Re: ***Official Running Commentary of Every Single 1st Rd NBA Playoff Game Thread***
well obviously the lakers effort today didn't exactly dispute this "report".. but i wouldn't put too much stock into that little story.Originally posted by fobbybobby23i didnt hear that, wow
yea definitely going into a game 7 with that type of mentality spells doom
i can understand how it was demoralizing, but they caused the game 6 loss by their own stupidity as a team, they played crappy, had 20 TO's, dodged about a million bullets, and still were in prime position to win, up by 3 with 12 seconds to go and still managed to lose
that IS demoralizing, but they should have remembered they still played it close, and even with a crappy game nearly won the series...i dont understand why they weren't fired up
i mean you'd think phil jackson would excel at motivating his players in this type of situations, like replay some vids of raja bell clotheslining kobe or something
what the hell do you expect after losing a tight game? you want the lakers to be smiling? athletes are human beings.. there's going to be lots of disappointment and what not in the locker room right after.Comment

Originally posted by mrs. carrabawe don't need mike james. the lakers need to address their defensive inabilities.
He's preety solid defensively...
While he may have his flaws, the Lakers have as much talent as the Raptors, and certainly, on paper, he'd be a nice addition to them. They need help at a lot of positions...Comment

Its exactly what happened. As a matter of fact they interviewed someone before the game who said it was a devestating loss, cant remember who it was.
Those were the same guys who reported that kmart had quit on the team before anyone else knew what happened.Comment

Yep, MJ is solid on D. Thing is, Mitch had a chance to choose Raymond Felton and passed him up for Bynum

i didn't know teams were allowed to draft a player who had already been drafted by another team.Originally posted by KDREYep, MJ is solid on D. Thing is, Mitch had a chance to choose Raymond Felton and passed him up for Bynum

well i'm sure that 7.5 ppg was not too sorely missed by the lakers this season. plus i would put money down that granger won't ever be an all star or be a "go to" player. bynum has a chance to be both of those. not to get too off topic but if anyone, maybe sean may instead of bynum only because may was nba ready.Originally posted by KDREoops , i meant danny grangerComment

i dont want a fat low-post version brian cook look alike! hahaOriginally posted by mrs. carrabawell i'm sure that 7.5 ppg was not too sorely missed by the lakers this season. plus i would put money down that granger won't ever be an all star or be a "go to" player. bynum has a chance to be both of those. not to get too off topic but if anyone, maybe sean may instead of bynum only because may was nba ready.
kidding aside, i would have LOVED granger, he matches up well because he can play PF, rebounds, blocks shots, is beastly, and is quick, so he'd match up well against the likes of boris diaw and shawn marion (maybe marion)
turiaf could come in and play back-up center, and brian cook's minutes would be limited cause he doesnt even know what letter the word defense starts with
bynum, im still on the fence with him
he's either going to be really good, or he's going to disappoint....and his returns aren't immediately feltLast edited by fobbybobby23; 05-07-2006, 12:35 AM.Comment

oh jeez. ever since the kid has been a laker i've been pretty cynical. feel free to check all of my posts on the kid ever since i saw him play in the summer pro league. saying that he "could" COULD be a go to player and an all star is not that daring of a statement. on the other hand, danny granger? get real, he's a nice player yes, but a top 10 pick? i dont think so.Originally posted by FlyboyMan, those Lakers shades must be NICE to look through.Comment

If you say Andrew Bynum has a chance to be an all star, I say Nenad Krstic has a chance to be Hakeem Olajuwon.Originally posted by mrs. carrabawell i'm sure that 7.5 ppg was not too sorely missed by the lakers this season. plus i would put money down that granger won't ever be an all star or be a "go to" player. bynum has a chance to be both of those. not to get too off topic but if anyone, maybe sean may instead of bynum only because may was nba ready.Comment

From the sportsguy
Living in Hollywood. Which gives me a chance to hear stories like this: During the timeout right before Kobe's game-tying layup in Game 4, the Mamba waited until Jackson was done talking, then went over to Smush Parker, grabbed him by the shoulders in full view of everyone sitting near the bench, then started poking him in the chest while repeatedly screaming, "You steal that ball! You steal that ball! You steal that [bleeping] ball!" Apparently Smush looked terrified, like a 14-year-old minding his own business then was suddenly being ordered to rob a liquor store by the leader of the Crips. But Smush stole the damned ball. And if there was video footage of this moment in the huddle, I think I would pay three grand for it.

i saw him two years in college. pacer fans seem to love what he does. his role wasnt to score on the pacers. it was mainly to try and guard the other teams best guards or forwards.
his output was decent in 23mpg and that improved in the playoffs. i feel he has a top 10 draft quality in that he has one of the top 10 potential/upside of the rookie class.. thats how you base draft picks, right?Last edited by RubenDouglas; 05-07-2006, 04:22 AM.Comment
