I always thought MVP's get theres and bring the most out of there teamtes and team, which is one of the major reasons steve nash won last year.
And im sorry but if youd liek to bring kobes teasm vs chris team comparisons we can take it to the kobe thread....
Once again im not saying hes winning the MVP. I'm just saying consideration has to be given IMO, especially looking at the team (HORRIBLE), and what hes getting them to do.
And please lets try not to forget about Lebron James
Paul is the key ingredient to that team but he plays on a well-balanced, athletic team. Nash's team last year had the best record in the NBA. The Hornets are really nothing more than a .500 ball club....good considering where they were last year but really nobody on a .500 ball club should get MVP consideration unless you put up gaudy numbers like Kobe's 36 ppg or AI last year averaging 30 points and 7 assists per game."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Re: Who are your MVP canidates up to now...
just because somebody brings up "kobe" that doesn't mean it needs to go into the god awful kobe thread. plus the title of the thread is "who are your mvp canidates", so imo kobe is a canidate, so his name belongs in this thread.. i was simply comparing paul and kobe because their teams have identical records. and those records aren't nearly good enough for either of them to win the award. however they are canidates yes..
trust me kobe does belong in this discussion, by the time the season ends, if kobe's teammates can finally hit their WIDEOPEN shots off double teams the lakers will have a very respectable record. if the lakers don't allow 50% shooting on road trips they will have a respectable record. kobe would be a lock for mvp right now if his teammates converted their looks because their record would be comparable to the clippers.Last edited by ex carrabba fan; 02-05-2006, 02:43 PM.Comment

1. Steve Nash
2. EB42
3. Dirk
4. Billups
I think those are the clearcut top 4 and I feel it's basically a toss-up between the 4. This is one where it's not obvious at all who should win, not at this point at least.Comment

Re: Who are your MVP canidates up to now...
If the season were to end today, I'm guessing the top 5 would be in this order:
1) Steve Nash (easily - losing Amare was the best thing that has happened to his MVP chances (sounds really wierd to say that)).
2) Chauncey Billups
3) Elton Brand (should be #2, oh well)
4) Employee #8
5) LeBron (only if CLE makes the playoffs though (his FT% is borderline embarrassing))
What about most improved player?
1) David West
2) Chris Kaman
3) Alonzo Mourning (everyone loves the feel-good vote)
4) T.J. Ford
5) Wally Szczerbiak (starting to trail off...)
6) Sam Cassell (should get consideration, but won't)Comment

Dirk Nowitski, always ignored. I know he needs to do it in the playoffs but he should be starting in the All-Star game.Last edited by SoMiss2000; 02-07-2006, 05:13 PM."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell
