Finals without him. Sure, they put up great seasons with Carlisle, but Brown's great X/O coaching helped out so much.
I dont know, I guess we'll see what happens. Saunders is a good coach. Good enough? We'll see, but I dont think it's doom and gloom.
Plus, if the Suns arent gonna win it, then I want the 'Stones to take out the Spurs.Comment

We'll call LB still active for the sake of this argument...
OK...go!

Re: Brown is out
It's time to move on. Larry did alot for the Pistons, but he also disgraced the organization with his pathatic flirtations with other jobs. This class organization didn't deserve that. I think the players will be happy with a guy like Flip. Carlise and Brown were grinders, Flip will provide a new style that the players will like. He better keep that defensive mentality though. I am going to look up Minny's defensive stats from his tenure. I just hope we beat larry's arse wherever he ends up. I can see him coaching Marbury and Crawford. He'll think coaching AI was a picnic
EDIT: Its hard to find defensive stats, but a couple of years they had a low fg% against so hopefully this works out if its Flip. Who else could they get.Last edited by poster; 07-18-2005, 06:09 PM.Comment
