Re: Kevin Durant
You have none.
Durant has more tools than to simply be a scorer. The man is a shooter/scorer/post-up player(LeBron is ONE of these). In fact, Durant, if he can tune all these abilities to an elite level(of which he already has 2, shooting and scoring) will probably end up being one of the most well rounded scorers of all time... and possibly the greatest.
People say there's never been anything like LeBron... well, there's never been anything like Kevin Durant, either. When was the last time you saw a 6'10" guy dribble, shoot, play the post, shoot off the dribble, and control the wing like a guard? The last guy was probably Magic Johnson, but Durant is more athletic than him(in exchange for Magic's vision, I guess).
To say that a player can never supercede another is just ignorance.
I have that problem with people who worship Jordan as some basketball god. He was great, but in my mind there are others who are on the same level(Duncan, Olajuwon, Bird, Magic, Shaq). Jordan has a better legacy and worldwide impact than those players, but it doesn't make him better than any of them.
And about the Bird comparisons... well, the proof is in the numbers.
When's the last time you saw a guy score 25+ ppg and average 44% from three? Durant is just that good... He's 9th in the league shooting from 3 percentage wise, is in the middle of the pack when it comes to good mid-range shooters, and is 11th in the league percentage wise when it comes to shots in the post.
The guy is gonna be an amazingly exciting scorer to watch.Comment

Re: Kevin Durant
Durant is a scorer right now. LeBron does everything. Larry Bird did everything.
Kevin Durant will never develop LeBron's leaping ability, quickness, power, or court vision/passing ability. I can see Durant possibly becoming a better scorer than LeBron, but all-around athletic ability and basketball talent, he will never be the threat LeBron is.Comment

Re: Kevin Durant
The gifts LeBron had we've seen since he was a freshman in high school. Durant will definitely improve and will become one of the best in the league, but his game will never be as versatile and complete as LBJ's. He's the same player he was at Texas, except more skilled at what he does.Comment

Re: Kevin Durant
100% true. Kobe is smart enough to know that if you want to have a longer career, you better be able to do something more than slash. Thats why kobe shoots jumpshots. He can still get to the rim with the best of them but with him playing the way he plays now he will be playing until he's about 39 and he will still be a good scorer because he doesnt rely on his athleticsim as much as say lebron does. If lebron doesnt develop a jumpshot but the time he reaches that age his career will not be long and he will be ineffective when he starts to lose his speed.Comment

C'mon, the guy is good. But Lebron James good (and I think he is somewhat overrated), I don't see it.
Kevin Durant more athletic than Magic Johnson?Maybe the fat Magic back in the late 90's.
"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Re: Kevin Durant
Durant is more athletic than Magic. AT Magic's prime athletic point of his career. How can you laugh at that statement.
Another example of, "Because he is a legend he MUST be better at ____ than everyone else"Concrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

Re: Kevin Durant
Magic was pretty damn athletic before he tore his knee up. I believe it happened in his 2nd yr in the league. If you look at his clips from college and his rookie year he looks like a different player athletically.Comment

Re: Kevin Durant
Clearly Magic was stronger and more agile, but not much more agile. Just had a way better ball handle, which allowed his agility to flourish on the court at 6'9"Comment
