    T-Mac = 2007 League MVP...?

One thing that rarely gets mentioned is that Jeff Van Gundy's system severely limited T-Mac's effectiveness on the court. The slow paced, grind-it-out philosophy was great for Yao Ming, but not so good for T-Mac.

Rick Adelman's run-n-gun system is just the opposite. Yao is spending much less time in the paint, opening up the lanes for McGrady. He's been treating the NBA courts like his personal playground. T-Mac is looking like he did 5 years ago in Orlando. Only this time, he has a supporting cast that can (potentially) hold its own against the best teams in the league. Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, Shane Battier, Mike James, Luis Scola, Chucky Hayes, Dikembe Mutombo, Steve Francis, Bonzi Wells, Rafer Alston. There's no shortage of veteran talent in the deep roster. There's no less than 6 or 7 guys capable of going off for 20+ pts on any given night. This team just needs some time to gel and learn playing with new people under a new coach.

If McGrady can stay healthy all year, I think he has the best chance of anybody to win the MVP trophy.

The season is not even a week old and you're calling T-Mac the MVP?

The Rockets would probably have to get a top 2 seed for T-Mac to get the award.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

It's far too early to be talking about an MVP, I don't care who it is and what has happened in the first 3 games.

All platic is saying is if T-Mac stays healthy, he has a chance. I don't think he's crowning anybody after three games like alot of people are saying.

Personally, I don't think he has a shot for many different reasons. To name a few...

              1. The two superstar theory. When you have a two-man team, the two superstars steal MVP votes from one another, canceling each other out. So, Yao is going to hurt his chances.

              2. No matter how much better T-Mac plays, everyone will say Kobe is better, whether the evidence supports it or not. And most will also say LeBron and Wade are as well (not saying they won't be better than T-Mac this season, but even if they aren't people will still say they are).

              3. McGrady is generally overlooked and underrated in the NBA.

              4. The Rockets play in the toughest division in the league, which will affect their record.

              5. Once averaged 32.0, 6.5, and 5.5 and didn't win it. Last year he carried the team through a Yao Ming injury, had the highest player usage rating, created all the offense in JVG's (non) system, got homecourt in the brutal west, and was never in serious contention for the award.

TMac definitely deserves recognition at this point.

You know if Kobe was playing this well, he'd be getting MVP votes. TMac is doing the damn thing and allowing his team to win while shooting at a high percentage and letting his teammates score.

To leave him out at this point would be premature and ignorant.

                              Man, that's just wrong.

As for the topic, too early to tell but you never know. It could happen. Other people are correct though that he tends to be overlooked.
