Re: Name 10 Players Better Than Jordan...Go

Uhh. He almost seems like the only guy on the team that has a clear goal, and direction, and is doing everything he can to obtain that goal. Do you see the urgency anywhere else? NO? Do you see him speaking out about it? Yes? Do you see him lead by example? Yes. Do you see him practice what he's saying to them? Yes? Do you see him trying to show these guys how to play, and understand what it takes to win? Yes?, If you do, then you see good qualities of a leader. Whether or not they listen, or do the necessary things,it's not his fault. Some people grow at diffrent rates than others, and some never get it.

You can guide a person, tell them how to play the game, but if they don't do it for themselves, that's because they don't try, or don't want to. You can't make grown people do anything they don't want.

Jordan again shows his leadership by speaking out publicly about his team. Challenging them, and they respond with a win over the Magic to keep them well and truly in the hunt.

MJ is the greatest leader of all time? Anyone who questions his leadership just doesnt know basketball.

Big up's to the Spurs. They gave me a fright there for a minute but all is well!

Everyone who doesn't worship Jordan isn't a *****. There is a rational middle ground that many objective parties have reached.

the1theonly's point is a valid one. A man isn't a great leader just because he tries to be, just because he wants to be, just because he's willing to criticize. He is only a great leader if he persuades those around him to follow his example and leads them to something meaningful. Everyone who wins isn't automatically a great leader.

Why can there be no logical middle ground here? Jordan is still a very good player, and his fans should appreciate having him around while they still can. I'm somewhere in the middle, neither in Ahmad Rashad or ***** territory, and I still appreciate being able to watch him play, so long as people aren't trying to convince me he's something he's not.

IMO Jordan himself would tell you that he's not one of the top 20 players in the game anymore. He certainly isn't shy about admitting that he can't keep up with the game's best anymore.

The bashing of all the other Wizards to serve Jordan's continued greatness isn't necessary. If Jordan were to glance back at his own career, he'd find that many in the know questioned his own "urgency" during his first several years in the league. He slowly grew into a player more concerned with championships than scoring titles, stats, and highlight reels, and it paid off. Give these guys some time.

All of this does nothing to prove he isn't a leader. He is a leader, and it has nothing do with his early years in Chicago. He is a 40 year old doing things his teammates seem scared to try, and pushes himself, and plays to win by example, not personal status, and if you can't see that you are blind. To say a player like MJ is not a leader is like saying Magic was a garbage ball player.

Who ever said that Jordan wasn't a leader? I certainly never did.

I guess that answers my question about a middle ground. Either you think Jordan is the second coming, and shouldn't be open to criticism from all of the mere mortals, or you're blind. Thanks for the clarification.

Seriously, let's lighten up here. Isn't there room for smart people to disagree?

You say he's got a good team that he's not making better?

One high school kid in his second year, one starting center in his second year, 2 rookies of which one is out for the season... that makes up a good part of the good team you're talking about. On the other side you have Laettner, Oakley and Russell all role players past their time even as role players, and Lue who shouldn't be a starter in the nba.

What's left is Jordan, Stackhouse (inconsistent) and Hughes (inconsistent). Take Jordan off this team and you have the Cavs, the Clippers, the Nuggets. It's the will to win that's missing. The desire, and most importantly the defense. I can't imagine any facts, statistically or otherwise to support yoru thoughts.
