Re: ***Official 2007 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread***
Cuban would probably blame the refs, like he tried to when Jason Richardson blocked that shot. I really hope the Mavericks lose.Last edited by jmood88; 04-23-2007, 08:34 AM.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

He is not a great coach. He is good, but not great. Mavs won 60 games every year but just got matchups in the playoffs where they weren't the better team at the time. Only a two bit idiot coach would not play their usual lineup. Only the dumbest f'ing coach in the world would continue that lineup after it put your entire team out of sync and both bigs played well in their limited time. Avery is grossly overrated.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

The Mavs could be in trouble. This is going to be a battle. Everyone is hard on Avery for making the move to go small. But he saw the handwriting on the wall long before the Playoffs started. The game where he sat his starters, reportedly to rest them, was just a way for him to gauge just what he had on his bench to combat what the Warriors do. GS has been a thorn in the Mavs side for a few years now and there seems to nothing they can do about. Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't the Warriors beaten Dallas 8 out the last 9 meetings, or something like that?
Listening to Barkley on TNT talk about what a mistake it was for Avery to change his lineup, I got the impression that the TNT gang haven't paid much attention to how these 2 teams have matched up these past few years. The Mavs HAVE used their big lineup against GS and they've been run so hard by the younger, quicker Warriors that by the 4th qtr they are spent. Maybe it was too soon for Avery to make an adjustment, but I can see his thinking. This is not about 67 wins and a pretty darn good run to be the best team in the league. This is all about how the Warriors have out-gunned them in the past. This dominance (if we can call it that) by GS over Dallas predates the arrival of Nellie. The Warriors seem to simply have the Mavs number. And Avery making a game 1 adjustment speaks volumes to that.

Avery did what he felt he needed to do and it didn't work because we shot so poorly. If we shot 45% or better everybody would be saying how Avery beat nellie at his own game. This is a series and the warriors are extremely athletic at every position. I trust that Avery knows what he needs to do and we will maketheneccessary adjustments, but we all know that Dirk and Stackhouse won't shot as poorly as they did last night.
This is taking nothing away fro G State who did what they needed to do and they got at least a split right now, which is all you can ask for when you don't have the home court in a series. I am very pleased with what I saw from Harris last night, if we can get that type of performance when our regulars start hitting we will be ok.The Sports Preacher

Coaching rule #4
If you have the more talented team you never let the other team dictate the style of play... You force them to play your style. Avery like last year in the finals is over thinking and not focusing on putting pressure on the opponent to keep up with Mavs as they play thier style of play"Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

What kind of lineup did he use the other times they played the Warriors? Cause if they used the big lineup and lost anyway I can't blame him for trying something new.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. What up Matrix? You predicted a sweep in the Spurs- Nuggets series..ha ha..here we go..oh by the way have you all seen the scared look on all Suns' faces going to the lockers at halftime..I really enjoyed it..Kwame Brown is just awful..MJ should have got down on him even harder..I'm fed up with his lack of fire and attitude..Kobe made some mistakes down the stretch and ran out of gas..Happy for AI and Denver..Lakers-Suns should be a long series.NBAComment

Agree totally Mac.
I've seen just about all of the Lakers last 20 or so games...and, honestly, he does that so many times. Bad shot after bad shot.
He seems to be tired come the 4th...but he still shoots regardless of wether he's got a decent look.
That "fade away three with two men in my face and none of my rebounders in position...", that's ALMOST getting to the stage where that should be his signature J.
It's a terrible shot.
I hate to bring up the MJ comparisons again...but I never saw Jordan go 1-11 down the stretch and pass up open team mates. Not in his prime.
MJ at 25 maybe...but not when he was 30. How old is Kobe now, he'd be around 29 / 30? It's like he hasn't learnt how to trust his teammates...
Just bad basketball. He'll average 40 a game this series...but he'll do it on 12-30 type shooting and LA simply has no chance playing that way.
Does anyone have Kobes ASSIST numbers for the past 20 games? He now seems to get 1 orr assists per night...
Early in the season, he was averaging around 6...and LA looked pretty good.NBAComment

We have always used our normal lineup against the warriors and have still been having trouble. Thats why I don't blame him for experimenting.I would rather him try it and it fail in game one as opposed to game 3 or 4.The Sports Preacher
