Make shooting foul calls less often. It seems like all the guy has to do is get touched by the defender.

Have you ever played any pick up game or organized ball where you've seen somebody go down like that because of a small elbow? I know that I haven't.

So yes, he may have made contact with Raja's face. But, he still FLOPPED. I don't see how you could deny that.
You've never been elbowed in the face before, have you?

Re: If you could change ONE RULE in the NBA what would it be?

I wouldn't really change any rules, but I wish they would go back and call the rules as they are stated. I am so sick of offensive players being able to lower their shoulders into the defender and get a foul called on the defender. The flagrant foul rule has made this game to where if you foul a player so hard that he can't get a shot up then they are getting at least a flagrant and maybe a flagrant 2. Also the hand check rule is a bit ridiculous. The other rule that really sticks out to me that has been forgotten about is the defenders position. Defenders are allowed to have their space on the floor and the space above them. To often I see offensive players jump into the defender and get two shots. I've even seen defenders jump backwards, put a hand up and still get a foul.

The NBA needs to go back and review how the games were officiated in the mid 80's to mid 90's a take a step back into time.

So everyone in the past couldn't play defense?

            Well, there you have it.

If you're gonna rid of the hand-check, at least bring back the old zone rules. Maybe we can get the big man back in the game.

And you must be soft as hell to let an elbow like that flatten you the way it flattened Raja.

I've had teeth knocked loose from elbows and my nose bloodied and I never hit the floor like that.

Raja flopped trying to get the refs attention and have the foul called on Kobe. Period.

              Let's be real.

The Hop-Step rule allowance, if you dribble and your feet touch the ground more than two times period, it's a travel, the hop step is designed for players that have to travel to get a bucket.

Of course Bell did some acting, but what difference does it make if the elbow was hard or not? Basketball is a ball game, not wrestling.

So are you saying that Kobe made a point to elbow Raja in the face?

Now, IMO, Kobe merely put an arm out to shield the ball after he felt Raja behind him going for the steal. All ball players do this posting up. Raja leaned forward while attempting the steal and got caught with an elbow.

The Ref was standing right in front of the play with a good view, and did not give the call to Bell.

...And I was just merely using the video to illustrate flopping, which you admit, is what Raja did.

The ref respects Kobe that's why he didn't give the call to Bell. If it was Bell who elbowed Bryant u can be sure that there was a call.

So, again I ask you...Do you think Kobe thought to himself, "Raja is going for the steal. I think I should go ahead and elbow him directly in the face, right in front of the referee."?

I would also like to ask you...How many times have you seen Kobe flop like that?

And...Is Raja Bell not known for flopping?

Stay on task fellaz. This is not a thread that needs to be hi-jacked with Kobe talk.

My rule change would be to revert back to the 90s when your weak links on defense would have to play defense or be the cause of your team's loss. Players who are getting praised now only play one side of the ball and not the other. The zone is nice but definitely needs to be taken away cause that's lazy defense. I want to see the skill of real basketball where it's truly 5 on 5 the whole game with flaws and mismatches being used more in gameplans. Maybe that's just me.......

Less off days between playoff games. Have back-to-backs and only have 1 off day for travel between cities.

                                Take your pick:

                                The hand-check rule

Goal-tending while the ball is on the sphere (I'm sorry, but if the ball has hit the backboard or the rim and it has not gone in, it is fair play)

Flopping (it is turning the sport into soccer, and no one wants to be compared to soccer)

First round of the playoffs need to be 5-games again
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!
