Re: Can we close the book on JJ Redick?
This topic is ridiculous. No other word to use here.
He's been injured both years and is just coming off of another. When he gets decent minutes, he plays very well, and averaged 11-12 ppg off the bench when he played more than 20 minutes. One of the best shooters to ever play basketball and you want to close the book on him? Please. He's amazing, yet people still post stuff like this.Comment

It's not his fault his coaches won't give him a chance. I know if I was playing 15 minutes one night, DNP the next, 5 minutes the game after it'd be pretty damn hard to get into a rhythm. I don't see why Keith Bogans gets more time than him.Comment

But it is his fault he has only one skill.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

He would be a good fit in a run n gun type offense like the suns. The magic are a more defensive minded team.Comment

Re: Can we close the book on JJ Redick?
Laettner was an NBA All Star with the Hawks. He was drafted by the then 1 year old Timberwolves and for his most effective years was that teams only star.
As for UNC "preparing them to pay for play"...your right, one on one, "and1" mixtape BS...that the NBA LOVES is right up Vince Carters alley...most in the know wouldnt want that guy on their team, but hell hes good for a couple of Sportscenter slams a night so that makes him an NBA AllStar. I am a huge Duke fan, so give me my Devils over Wallace, Carter, McInnis, Zwikker anyday.
To close, if you have such a "laundry list" of great UNC players, and Dukes are so overrated, how come Duke has owned UNC since the early 90's...how many ACC Championships did all that talent get you? Scholarship athlete is a hypocrisy, but Duke does have higher entrance standards than NC, most of UNCs "scholarship student athletes" couldn't find Durham on a map, much less attend school there.
Both are great basketball schools but UNC produces the better NBA talent. Both are successful with their own ways. What are you arguing? Duke's players are a lot smarter?
Even Reggie Love?

Maybe because they feel they wasted a lottery pick on him. Which they did. Maybe they should've had someone athletic guard him instead of a coach with a pad. I bet he looked good in practice.Comment

Also, just because he's white doesn't mean he's not athletic. I'm sick of hearing that from people. When he plays significant minutes, he produces. Look at the game logs, that's all you need to do. Your anti-J.J. bias is kind of sad considering it's preventing you from seeing the talent that he does have.Comment

He was far from a waste. It was a steal at 11, I'm surprised he didn't go higher.

Putting aside my bias...
He's a GREAT shooter. What else sticks out about him?
He's not fast, not a great ball handler, not a good defender...what the hell do you see?Comment

You act like his coaches aren't playing him because they have some vendetta against him. Couldn't be because Bogans or [insert mediocre 2 guard here] is a better defender, passer, rebounder. When you say he's produced when given time, produced how? He's had a few 10-15 point games, but unfortunately for him it isn't all about scoring. He still can't defend anyone, and he's still slow and undersized for his position.Last edited by billmatic; 12-15-2007, 05:35 PM.Comment
