Kidd can hold his own against anybody, even these guys. Sure he's no defensive stopper but either are these guys. He'll be able to get his every night. Oh and he'll probably still be an All Star next year.

Actually, other than his constant flopping (yeah, yeah I shouldn't talk cause I'm a Spurs fan) D. Harris was fast becoming the best one-on-one defensive P.G. in the entire L. I'm shocked that Dallas was so willing to let him go, especially for an aging P.G. averaging a career-low in PPG (I believe). Dallas needed a true starting S.G. or a 15 PPG - 10 RPG guy at center, IMO.

You better hope so, but I noticed D. Wade ripping him a new a-hole two post-seasons ago. He isn't a scorer and doesn't have the lateral quickness he once had.

Plus, Dallas' interior defense got worse by losing Diop. Who are they going to throw at Duncan, Bynum, Gasol, O'Neal and Stoudamire once Dampier is in foul trouble?

Harris has been a good defender, especially against quicker PGs like Parker...but he's not exactly a "shut down defender". Harris has had struggles against the top guards, especially guards with size and strength.

PG Numbers vs. Harris

B.Davis: 14/26, 37 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists

T. Parker: 1/11, 7 points, 8 assists

M. Williams: 8/14, 19 points, 10 assists

C. Paul: 11/25, 33 points, 9 rebounds, 12 assists

T. Parker: 9/22, 23 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists

D. Williams: 13/20, 41 points, 7 assists

C. Paul: 9/21, 22 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists

S. Nash: 9/15, 21 points, 18 assists

again, Harris is a good defender, better than Kidd when it comes to one on one perimeter defense. However, Harris is smaller and he can be somewhat limited on the type of players he can guard. He also shows "rookie mistakes" on D quite often.

...as far as Kidd, he isnt as quick as Harris but he has more size and strength and matches up well with those types of guards. Kidd is also more crafty in forcing turnovers. Kidd is a veteran and knows how to adjust on the fly to the defensive situation. He will be fine on defense, but that is not why they are bringing him in. The player in this deal that will be used more for perimeter defense is Antoine Wright

But Dallas isn't looking for a scoring Beast. He'll replace Harris' points and he will distribute the ball, thus improving the flow of the offense. I'm sure that's what they want. I'm pretty sure they're content with their nucleus to score. The problem is Harris plays similar to Terry in that he's usually looking to score. Kidd doesn't do that.

He's also averaging his second career best in assists this year, BTW.

I just don't see the benefit, oh well. I always believed their most glaring weakness was interior scoring, yet they go out and get a perimeter player. I just don't get how now this is the missing piece of the puzzle, when they could've just kept Nash and gone after an interior scorer instead of signing Dampier.

Cuban better win it all this season or next, unless he wants to go down as looking like a two-time idiot. Well, he already is one..........

Also his second highest RPG total in his career. His steals are 1.5 thats not adnomarmally bad for him he's done that in his career, his TO's are at normal levels for him 3.6. Honestly I don't see how based off stat's how bad he is, yah his ppg are down by a small margin but Kidd is still Jason Kidd 11.3 ppg 8 reb and 10.4, He definetly earns the name Mr. Tripple Double how many guys have gotten atleast 12 points, 8 rebs, 8 assist over much of there career like kidd. It will be a short list btw, i'll name one off for you OSCAR ROBERTSON. The point i'm trying to make is he has had troubles shooting (36% fg) but come on all you guys care about is shooting and fail to realise his reb's, assist are better then usual, and because of the 36% he's garbage huh?
