CP was able to show he was a pure point at WF. Rose is in a system that doesn't allow him to show off his full potential as a point guard. But Roses' quickness and speed are pretty crazy.

Re: How Good Can Derrick Rose Be?
That's understandable, but I think only injury or a poor work ethic will derail him. He just has too many plus skills not to be great. Rare quickness and explosiveness, great finisher with either hand, size, speed, ball handling, and strength. Today I saw that his court vision and bball I.Q. were top shelf as well.

How many friggin' point guards do you need!?!?!?
Yup. And Andre Miller.
Wow. I'd rather have the killer big man, but that's just me.Comment

Re: How Good Can Derrick Rose Be?
Derrick Rose could be the 5th best PG in the league next year.
That's right, I said it! 5th best NEXT YEAR!
Obviously, he'd have to take a back seat to the 4 horseman of PG in the league this year:
- Chris Paul
- Deron Williams
- Steve Nash
- Jason Kidd
No disrespect to Baron Davis or Chauncey Billups. Davis doesn't play defense like Rose. As for Billups, maybe 4 years ago he would have took a backseat to him but Billups is obviously on the downside of his career.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: How Good Can Derrick Rose Be?
Paul will IMO, be the consensus number one point guard in the league with in 2 years, and will probably stay in the top 3 for the next decade. I think Rose can do some things physically that Paul can't do, so I think he has a chance to surpass him.
It may(probably will) take longer than the time frame that I initially gave, and it may always be debatable who is the best, but I think Rose can be the top dog.
Of course the whole discussion could be rendered moot by some kid who hasn't appeared on the radar yet.Jordan Mychal Lemos

To answer the question, he could be great. The thing I like about him is that he can make things happen even when he's not scoring himself.Comment

Re: How Good Can Derrick Rose Be?
Chauncey Billups is on the downside of his career, but Jason Kidd and Steve Nash aren't? Last I checked, Billups is a few years younger than those guys. And while Billups has certainly plateued, he's not winding down by any means. His scoring and assist numbers are consistent all across the board. However, his shooting percentage this year is as high as it's ever been in his career. He's become a better decision-maker on the floor than even a couple years ago.
As for Derrick Rose, I'd say he definitely has the physical gifts and skills to be a fantastic combo guard NBA. Of course he can improve his jumper, but that's said for just about any prospect who comes into the league. My only concern with Rose is how well he adapts to running any offense against better-prepared NBA teams where all players across the league are scouted in greater detail and many more subtle defensive adjustments are made. In Memphis they pretty much run a simplistic drive-and-kick offense that opposing defenses didn't have the resources (i.e. athletic talent) to answer. While I think he is capable of running any offense asked of him, it's going to be a whole different scenario for Rose in the NBA in the case that his athleticism don't stand out as much as it does in college, and he'll have to rely more on his IQ and outthinking defenders to be successful getting to the basket and making plays for himself and teammates.

LOL, I didn't want to say anything, it seemed like a strange comment to me too.Comment
