I think taking as much as ONE college player (even if it was J.J. Redick and even then only for an occasional three point shot and free throw shooting situations) would be a bad call. A whole team would just get obliterated... no offense to Air Force or anything, that's just the way it is.

We don't need the All Stars sent over there. Just pick a team that works well, and feeds off each other together. Then we will be fine. I have a lot of faith in K, and Jerry C in putting this together.President of the Devils Den

Originally posted by EWRMETSThat's not true. The reason why the last team sucked was because it wasn't picked right and the best players did not want to play.
You bring in Brand, Amare, Kobe, Bosh, Howard, Wade, Lebron, Redd and that will debunk this myth about not fielding a team full of stars.Comment

Re: Is anyone else getting pissed off
I do think it is important to have a team that plays well together and has all the different elements (shooters, rebounders, defenders, etc., and not just scorers), but this does not mean you cannot send stars. Ray Allen, Elton Brand, Ben Wallace are all stars, and are all players that would be perfect for the team, and are all the kinds of players that were missing last time.Comment

Stop crying about who should be playing in the games, ya'll. These guys are professionals, and like most of us, relish their time off to spend with loved ones and just to unwind. Plus, I don't think most of us understand the physical toll professional sports exerts on the human body.
Stop hatin' from the gotdamn sidelines and passing judgement on someone else's choices to do with THEIR life. The bottom line is as good as international ball has gotten, until the US decides to have a National Team not a quasi-team put together on the fly, they will continue to have stiff competition regardless of who they have on their team.
I also disagree that a team of college players would get smashed in the Olympics. I think this because they are more apt to play a team game. By the way, why the hell, does everyone say just send the Pistons? Oh, I forgot, because they play team ball. The talent of US ballers is still above the world, we just watch too much And1 on ESPN.
What is also amusing if ANY of these PROFESSIONALS ( I don't know why they started letting pros get in it anyway) gets injured playing or even practicing for the Olympics, most of ya'll will jump the fence and next we'll have a thread....
Is any other NBA fan pissed....because my favorite player, JKidd, AI and Tim Duncan got injured in the Olympics???
I think its selfish to complain about a choice someone else makes about their own life, just because we would do something different(or at least we say we would) if we were in their shoes. Not your life, therefore not your decision to judge. Just cheer on whoever does choose to go, and call it a mf day.Originally posted by My Wife"The Celtics only won because they have a magical elf playing for their team...."Comment

like i posted b4:
If you truly believe that, are you telling me if ALL the stars chose not to go and instead we sent
PG Kevin Ollie
SG Bernard Robinson
SF Qyntel Woods
PF Mark Madsen
C Michael Bradley
You'd be fine with us losing by 20 every game?
"oh well, it's their choice."
but after seeing the 23 selections I think we will be alright
6 of the 12 I wanted (Billups, Kobe, Lebron, B. Bowen, A. Stoudamire, D. Wade) hopefully will be their for 2008.Last edited by mutumbo888; 03-07-2006, 03:29 AM.Comment

Re: Is anyone else getting pissed off
Yea...its my country...playing basketball...it doesnt affect me whether they win or lose. Actually, since they lost I have noticed gas prices dropping...maybe I should start caring! Oh...my...God!
Seriously though, its not like they are fighting for our country in a war, they are just playing basketball. The only thing that would be different today had they won would be that we would be able to tell people "Our country has the best basketball players in the world"...whether thats true or not....It doesnt bother me not to be able to say that...no sweat off my back at all.Comment
