Re: T-Mac = 2007 League MVP...?
All platic is saying is if T-Mac stays healthy, he has a chance. I don't think he's crowning anybody after three games like alot of people are saying.
Personally, I don't think he has a shot for many different reasons. To name a few...
1. The two superstar theory. When you have a two-man team, the two superstars steal MVP votes from one another, canceling each other out. So, Yao is going to hurt his chances.
2. No matter how much better T-Mac plays, everyone will say Kobe is better, whether the evidence supports it or not. And most will also say LeBron and Wade are as well (not saying they won't be better than T-Mac this season, but even if they aren't people will still say they are).
3. McGrady is generally overlooked and underrated in the NBA.
4. The Rockets play in the toughest division in the league, which will affect their record.
5. Once averaged 32.0, 6.5, and 5.5 and didn't win it. Last year he carried the team through a Yao Ming injury, had the highest player usage rating, created all the offense in JVG's (non) system, got homecourt in the brutal west, and was never in serious contention for the award.N.Y Mets

Re: T-Mac = 2007 League MVP...?
That's my point. T-Mac could have the better season and people will still say "Kobe is the better player". How could T-Mac win the award when he isn't even the best at his position, or if he's a "second-tier" swingman? I don't want to turn this into Mac vs. Kobe (version 1,045,542,331.04), but all I'm saying is the constant bigging up of Kobe could hurt T-mac's chances. That "he will ALWAYS be better" pretty much says it all.Comment

I disagree. It's all about team success. If both the Lakers and the Rockets won sixty games, then sure, what you're saying would be applicable. However, if the Rockets take care of business in the regular season and win near sixty or better than that, then only other swingmen in the winning class will be brought up. I don't like the "best player on the best team" definition of the MVP award, because it's not true. The Mavs would still win a ton of games if you traded Dirk for any very good small forward, because of the talent around Dirk. The MVP should be for the player that adds the most wins to his team. However, that's not how they see it, and as such the "best player" is not a shoe in for the award unless he wins over fifty games OR joins a losing franchise and makes them a winning franchise in one year.Comment
