Re: you guys dont understand
Well none of you clearly want to comment on my point, just pick out a few things I say and go off. I like the insults though...sorry for trying too hard.
See now you making me feel bad the insult are in jest.
But anyway I will agree It may take him awhile to start.
It still doesnt mean hes not ready to take that step.
Considering I played a couple of years of college basketball and have been coaching HS ball for 8 years now, I do feel like I know a little bit about this stuff, but go figure. I don't know Labron's situation or anyone elses but to say there's nothing he can learn from going to college is crazy.
Exactly you dont know his situation but still act like an expert on him. The young man knows what hes doing. The last thing he needs is to possibly blow out his knee. Do you understand how much money is at stake? Another thing even though you played college basketball you really dont know what its like to be him. Im sure you didnt have games on ESPN or Nike Reebok, and Addidas throwing 25million in your face.

Re: you guys dont understand
I was really interested in this game because a Buckeye recruit, Ivan Harris, is a player for Oak Hill Academy. He was obviously the 2nd best player on the court after Lebron James. Unfortunately, he didn't get the ball very often. There are way too many ball hogs on Oak Hill. I can't believe they are a #1 team.Comment

Re: you guys dont understand
Well.. the fact of the matter is that LeBron James has had a rough childhood, and his family had their fair share of financial difficulties.
Why would James turn down an easy 20 million dollar contract after this year and go to college? How can he? He would risk injury and who knows what could happen. If he runs into injuries and things stop going his way, that first overall pick, the shoe deals, all of that could go out the window. There's no doubt there's a lot a player can learn in college, but in lieu of the success he will be enjoying if he goes to the NBA I don't think it's a good call. He can take care of himself and his family for life with one stroke of the pen come the next NBA draft and I think that's what he'll do.Originally Posted by Briman123

Re: you guys dont understand
Why do people make a big deal out of going to college rather than to going to the NBA. Because foreigners like Tony Parker played in the pro league since he was a teenager. So i don't see how good players like James have to go to college now because he could always go any time.Comment

Re: you guys dont understand
You know, I thought about this, and He'lll probably learn more about business, communications, accounting, PR, financing, contracts, leases, discipline, management,LIFE, and much more with the experience he'll get with all the people around him, than he would with 2 or 3 years of college. Is this not what college about? You go to college for an education, and career, and I think the hands on he'll experience will make up for that. Especially if he gets a sober minded vet, or man around him that can help guide him from the wolves out there.Comment

if lebron james goes to college, he'll definitely learn alot, and it would be a good stepping block for him.
but dat doesnt mean in any way he is not ready for the nba.
he will be able to ball with the nba players for sure, but he will have a rougher time adapting then if he had gone to college.

Thank you, this is pretty much what I was saying...and what SoMiss said as well. Should LaBron James go to college? No. Especially at this point it wouldn't be a smart move for him and his career. The only thing I have a problem with is saying that there's nothing he or any other kid in his situation or not could learn by going to college. That was the only thing I was responding to. Don't know when I started being perceived as some expert...I don't need to know what he or his family went through to know he shouldn't go to college but also have a problem with HS kids going straight to the league. My opinion on the matter isn't that complicated. There's just no reason you all should take everything someone says in disagreement with you as a personal shot.Comment
