You don't shoot 42% from 3 (almost a full 4% more than the 2nd place team) by chucking up contested shots.

http://www.82games.com/0708/0708TOR3.HTM indicates that 63% of the Raptors shots come within the first 15 seconds of the shot clock. So clearly the notion that Calderon dribbles around for "18 seconds" is laughable.

Practically nothing from the Raptors comes in the paint because Bosh is their only post player. I don't see how that's Calderon's fault or a discredit to Calderon. He's no TJ, but it's not like Calderon is incapable of penetration. He doesn't have the quickest first step, but he's one of the best in the NBA at changing speeds. Just ask Rajon Rondo, who Calderon was abusing in the Raptors win in Boston a few weeks ago. Last night against the Spurs, the offense was ****ting the bed and Calderon was going to the rim every time in the late 3rd quarter to single-handedly bring the Raptors back in the game.

As for the person who suggested they play together, I don't think we'll see that happen. That would require TJ to play PG and Jose at the 2 since he's the far better shooter. However, that's a lot of size to give up on the defensive end. Calderon is atrocious enough on defense already, I'd hate to see him try to guard 2 guards for an extensive period of time. The Raps actually played TJ and Jose together for a few minutes last night, didn't work that great.

Ryan, state the games in which Calderon actually does what you state.

    thought so.

      Calderon's response.
"These days, many people ask me about Gilbert Arenas' comments about me on his nba.com blog. I do not want to give it much importance, because it is difficult to be liked by everyone. It is certain that many times the All-Star selection disputes the players because of their name or that they can offer more of a spectacle than another. In this aspect, he is right. He is a good player and I never had a problem with him. It is his opinion and I respect it, although, evidently I do not share it with him. We beat them the last time that we played against them and I expect that it will continue this way in the future."

There's not a team in the league that's any good when its two best players don't play.

Not to mention they had just lost to them the night before.

Well, Agent Zero is doing some frantic backtracking now with some more illogical arguments.

You know what, I’m sorry Canadian fans, I didn’t realize you guys do not have a sense of humor. I didn’t realize that you don’t like to laugh up in Canada. And Calderon isn’t even Canadian! I could see if I said something bad about Steve Nash, but Calderon is not a Canadian, he’s a Spaniard. All the comments I got from Spain, that’s OK, I can understand why you were mad at me. But Canada?
This is probably the dumbest thing I've read in a while. Are you a Mavs fan seeing Dirk trashed on a message board? You have no reason to defend him unless you're German, according to Arenas. I guess Spurs fans can't defend Tim Duncan now, that's up to fans in the US Virgin Islands. Anybody in this thread that wants to defend Gilbert's comments can only do so if they are from SoCal.

He’s doing very well for himself, he’s going to get paid money this year.
I guess Gilbert hasn't been paying attention to the month of February where TJ has been back and Jose is still the starter. TJ has even publicly stated that Jose should be the starter for the rest of the season because of the way he's played. Not only that, but he directly contradicts himself by saying that Jose is now a starter in the league later in his post.

I guess Gil doesn't consider discrediting somebody's hard work and incredible productivity as "something bad." How is comparing a potential all-star to a scrub like Kevin Ollie (no offense to Kevin Ollie fans out there) or saying things like "He’s about 20 years away from being an All-Star" not considered "something bad." Not only is it bad, it's downright insulting to the hard work Jose has put in to raise his game to this level.

How does this make any sense at all. Wizards fans can't be insulted by attacks on Jamison and Arenas this season because they could both be free agents this summer and might be somewhere else next season. Terrible, terrible logic.

I watched Calderon last week and he had a really good game. You can take him out of being a backup. He’s a starter now, he’s a starter in this league. You know what? With Jason Kidd gone and if Calderon plays how he’s playing next year and they’re winning in Toronto and he’s still the starter? He might have a shot at being an All-Star, he might have a crack at it.
At least Arenas managed to make one logical statement in this blog post.
