First of all, unless you are a Laker, Spurs or Kings fan, you can't really say anything negative about the Mavs in the first place because we would flat out smoke any other team in the western conference...
Now, I can see how the Mavs can be labeled as a "soft" team because of their lack of a physical presence inside, but so what? We've had some trouble with the Kings this year, and well, even dating to last year's playoffs. Big deal. Think the Kings WANT to play Dallas in a seven game series? I doubt it. Not to say Dallas would win, I'm just saying they aren't going to simply roll over and die like everyone else thinks.
Bottom line, is that there isn't a single team in the west that can play with Dallas besides the Kings, Spurs and at times, the Lakers.
Oh, and whoever keeps posting the Mavs playoff record the last 20 years or so and comparing it to the Rockets, I've got this to say: WHO CARES? Seriously, who gives two cents if the Mavs, or any team for that matter got taken out of the playoffs in the first round and the Rockets won championships just 8 years ago. That doesn't change the fact that the Mavs have killed the Rockets this year...last year...and will continue to be in their nightmares until Steve Francis moves to SG and they get a quality PG. The Rockets may be the team of the future, but the team of the present is the Mavericks...Period.
