I'm not disputing the claim, but does he need to publicly state this? They were discussing how back in the old days, nobody felt the need to say these things. Personally, I would be pissed if Steve Nash ever said anything like that. Marion already made stupid comments about even considering joining a lesser team just to get MVP consideration without considering the fact that he cannot create offense for himself.

Re: Vote for 2006-7 MVP Here
Thing is there are still players on PHX that can create for themselves.
PHX has a free offense. HOU has no bench and a bunch of spot up jumpshooters who can't dribble or drive.
Nash doesn't have to say it becuase he's the PG, Tmac isn't the PG and still has to create for everyone including the PG.
Furthermore, I agree with him that he shouldnt be left out of the MVP talks when his team won 50 games, and they tout Kobe when LA was a game from missing the playoffs.Comment

Weren't you the one who said we should get rid of the Kobe clutter in this thread, yet you bring it up again. Why does everything here have to revolve around Kobe? We should discuss T-Mac's merits without the need to bring up Kobe.Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.Comment

Re: Vote for 2006-7 MVP Here
T-mac seems to be a part of this thread and I am just saying why I would not cast my vote on him as an MVP. Until he can build the credibility of being a championship contender, he will always be left behind. Besides most of the players that became MVP in the regular season belong to teams that are championship caliber. Not many of them (like Malone) may have won the trophy but there there presence in the team make them a championship contender and a serious team in thier respective conference.Comment

Re: Vote for 2006-7 MVP Here
First off, the dummies who were arguing about kobe in his thread brought the same discussion in here which had nothing to do with the MVP.
In speaking about the MVP, Tmac made those comments about him belonging in the same conversation as Kobe, and I was referring to what he said.
“If you’re going to put Kobe in there, it’s not who’s most valuable to their team,” McGrady said. “He is the best player in the league, no doubt. But to me, the M.V.P. is about the overall contributions to the team and what the team has doneComment

Nobody called Tmac the MVP, just said he belongs in the discussion.
And again, talking about the Finals and mentioning MVP have nothing to do with eachother.
This is a freaking low bball IQ discussion, Im done here.Comment

When you learn that MVP's are voted in the regular season and because of the regular season then we can talk.

Re: Vote for 2006-7 MVP Here
If were not considering team records, then Kobe is MVP, plain and simple. Nobody has done what this man has done in recent history. Love him or hate him, he is the National Basketball Association's Most Valuable Player......
But since that's not the way it works, Steve Nash is the MVP in my mind, but Dirk in Dallas will more than likely get the nod because of how well the Mavericks played during the season.Comment
