Re: Best Point Guard in the League
Yup...
It is a crime not to have him on this list man.
When he is helthy any night he can give you 30 points and 10 assist, and not to mention he actually plays defense (pretty well) and like Kidd he grabs rebounds.
I say it like this.
Right now- Nash
For what he's accomplished- Kidd
Talent wise- Baron Davis
The Future- PaulComment

Re: Best Point Guard in the League
I would've put Baron on that list, but I don't see him being elite.
The thing is it sorta comes down to Kidd and Nash, since I'm from NJ I have seen Kidd do amazing defensive plays that go unnoticed throughout theleague, then there Nash who gets praised for taking charges(which is B.S. IMO) but Nash has the points and the assists. Plus, the Nets have two of their starters go down for a significant amount of time. Remember pre-season the Nets looked like the were one of the elite teams in the NBA. So if the Suns didn't have Barbosa or Shawn Marion then their wins would be ALOT lower
But like I said, I have to go with Kidd, he is the best densive PG in the league today, he is third in assists, extremely tough, I mean the man had a divorce mid season and the game after it was finalized he gets a triple double.Last edited by dossier; 04-19-2007, 06:44 PM.Comment

Re: Best Point Guard in the League
Nash destroys that list. Robertson, magic, maybe stockton and some other old timers are the only ones that get close to the skills of that man. He is incredible at getting his teamates shot.
If they gave assits like hockey, for when he hits his guy on the rotation then that guy swings it to a third man, he would avergae like 25 assists a game.
IMO, Nash these past few years is the best pure point guard the association has ever seen.GT: Event Horizon 0Comment

Re: Best Point Guard in the League
BUT WHAT ABOUT DEFENSE?? Nash is horrible when it's man to man defense. He's barely average while all those other guards do both ends. I mean, Kidd can lock down someone if his knees go right. Baron can lock down if his knees go right. Nash can dish assist. No offense but until I see freaking Nash get to the finals, I don't want to hear that bull about him being the best. The best get to the big dance.
I like the guy, but he's getting too much credit. Only reason his team does poor when he's not there is because they don't have another point guard on that team. If they had a backup point guard that was sensible enough to handle the ball, then all this MVP stuff wouldn't mean beans. I'm just not sold on him like the media is pushing us to be. Kidd is nice. Definitely have to give Baron some props cause that fool is a baller. Just my two pennies.......Comment

you should not put Nash in the Stockton category, much less Robertson and Magic. no wayLast edited by ZB9; 04-19-2007, 08:59 PM.Comment

Re: Best Point Guard in the League
For some reason, that made me laugh. That big beard and the high sox are funny...makes him look like he's a 70's player they found in a block of ice...
Only 2 votes for Gilbert is surprising, Arenas was the forum darling 2 months ago...as always, hot guy gets all the props.Last edited by HMcCoy; 04-19-2007, 08:49 PM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: Best Point Guard in the League
How do you not see him as being elite? Have you seen what he's done to the Warriors organization, and how great he was on the Hornets? When healthy, he's a top 3 PG in the NBA.
And I'd say that Nash is the best today, for reasons that everyone has basically already stated.Comment

Re: Best Point Guard in the League
Nash has things locked down when it comes to running an offense. Though, I think Kidd is a better overall player due to his defense and rebounding abilities. Paul and Deron Williams will be at the top of this list in a year or 2.Comment

Re: Best Point Guard in the League
Steve Nash Right Now Is Best Player in The NBA, But Couple Years Back J-Kidd Was. Kidd is Number 2, But If You Look At Their Careers Overall Kidd Beats Nash. Kidd & Magic are the only players in NBA History To Have a Certain Amount Of Rebounds, Assist, Points & Steals. I Saw The Stat For It Last Night Just Can't Remember It.
Shooting- Nash
Rebounding- Kidd
Passing- Push
Defense- Kidd
Finals Experience- Kidd
MVP- Nash (Even Though Kidd Was Snubbed His First Year)
Triple Doubles- Kidd
CP3 would be third
Chauncey 4th
The Baron 5th (When Healthy)Comment
