I will take JJ on the warriors we need someone besides jackson and baron chucking threes.

rather have someone who can shoot them over 38%

I say keep the book open until we see a full season of consistent minutes. Anyone with that kind of range can be effective in the L espically with zone defenses and such...I realize I am in the minority here.

Yeah, I read his back surgery was a pretty major surgery that takes time to heal from. He could be a good role player once he gets adjusted to the league and gets into a system where he fits. Being undersized and a below average defender makes it tough though. You play him with a big PG that can guard 2s and he wont be quick enough to stick PGs and most 2's will be able to shoot over him or post him up. His ability to knock down open looks will make him stick though.

It's impossible to judge him on message boards without bias coming from Duke & UNC guys. I did see JJ give my Hoyas 43 his Sr Yr at Duke in the Verizon center.

Yea man I mean dude was playing in the ACC... Hes no punk IMHO. Excellent points on his defense and playing him with a big Pg I don't think it can work with him and nelson in the same backcourt at the same time. Post ups and Isolations all day long...

That would be dangerous but Belli can fill it up if you can get him some floor time.

Re: Can we close the book on JJ Redick?

There have been a lot of JJ Redicks that didn't translate to NBA players though. As it's been stated, a shooter can almost always find work in the league. The thing that scares me about Redick is that Van Gundy hates playing him. Maybe it's the injury, and if show, I have a decent answer to the question that starts off the thread-and it was a question, not an indictment. It was only after looking at the rest of his game that I started to really lean towards "yes, we can close the book on him".

He's young, so who knows, but the problem is every single facet of his game is weak besides the shooting right now. No D, no rebounding, no passing, no creating his own shot, no ball handle...I mean nothing. Orlando doesn't have the defensive talent make up for JJ's deficiencies, so maybe it's just the team he is on, but watching him play, he didn't look good at all. I know a lot of things contribute to that, so the jury is still out, but it doesn't look good at all.

I'm a UNC fan and he was someone I truly hated in college...because he was damn good and arrogant as well. I have JJ giving the shocker to the UNC crowd after hitting a 3 engrained in my brain forever.

I am closing the book on JJ as an NBA player. I don't believe he can do anything besides shoot. Nobody will give him space because he's not a threat to beat you off the dribble. If he runs off screen after screen and jacks up some shots he can maybe average 10 if he is consistent.

He does not stack up with NBA competition

Why would his coaches try to ruin his career? Even if he is much better than his performance has shown as you keep claiming, and even if orlando has a reason to not play him even if he's good enough, wouldn't he be serving orlando much better by them trading him away? I mean, surely the rest of the league, with their scouts and all, someone has to share your assessment and try to make a steal in a trade.

With that said, he's still young and he was so good in college that no one should give up on him yet. But so far, he's shown that he's pretty limited in the NBA game. Most NBA players need to be good at two or more things to hold a spot in the rotation. JJ is good at one as of now.

He seems solid, but 2 or 3 in a 20+ year run is a joke. Need I list the Heels who have prospered in the NBA? A better question is do we have enough time to list them all?

I was kind of kidding. I just hate Reddick. I hated his attitude all through college and how he thought he was AMAZING, when all he could do was shoot and was a subject of good coaching. Everyone's already said why he'll suck in the NBA in this thread, so I'll leave it at that. Loving your 2k analysis's by the way. Great work.

i agree with czar tho i think if he gets on the right team (uptempo)

                            he can flourish.

The D will never be good as his lateral quickness is second only to Damon jones.

But he can fill it up... and oddly enough he can draw fouls, convert his free throws, and hes not a horrible rebounder at the guard spot (check the stats)

id happily take him if we didnt already have Monta/Buike/Belly
