Re: Jalen to Knicks
Good deal for the Raptors, cleared a lot of cap space.
Ok deal for the Knicks. Taking on the contract isn't an issue, but I don't think Rose has a history of working well with Brown. Nice to get a first round pick though.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Originally posted by dieselboyThe Raptors remind me of the Bulls a few years back..
They got all that cap space to make a run at T-Mac, Duncan, Hill, etc. and failed to land any of them.
Wow, horrible comparison. We are tryign to get a young core first then go after big names...Comment

Re: Jalen to Knicks
The most interesting thing about this trade IMO is that Jalen Rose is 100% NOT what you'd call a "Larry Brown type player".
Yet he IS 100% an IT guy / very close to IT.
There's already talk LB has lost the dressing room...moving in one an IT guy seems strange timing.Comment

Re: Jalen to Knicks
Originally posted by dieselboyLike the Raptors need cap room...they ain't signing no one.
First and foremost, secure Bosh. All star for years to come and getting better every game.
Bring back Mike James if realistic..a hard nosed player who can shoot the lights out and play some pretty good d.
Go after free agents like Nene and Peja. Nene has a former connection with Toronto (translator I think), while Peja would feel welcomed by the huge Serbian community here. Foreign players like these are far more likely to enjoy Toronto than most American born players...
Great deal for the Raps....and as for the Knicks, it gives hope to all armchair GM's who say "I could do a better job than him!"...When it comes to Isiah, it's most likely true.Comment

I wonder if Brown will be pushed out of NY and Thomas takes over as coach?Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Jalen to Knicks
GREAT!! As a Knicks fan, let me just say that on behalf of all Knicks fans everywhere, whoop-da-freckin-do! Let's see, we traded Antonio Davis to the Raptors (he's be in TOR for a week, then he will pull a Alonzo Mourning, get a contract buyout, and return to his former team, the Chicago Bulls) and in return, we get the one person WORSE than Marbury in the "play the right way so that I don't get a heart attack" motto. Also, we pick up ANOTHER BIG CONTRACT, and these monstrous contracts have been one of the main reasons why the Knicks will be perpetual losers for a few more years (To give you an example of these types of actions in the last five years, what other franchise in sports would pick up a 3-year, $27 million contract for TRAVIS KNIGHT). We also get essentially DEN's first round pick, and the odds are we won't draft well, although this year's draft seems to be an incredible exception to the scouting team that has wasted picks on the likes of Frank Williams, Frank Weiss, and my personal favorite, Eric Chenowith (oh, it hurts).
Apparently Isaiah Thomas has taken up the President's approach to the Knicks financial situation. However, he hasn't figured out that deficit spending in the NBA doesn't lead to any good.
ISAIAH, PLEASE RESIGN.
[As for Toronto, the new GM is not afraid of pulling off trades. He wants to free as much cap room as possible, so expect MoPete to be out and even Bosh (which would make no sense...but seeing it as they really want Stojakovich to draw in the large Serbian-Canadian population, perhaps ...)]Comment

The rumour tho is that Mike James could be available for the right price. Again tho as I have said earlier, i'm pretty sure James will be in a Raptors Uniform next year.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Jalen to Knicks
Check out this article by the NY Daily News a few days ago.
Isiah Thomas is running this organization into the ground. Yes, he has acquired a ton of talent, but you can say the same thing for each and every player in a Knicks uniform.
Not a good defender
Does not have the intangibles to be a leader
Has never played on a winning team
So what does Isiah do? He goes out and gets someone that fits that exact mold. He got a draft pick which is ok since he had already given up theirs to Chicago, but this move isn't really a good thing. If anything, it helps out Isiah the most because it will sway some of the media attention away from his off the court legal troubles for the time being.Comment
